Shadyside is a must go in Tahoe City. There is a reason why it's always packed! The food...delicious. The drinks... amazing. The vibes... off the hook. Moral of the story!! Go to Shadyside. I have such great memories with my boyfriend at this place. The staff is friendly and provides fast service no matter how packed. I loved having a quick bite to eat, drinks, or dinner here. 10/10

I had heard good things about this Mexican restaurant and bar, and since my old favorite Mexican restaurant in tahoe city closed a few years back, I was eager to try it. The spot is near sunnyside and west shore market. We went on a Thursday night and were surprised how busy it was! It's off season (October) and not the weekend so didnt expect it to be busy. But even so we were seated almost immediately. The decor inside is very cool! Hip and vibey with good lighting. Our server was exceptionally nice. We ordered the chicken burrito and the chicken tacos. The chicken tinga is so flavorful! The avocado crema and the fresh pickled vegetables made for an amazing combo. The flour tortillas are hand made and you can tell! I ate these so fast because they were so good. My husband got the cocktail called 'Naked and Famous' and said it was very tasty. We will definitely be back!

Just love this establishment. Warm styled atmosphere filled with liveliness. Great speciality drinks, bar seating...inside and outside. Great menu for bites and Mexican forward plates. Always greeted with a smile...attentive service whether you are here for dinner or just a cocktail. An added bonus to the Tahoe Community!

This spot is a nice addition to West Shore. The Ambiance is Cabin chic. It's brand new inside but carefully curated for a retro 60s vibe. The Drinks are on par for quality and price with those in a hip bar in SF Mexican food was a B. Service was on par with places around here. Laid back for better.

Great food, great vibe, and great bartenders! The nachos are a must try and definitely large enough they need to be shared. The burrito is delicious too. They've got some pretty delicious cocktails worth trying as well. If Kristi's working the bar, she'll take great care of you!

We stay at William Kent Campground every year and at least since Shadyside Lounge has been open, we've been missing out. In the inside, it has that old time lounge look, but the patio actually feels like somebody's more modern day backyard. So darn cute!! I also love that the bar has indoor as well as outdoor seats. The day was beautiful, so we sat outside and it was perfect. We had the Nachos with Chicken Tinga. OMG, so good!!! The Nachos are loaded with house-made Tortilla Chips, Black Beans, Chili Con Queso, Pickled Jalapeños, Avocado Crema, Spicy Pickled Red Onion and choice of Protein. We chose the Chicken Tinga, which was so savory. The employees at the bar were friendly and service wad great. I highly recommend it!! What a great find for when we visit the West Shore.

The nachos (ordered without the pickled jalapeños due to kids). Huge plate, fed one adult and a tween.

First visit here and we loved everything about it. Super cool vibe inside and loved the outdoor space. We sat outside and were greeted immediately. Service was quick, friendly and patient when we had questions and trouble deciding. I got the hazy on tap and loved it, while others in our party got cocktails and all said they were delicious and pretty generous pours. Food was the best we've had in Tahoe. The kids even commented on the nachos being the best they've ever had. I had the taco plate. Food was fresh, filling and really good flavors. I honestly can't wait to go back. We did arrive just around 5pm and glad we did because shortly after there was a line out the door!

    Chicken tinga nachos and encharito

We visited Shadyside Lounge last month. We ordered the spicy chicken tinga nachos with added guacamole for an extra charge and the encharito. The nachos were great, and a very generous portion. They loaded them up with toppings, no bite was dry. I ordered it as my main course, but would be great to split as an appetizer. The encharito was good, but extremely garlicky-- if that's your thing, then get this! The house margarita was strong and tasty, I recommend! Overall, good experience. Waitstaff were nice, and they had great indoor seating with an amazing vibe. We chose to sit outdoors, which was nice too! This isn't your super authentic Mexican cuisine we're used to in the Bay Area, but was delicious nonetheless.

Great for dinner! We visited Shadyside Lounge on a Friday evening, and waited about 15 minutes to get seated as a party of 5. The space wasn't the largest and they were very busy! The vibe was surprisingly trendy for Tahoe, especially the beautiful bar, and we were seated in a comfortable booth. For drinks, I got the Non-alc Paloma, which was tasty. However, my friend's Agua Fresca was even better - would totally get that next time! We also started with Guacamole, Chips, and Salsa for the table. The Guacamole was super fresh and delicious, and was good portion size for sharing. For my entree, I chose the Burrito Bowl with Beef Birria and Guacamole. I really liked this dish! The Beef Birria itself wasn't the best one of my life, but all the ingredients went together so well. It was also filling in a healthy(ish), satisfying way. My friends enjoyed their food as well, including the Encharito and Plato de Tacos. Service was quick and efficient - would return!

We started with chips and salsa, which sounds like table stakes but is actually the opening argument a Mexican restaurant makes about itself. La Mexicana's argument was convincing. Fresh chips, salsa with actual flavor and intention behind it, the kind of start that makes you optimistic about everything that follows. The Tamarind Agua Fresca was the right call for the setting, slightly sweet, slightly tart, and exactly what you want when you're sitting outside in mountain air trying to pretend real life isn't happening somewhere else. Then the Machaca wet burrito arrived and my partner and I both understood immediately that we had made the correct decision to share. Shredded beef, properly seasoned, wrapped in a burrito then smothered in sauce the way it was always meant to be served. Not dainty. Not Instagram-portioned. This thing could have fed a Wookiee and still sent him home with leftovers. We split it down the middle and still left satisfied in the way that requires a moment of quiet appreciation before you can form sentences again. The outdoor seating area is large, relaxed, and scenic in the way that only Lake Tahoe can pull off without even trying. You're not just eating a meal, you're eating a meal in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, which makes everything taste slightly better on principle. Five stars, no hesitation. They were excellent. Like, the kind where you pause mid-bite and nod. The enchiladas were exactly what you want after a long Tahoe day: cheesy, saucy, and piping hot in the best kind of way. Comfort food perfection. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. A couple quirks to know going in: * Beware the green salsa. It is SPICY. Do not mistake it for guacasalsa. It's actually spicier than the red salsa and has some serious kick. * Chips aren't free and only come in one large size, so plan accordingly if you're just looking for a small side. Overall, fantastic food, generous portions, and totally worth the stop. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

The day we came, they were painting so the doors were closed and the place was hot and had no air flowing. The person at the counter was on the phone but finally got around to taking our order. About 10 minutes later, he came out to tell me they had no Tater Tots -they were not in the delivery today. He refunded my $9 but did not take the unavailable special off the sign. The wife ordered a burrito bowl and I ordered Quesobirra Tacos. The portions were small. Chips and Salsa are an al la carte side. The dipping sauce was mostly vinaigrette and cilantro. The tacos glistened in grease. Not impressed. The burrito bowl was nothing special. No exceptional flavors. It just kind of laid there. Tahoe City prices. $25 for the two of us for a $13 meal. Not coming back any time soon. As I finished writing the review, the special is still on the board. Come on people.
