We made a reservation through Yelp and although we were on the top of the list for a while, it took an additional 40 minutes to the posted wait time. With the all-you-can-eat option, we decided to try all the meat options before ordering more of our preferred ones. I was sad to see Shabu House close, but was very happy to see that Shabu Club quickly opened a second location in it's place! I was always a fan of the original Shabu Club on Clement St in SF, but it was always such a trek from where I lived. We usually make a reservation but they also take walk ins. if you're walking in I recommend coming at an off time or weekday to avoid long waits during prime time and weekends. They have a small happy hour menu that runs from 5-6:30pm every day! From their HH menu we like to get the House Sake ($3), Gyoza ($4), and Kamikaze Wings ($6). You can go with AYCE ($44), AYCE + Beer/Sake ($56) or a Shabu Set ($ depends on meat choice/size). We typically do a Shabu Set - my go to is the Miso Broth, Large Beef, with Rice and Udon. Every order comes with a bowl of veggies (typically napa cabbage, spinach, enoki mushroom, carrots) and ice cream at the end! This location is nice and big, they have smaller tables and bar towards the front and larger tables towards the back. They even have a private room if you wanted to book it for a larger group party. Service is always great, the meat quality is the best, and for those cilantro lovers out there, you're going to love their house green sauce. read more

We got the all you can eat with alcohol option and the drinks were a little watered down but the meat was really good especially the wagyu and the green sauce was the highlight! I was heartbroken when Shabu House closed, but I am very happy Shabu Club has replaced it. This location is easy to get to and parking is not too bad compared to the SF location. Pro tip: if you don't have reservations, get there when they open at 5. I especially love coming here when it's cold. They offer AYCE + drink here but a large plate of beef is enough food for me. Food is delicious and make sure to use their sauce. Not too much has changed since the transition. Still clean and you can see the steam rising from the soup pots lol. Service is OK and food comes out pretty fast. Once we get all the items we're pretty much left to it and usually talking through our meal anyway. This will probably be my go-to for shabu. read more

