At first, I nearly gagged on the cost of real estate agent commissions, but at the end Janice turned out to be worth every penny. After at least 50 years as a rental, the property was in rough shape and needed a lot of work to get into an attractive enough condition to sell. On top of that, the former tenants left behind a lot of stuff that needed disposal. Janice pretty much took care of everything, from cleanup to repairs to needed renovations. She not only located and hired the contractors but even picked out the colors for painting (both interior and exterior) and flooring. It was like she had a sixth sense for what buyers wanted. The only work that was done, and it was a lot, was whatever would pay off when the property sold. The work took over a month, but it was all needed, and I really didn't have to lift a finger. When the property was finally ready to price and sell, Janice took careful note of both the surrounding market conditions and her perception of buyer sentiment at the time.
