    Bacon cheese burger and fry

It is July and we got to sit inside at the air conditioned bar. Outside is covered and doable. I got a double cheeseburger. Do big. I should have got a single. Good juicy burger with everything. Crispy fries. My pineapple milkshake was delicious. Needed a spoon. Service is always friendly.

The Shake Pit is located directly on the south side of Cortez Road. There are plenty of seats. Burgers are plump juicy and well seasoned. The shakes have authentic flavor and perfect thickness. I've been eating here during trips to the beach for decades and it's never disappointed.

This is a cash-only establishment, but don't worry they have an ATM on-site if you need it. There are plenty of picnic tables outside, which makes it a nice spot to hang out, especially in good weather. They do offer some food options like cheeseburgers, hotdogs, corn dogs, and chicken sandwiches, but we came specifically for the ice cream and we were not disappointed. They have both soft serve and regular ice cream, including some specialty flavors. We ordered a banana split with rocky road, triple peanut butter, and siesta sea turtle (all specialty flavors). It ended up costing $17, which felt a bit steep--but honestly, it was huge. Two of us shared it and still couldn't finish. Easily enough for 4 people. The place was packed on a Sunday night around 8:45 PM, just before closing time, so it's clearly a popular spot. If you're craving ice cream and don't mind paying a little extra for a giant treat, it's worth a visit!

a cup of ice cream with a spoon sticking out of it

We have driven by here too many times to count and finally stopped. The menu board is a bit funky and not at all easy to read, but I knew I wanted ice cream with candy, whatever they called it. I think it was called a Spooner. I got a Butterfinger one and they even put a little extra Butterfinger on top. Their ice cream is very good so I think that means the fat content is high. The only thing I didn't like was the styrofoam cup. For me it's a sensory thing and I can't stand the scraping on styrofoam. There are numerous benches where you can sit, and the staff was friendly and efficient.

All I ever wanted was some Shake Pit on the way home from the beach. Pulled up ... Closed. It's like Chick Fila on a Sunday

Delicious milk shakes (try the peanut butter!) and the fries are SO good. Cash only, but there's an ATM in the CVS next door.

As I sit in this establishment, I often ponder to myself "wow, aren't I lucky to have a place like…read moresweetberries in my life". Sweetberries itself is built around the aspect of a good southern family, giving their cream to others in the spirit of good heart, and boy do I love their cream! I do have to touch on one aspect of family, sometimes families split apart. Being from Sarasota, we had a sweetberries location five minutes from my house. Unfortunately that location closed and It felt like a bad divorce, going to the other parents house to spend some time with them. As I sat down today, I ordered the vegetable and beef soup and boy was it good. It was hotter than black asphalt on a hot Florida summer day. The flavor was immaculate and was made with fresh vegetables and beef that tasted like it was butchered the previous morning. Then, I was delighted to receive my vanilla concrete with raspberries and chocolate chips... my go to. I'm not sure if it's the ambiance, quality ingredients, or smiling faces but man is it good. If you are ever in the bradenton/sarasota area please make time to stop by. #sweetberriesforlife

Sweetberries Eatery & Frozen Custard - I ordered the SweetBerries Sunset: vanilla custard, (ran out of) peaches, raspberries & blackberries. A small for $6.39 was plenty.

Its location is in a small plaza, but at night it's pretty dark with minimal lights outside in the parking lot. This location is long and narrow and there's about 6 tables. When we came it definitely got crowded, but we snagged a table. They don't appear to give samples. I didn't see anyone getting any nor did I see any sample spoons. Most of the ice cream looked soft and I don't like that. Only really one or two flavors caught my attention also. I did choose a one scoop sundae with rum raisin and I had pineapple as the topping and it comes with whip cream, nuts, & cherry. I shared this and I'm glad I did bc the scoops appeared to actually be the size of two regular scoops. It was ok and again bc of it being softer than I like. Is that perhaps because they say it is homemade? I have no idea. The service was nice and there were about two or three of them when it got busier in the night. But I most likely won't be back. There's always ice cream around the area with it being close to the beach.
