The updated arcade and new patio are great, though the middle section now features benches instead of chairs. I visited during an "LA in a Minute" event, which added to the vibrant atmosphere. Which made my first visit even more special. The staff was generally friendly, though one young lady completely ignored me twice when I asked how long this location had been open. The massive Tuesday crowd--featuring the longest buffet line I've ever seen--also seemed to stretch the service thin. Pro tip: arrive before 12:30 PM to beat the rush. At $14.99, the "Bunch of Lunch" buffet is an unbeatable value. The pizza features a signature sweet sauce and great crunch to the crust, while the iconic Mojos are as perfect as ever. The fried chicken was well-seasoned with a nice snap, though I found myself wishing for a bit more of that flavorful batter found on the potatoes. My family and I visited this location a second time since the re-opening. We arrived on Saturday around 11:30am (1/2 an hour after opening). We all opted for the lunch buffet. I was a bit disappointed that there isn't a minimum age requirement for the kids price as most restaurants have this. As soon as we paid for our lunch, we got seated and noticed right away that there wasn't any pizza available in the buffet line. In addition, the buffet line was quite long entering in the main seating area. The buffet menu consists of multiple pizzas, fried/baked chicken, mac/cheese, pasta, mojo potatoes, steamed veggies and a salad bar. The buffet layout is two sides - one side for the hot foods and the other side for the salad bar. We noticed that the restaurant couldn't keep up with demand. Either pizzas or hot food wasn't available. While in line, my husband noticed that pasta was missing that my child wanted. He tried to flag down an employee and they ignored him several times. So we have to go into line several times to get the food items we wanted. In addition, the salad bar could use a fresh update. The salad bar consisted of dried iceberg salad that looked like it came out of a bag and the fixings didn't look too appetizing. We had my son's flag football year end party at Shakey's, and it went very well. They had just finished redoing the inside. Right by the front area, some of the setup looks a little different, almost a bit intense visually, but they have added some nice areas on the side that work well for groups. The staff were friendly and helpful with our team and families. The food was what you want from Shakey's, hot and satisfying, and it worked great for a team celebration. The kids had a good time, which is the main thing. Overall, good experience and a solid place for a team party. I am giving Shakey's 4 stars. read more

We went to shakeys for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was packed! We ordered at the counter then sat down to wait for our food. It took about 30 minutes for food to come during prime dinner time. We ordered the medium pizza and mojo combo, along with cheese bread and 2 pieces of chicken, which came out to about $40. we liked the firehouse pizza more than the shakeys special. The mojos were absolutely delicious and I wish we got more of these. The food was more than enough for 2 and we took home about half the pizza. Free parking in the lot. read more

This is my childhood! I've been coming here since I was in elementary school. Birthdays, graduations, football games, fundraisers, and even Friday pizza nights were all celebrated here. I love their Bunch a Lunch buffet- so much variety to choose from. You can pick from spaghetti and meat sauce to baked chicken and mash potatoes and gravy and steamed veggies. But their fried chicken, Mojo potatoes, and their pizza is the star of their buffet. So delicious it has me going back for seconds. At the time of posting this review, they just finished renovating the place to make it feel more of an 80's themed dining area. They still have the arcade/game room but they put up more 80's memorabilia to give the place a nostalgic vibe for anyone who were born or lived through the 80's. The service is great. There are workers always clearing off and sanitizing tables and seats. They're always helpful and attentive to customers in need. 5/5 stars from me. Visited after the remodel. Pretty disappointing. Ordered a pizza mojos and 2 piece chicken. After about 30 minutes the pizza came but the mojos and chicken didnt come out until an hour after we ordered. Right before the pizza came we also ordered the new carnitas machos. That didnt come out for 45 minutes. Super long waiting time. It was a friday at 8:30 but that still seems excessively long. We asked a male server and he walked away to check but never came back. I asked a second server and it seems like she didnt realize that we had ordered those items. Maybe I was a little too patient as I think waiting an hour to get all the food is not good service. We eventually got all the food but not until we were sitting there for an hour and 15 minutes at that point. read more

After driving by constantly and seeing the remodeling progress dragging on, I finally saw signs that the reopening was going to happen. Wasn't positive but my wife and I decided to check things out that evening. For our efforts we were treated to a trip back in time in the "way back machine" to when life was so much simpler. The remodeling was very well done, capturing the original essence of a Shakey's back in the 80's. The pizza and Mojos were up to par and while we didn't give it a go that first evening, the salad bar looked good if not quite as epic as in the past. Made it back a couple of times to the newly remodeled location here in Culver City. The upgraded cosmetically and it looks great. Had the Bunch of Lunch buffet a couple of times and it's what you normally expect for here. It's a lot of your Shakey's favorites for the price, so I can't complain! Had an issue with them running out of Pepsi zero at their fountain machine (I'm a type 2 diabetic) so I brought it to the attention of an employee who took the time to try and address it. Unfortunately they were out of the syrup, but the nice manager quickly accommodated by giving me a bottled soda to complete my meal. Food is food but service is seemingly a rare commodity in the post-Covid restaurant industry. I'm very glad and applaud this location on selecting really nice, hard-working people who care about their work and do right by us customers. To a person the staff here are great. There was an issue with our order when the pizza oven broke and we were waiting forty minutes for take out. When we asked the manager Liliana what the issue was she stated that one of the pizza ovens broke down and our pizza was burnt. She kindly upgraded our medium sized pizza to a large and gave us extra mojo potatoes and two beverages while we waited. She also gave me a Shakys Mojo stuffed animal dog as a gift for the long wait. Liliana was so nice and accommodating and excepted full responsibility for the problem. This was our first visit back since the remodel opening and she handled the problem professionally. We live close by and are very happy they finally reopened and the food was delicious. We will definitely return because of the way she took great care of us. read more

We were excited to see Shakey's reopen in our area and decided to stop in recently. Overall, the experience had a lot of potential -- especially thanks to Wendy behind the bar. Wendy was fantastic: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. She made us feel taken care of from the moment we sat down, and her service alone is the kind that makes you want to become a regular. Management should know she's a real asset. That said, I was very surprised and disappointed to learn that tipping wasn't an option on our tab. I always want to tip for great service -- especially when someone like Wendy goes above and beyond -- and not having that ability is a real deterrent. I'd love for this location to become part of our regular rotation, but until tipping is available on tabs, it's unfortunately not a place I'm likely to frequent. One other small note: the lights above the bar are extremely bright and could be softened a bit to make the space more comfortable. All in all, there's a lot to like here, and with a few adjustments -- especially allowing tips -- this could be a great neighborhood spot. And once again, Wendy is wonderful. read more

Love the remodeled Shakey's here on Sepulveda! I came in for the lunch special and was accidentally charged for 3 adults instead of 1 adult and 2 kids. I didn't notice until after we finished eating, but when I mentioned it to the employee, she immediately called the manager. I'm not sure if the managers name was Melinda or if that was the employee, but they helped me so kindly and without hesitation. I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally they handled it. The atmosphere was great, and the manager -- a woman with glasses who was helping me around 1:20 PM -- was very helpful. Great customer service overall! read more

We ordered the Golden fried chicken, Ultimate meat pizza, Shakey's special pizza, Famous mojo potatoes. The portions were large and the food tasted great.
