Cool place. Had hard ice cream and a Hot Fudge Cake. Both were great and we'll be back!

I am in love with these Hot Dogs! Whenever I am in the area I have to have one!! I usually get one with chili, slaw & onion with very light on mustard. They steam the buns. The slaw is sweet and the chili delicious. My hubby, Tony enjoys the Pork Lion sandwich minus pickle. The fries are always crispy and thick!!! So far, fingers crossed no complaints!! read more

The Shake Shoppe is a throwback to an earlier time. Which is not a bad thing. We stopped there recently on a trip to Gallipolis. My 13-year old daughter loved the Shake Shoppe. She said her chicken tenders and fries were quite tasty. My hot dogs were very good with a nice tangy sauce. We did not have time for ice cream - perhaps on our next trip. read more

We ordered take out from this Shake Shop on Second Av in Gallipolis, OH The FOOD was horrible! One star rating is way to generous but this site insists on it. We couldn't taste any of the food via what I estimate a pound of salt was used. Our food was thrown in the trashcan. The fur baby even refused it. I did bring it to the attention to the staff and I was told that the guy in charge said that if you are older than your twenties your taste buds don't work. How odd I can taste salt, especially mega doses of salt. My taste buds work very well ever where else on the planet. Don't walk away from this place, run away. read more

I grew up with the original Shake Shoppe in Logan, Ohio. While this one is built in the original's image (before the original burned down), it is not quite the same. The shakes and malts are amazing--5 stars The burgers are ok, but small. The fries are phenomenal; however, I ordered a medium and only had 5 waffle fries. My entire order consisted of a cheeseburger, medium fry, and small chocolate malt, with my husband ordering the same. After eating our meals we ordered another fry--large this time--and split it. I left still hungry. Now, I'm not a voracious eater; my husband constantly Kids me about taking a few bites and being full. So, when I say I left still hungry this is a BIG deal. Add to that the $18 price tag and this is not a good value. Bottom Line: I will definitely eat at the Shake Shoppe again, however, I won't come hungry. It's a good place for a snack, and the ice cream is worth it. read more

Great food and great atmosphere. The music was on point and we were able to put ourselves in the mindset of small town diner that in days pst would have been the highlight of the said small town. Only draw back was a cold reception from staff. Granted they were rather young but no eye contact or general interest in us being there. We love the food at Shake Shoppe. They always have long lines. But I have to report our experience today. It was horrible. We waited in long line once for our food. Food was great. Then we waited in line second time for ice cream and a to go order. They put nuts on the ice cream, even charged for them. I'm allergic. We had to send it back. Then, when they gave our order, it didn't have our sandwich. The man told us, "They didn't charge you for it, so if you want to stand in line again and pay for it, go ahead." So, trip number three through the line, the lady who took our order knew that we had definitely ordered the sandwich. She apologized, which was nice. But, is that how you treat people who frequent your business when You make a mistake? We were happy to pay for it, but standing in line for 15 more minutes because you made a mistake?! read more

Just not a good place for food; only ice cream. I got a take home order today (due to COVID 19 restaurant restrictions). I've never liked this place because it is basically glorified fair food, and their hotdog sauce has as much beans as meat in it. So, 10 miles later I get home only to find that the one thing that I ordered for myself (triple cheeseburger) was not in the bag. Then I made multiple calls to the 2nd Avenue Shake Shoppe, and every time no one would answer the phone. I will never EVER eat there again. I do not recommend this "restaurant" to anyone unless you want spur of the moment ice cream. read more

Been eating here for years. I make special stops when I am in the area. Love the shakes and the dogs are great. However, the service today was laughable it was so bad. Two teen aged girls working the front were busy taking to each other that when I asked them a question the one with dark hair in braids looked at me like I had a booger in my nose and barked "what's that? I mean like what's that"? LOL the little blond just stood there with a deer in the headlights look. Have things gotten so bad that these kids have no idea how to talk to the public? It's a sad state of affairs. Then as I was eating my food the braided one walked to the restroom with a scowl on her face. Wow. Service is as important as food quality. read more

I have been a customer here since I was a small child and grew up in the area. I now live 4 hours away and must make a trip to the Shake Shoppe every time I return for a visit. I go for the banana milk shake, foot long hotdog with sauce and fries. Hands down it will be the best banana milk shake you will ever have. I wouldn't order a hot dog anywhere else but here. Hot dogs are steamed and delicious and the sauce makes the dog! read more
