Being out of town, I went to another dentist to ask about the troublesome teeth but ultimately there isn't anyone that I trust more than Dr. Chu. Regarding the parking situation, there is a big lot that should have spots available. There's a security guard that is very diligent about watching the cars because Scarborough General is literally a block away and people try to park in this lot for free. The signs in the lot say that there is a 1 hour limit for parking. Inside the office, you'll see that there is a sign that says there is a minimum of 2 hours for parking. The receptionist will provide you with a little slip that you can put on your dashboard indicating that you are authorized to park there. The office is located in the plaza with the Shoppers which is convenient because you will likely get prescribed something for pain/antibiotics if you're getting your wisdom teeth out like me. Look for a hanging blue sign and an entrance that will take you up a set of stairs. The receptionist desk is right there and they can check you in. Both receptionists are really friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous about my appointment and one of them talked with me a bit assuring me that everything would be fine and that little kids and adults alike handle their surgeries well. I actually fall into the category of big baby so this was good information. There are two areas in the waiting room. One of them had a TV playing CBC News. There were many magazines to peruse through as well. After a bit of wait, I was shown back to a room. A nurse took down some additional info before Dr. Chu came in. Dr. Chu is very calm and professional. He explained my case to me and let me know that it was completely my choice whether or not to go ahead with the procedure. This was very important to me. I'd rather be given the option (if there's no foreseeable consequence to not doing it) than pushed into surgery that wasn't entirely necessary. I was told the extraction took about 15 minutes (I was completely out). After my extraction I was shown to a recovery room and a nurse sat with me for a bit and explained my after care instructions and answered my questions. She wasn't pushy about getting me out at all. She gave me the option to stick around some more to let me get my bearings but I had my parents with me and was okay to be on my way. I'm happy to report I didn't end up looking like a chipmunk and I was able to just take Advil to deal with the pain during the healing process even though I had the option of getting stronger painkillers. A few of my family members have also had their wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Chu and the consensus was that he's very good at what he does. A big thank you to Dr. Chu and the team!

However, they have just switched owners / changed dentists and DIDN'T TELL ME prior to my appointment. So after my appointment I was hit with a massive bill, no where near what I normally used to pay. I was in complete shock! It is due to two reasons 1) they have increased their prices significantly and 2) they no longer give small discounts for people without dental insurance. I have called over 5 dentists in the area and all of them give discounts to people without insurance. In fact, I was told it is common practice to do that in Toronto! The new owners have just obtained a great customer base from the previous dentists and this is how they treat us? Welcome to your new dentist, now I'm going to screw you, open wide! The services I received were exactly the same as I had received preivously in the past, just at a much higher price tag. I won't go again and will be contacting all of my family, friends and neighbours I recommended them to so they know what has happened. Will also force you to swallow your bloody spit because they are lazy to clean the sink near the chair in the operating room. Will also send another patient's xrays and say it's yours to your new dentist despite it is clearly not yours when the dentist opens it and will argue that its yours, despite it is clearly not a match. They will also refuse to give you copies of your invoices citing that they do not keep it long, even only after one week. This is despite the law says that they have to keep it for a minimum of ten years at least, keeping in mind they still has from thirteen years ago for a cleaning, and since these new charges are fraudulent, they suddenly cannot find or don't have them, forgetting that you can get them from the insurance company directly and can find it online on the insurance website too, lousy people, take out he wrong teeth, fill the wrong tooth and double charge for xrays.