Shabu Club has been one of my favorite recent Burlingame discoveries! If you're in the mood for generous portions of tasty hot pot, I would absolutely recommend it! For starters, I would definitely suggest making a reservation for this place, especially if you're going with a group, as it gets pretty packed. The past couple times, I've gotten the 3 meat combo (pork, lamb, and wagyu beef) with udon and tonkotsu broth, and it's been fantastic. The meat is fresh and the broth is very flavorful. They also offer a side of garlic ponzu sauce that is to die for! We also usually order the kamikaze wings and kobe beef fries, and I'd highly recommend both (especially the fries)! And be sure to take advantage of the happy hour, which runs daily from 5-6:30, as it's a great way to save on those apps and the delicious variety of soju they offer! Service has always been very fast and friendly for us. Decided to try Shabu Club on a Friday night with the hubby for date night. Was surprised they opened one in Burlingame and it looks like it still in the soft opening stage. Anyway, I didn't know that we had to make reservations but they did have a waitlist. Waited probably around 30 mins. Also, parking is very hard. Hubby had to go around a few times and it was just very difficult. As we were seated we were immediately warned that they're enforcing the 90 minute limit. Assuming we got the AYCE option maybe? There is an AYCE option and a set option. We opted for the set. Both of us got large Wagyu. I got the spicy tonkatsu broth and hubby got spicy miso. Lots of veggies and also the meat was plenty. The cilantro dipping sauce was good but if you don't like cilantro, they'll give you ponzu. We asked a few times if we can have the sauce without cilantro but I guess there's no way they can give it to us without it. It's straight ponzu. -1 star for this. After dinner we had ice cream which was part of the set. Hubby asked for mango, but server gave him black sesame since the table next to us also had black sesame so she might've forgotten. Anyway, after ice cream, our server was near us, saw us leave and didn't even acknowledge us. She looked at us, and didn't even say "thanks have a good night" uhh okay? I guess. So that's another -1 star. It was off putting. We understood it's busy but please next time be more patient and also make sure to greet your customers. Maybe this location is still new, but it needs improvement in several aspects. I came with a group of 6 and we shared two SMALL pots of broth, it was barely enough space to cook the veggies and meat at the same time. Definitely used to the individual pots offered at their SF location. If the option is not available due to the build of the table, then have larger pots? This should be taken consideration since there were only two heat tops at the larger table. Call ahead and make a reservation if possible, because even with reservations, it was still a 35minute wait. Waitresses were lacking on a Saturday evening. The service was slow, inefficient and unattentive. It took awhile to put an order in and to get the bill and this is with us actively flagging them down. Most of the waitresses were just mingling behind the bar. I suppose this was a common issue at the other location as well. During the second round, instead of providing the type of meat, I asked for a specific number of trays to speed up the process. The meat quality is decent and the highlight of why I love Shabu Club so much is because of their cilantro and sesame sauce. One of our friend isn't good with chopsticks so we requested a fork. He was given a plastic mini fork and when we asked if they had a larger one, they said no. Plastic and hot broth doesn't really mix, especially with a grown adult eating with a mini fork.. When I saw forks at another table mid-dinner, I requested it again specifying that I wanted a metal adult sized fork and we got it with another waiter. Our friends were from out of town so we wanted to bring them to a good restaurant and they had quite the experience. We did the opposite and risked it, only to be told that we can get a table if a reservation is a no show. But we were offered counter seating immediately, so it worked out for our party of 4. I had never been before and was told that the large order should be more than enough food. I ended up ordering the pick 2 meats (wagyu and lamb), miso broth, and udon noodles. The order also came with a bowl of rice and some veggies and tofu for the broth. We also all shared a plate of the fries. Overall: meat quality was excellent. Very tender and fresh, melts in your mouth, and tastes high quality. Pairs well with the garlic onion sauce and rice. I didn't love their veggie plate and only ate the cabbage and tofu. I think they could give more variety and higher quality of veggies than what was provided. You also get ice cream for dessert! Portion size was definitely enough and service was nice and attentive. SO glad the OG owners of the SF location decided to take over the old shabu house to open one in Burlingame. It's gonna take a lot of self control to not come here every week! you have the option to do either ayce or their sets. And because it's a new year and trying to be a new me, I opted for their sets (though I most def could've done ayce!) it comes with a plate of meat, rice, and a bowl of noodles and veggies. please see pic below for how marbled the beef looks. So fresh and so marbled that they just melt in your mouth. The Kobe beef fries are really good too. As appetizer. But the main star. Is the green sauce. It is to die for. It ties in all the flavor. And complements EVERYTHING. I could drink that shit all the time. One thing I appreciate about this location is that the tables have built in stove so there's no need for a portable stove. That definitely saves room on the table. And makes the dining experience a lot smoother! And also they have more ice cream flavors. Woo-hoo! We got a large, two meat set which the server said was 8 oz of meats in total. The cilantro dip was decent and the ponzu sauce was very basic. It would be nice to have more variety of sauces. The assorted veggies consisted of a handful of white mushrooms, two baby carrots, a handful of spinach and Napa cabbage, and one serving of udon noodles. The broths were pretty basic and lacked depth of flavor. The set also came with one bowl of rice and one serving of ice cream and cone which was very basic. The design is similar to sf, but there's definitely more space. We also liked how we could see the chef's cutting the meat in their little station. We did a reservation through yelp on a Wednesday night at 6, and was happy we did since it was surprisingly busy when we were there. We love getting their fries during happy hour. We love the quality of soup and meat whenever we go to the SF location and this location didn't miss. We were so happy by our meal and to end it off with ice cream was the best treat. Shabu Club just opened here in Burlingame and according to previous reviews, I was unaware that they moved from their original location. I'm glad they are here in Burlingame and closer to me now, because I actually enjoyed my meal here! First off, this location is still in their soft opening phase and probably figuring out logistics and service. Please give them some slack...everyone starts somewhere especially if it's a brand-new team, in a new location, with new coworkers...etc. I give them the kudos for doing their best that night as I can tell how flustered they were as hordes of people kept flowing in. Anyways... If I could, I would say 4.5 stars. I chose all you can eat with my partner, which equates to $45 for AYCE on a Saturday night. We didn't have a reservation, which I would recommend, but since it was just two of us, we were able to get a seat within 30 minutes. There's plenty to explore on Broadway so it doesn't hurt to just walk around and then circle back when they give you a call/text. We ended up sitting at the bar counter, which is totally fine. This place is actually quite spacious and can seat a lot of people! We ate 17 plates of meat from AYCE, 2 bowls of udon, 2 bowls of veggies, and 4 ice cream cones. For 4 types of broth and all the above at ~$45 a person, I'd say that's worth it. The beef was the best imo, literally melting in the mouth and sliced quite thinly. The broth was also yummy. But the special thing was the cilantro ponzu sauce...SO GOOD. It definitely made the meat taste better. I wasn't too much of a fan of the kurobuta pork, so I opted for more wagyu beef and premium lamb. Now the SERVICE. Again, they are still in soft opening, and I can tell they are trying. I could tell the woman that served us was covering a LOT more tables in different ends of the restaurant, unsure if this was on purpose but I feel that might be slowing down service and causing more variables in foot traffic? I don't know, don't take my word for it. But she would always run by and make sure we were doing okay with a quick "how's everything". I've been to the clement location in SF multiple times, however this was my first time at this new shabu club location in Burlingame. The atmosphere was nice. Workers were all quite friendly. I came for a special occasion with 5 other friends. We opted to do the AYCE option which I highly recommend. We chose spicy miso and spicy tonkotsu as our broths. The quality of meat here is on par with the sf location with great marbling. The slices are cut to the perfect size. Not too thin or thick. The beef is extremely tender. The cilantro sauce is absolutely amazing, compliments the meat so well. This location has more flavor of ice cream compared to the SF location. They had sesame, mango, lychee, matcha, and red bean. We also tried their in house yogurt soju and house sake. Both were quite affordable and quite smooth. Good bang for your buck. Overall would recommend both the set menu and ayce options. read more

The miso lacked that deep, savory miso flavor, and the tonkotsu tasted pretty generic. Nothing memorable. I ordered the spicy miso and tonkatsu broth, along with the 2-meat combo plate featuring lamb and American wagyu beef. The wagyu was the clear winner for me, which so tender and flavorful! The set also came with a veggie bowl, your choice of noodle (udon or ramen), AND rice. While I wasn't planning on getting rice, it ended up being an amazing complement to the rich broths and perfectly cooked meats. Service was decent overall, but they did forget my rice a couple of times, even after I reminded the servers. Understandable since they're still new, and I'm hoping it'll improve over time.
