Shan-Gri-La is a great time for kiddos! If you're looking to take your little explorer to a free, minimal cost fun time, visit as a family! However, it's Vegas, so bring your hats, waters, misters, whatever you do to fight the heat out here. We brought our niece and nephew here because right now life is all about dinosaurs! They were able to meet Dino man, we explored the very colorful and decorated front yard, saw some gems, baby Dino eggs, a T-Rex and even some aliens. Dino man makes it very fun to be involved and interacts with you, he has little free toys or snacks, games that get you prizes; and little stuff on sale that is very affordable to go towards your experience! He has water, soda and ice pops for your fun time also! Overall, it was a great experience for my nephew, he was super interested in his yard, car and garage! We will be back to see Dino man, but maybe when it's not too hot so he is amazed a bit longer! read more

What: little museum park for kids. The front of the house is decorated with lots of different dinosaurs and there's a table of toy dinosaurs to play with. Logistics: Before you go in, Dinoman will give you the rules of what you can/can't touch. There are two dinos the kids can sit on for photos. Then into the garage and you can pick a few items (snacks, little toys, candy) for free. There are coupons to spin a wheel and win other things and he also has fossils that he explains and lets the kids touch. It's a very sweet little place obviously put together with the love of dinosaurs and little children by a retired teacher. Our nieces (ages 4 and 7) enjoyed it and spent about 45 minutes there. It's truly awe inspiring what Dino Steve has put together here. He gives away so much not only to kids, but literally everyone that comes by, young and old. He said that he is open Fridays Saturdays and Sundays. During which time anyone can come by to the open garage. Inside the garage the walls are lined with toys and candy of all sorts. The first thing he does is have everyone hand sanitize their hands, then offers everyone a plastic bag to hold all the goodies they are about to get. Everyone picks a random ping pong ball that has a number on it. The number corresponds with a colored egg on the wall. Depending on the color of the egg, you get to choose from a wide variety of toys or treats, and you can get "Dino bucks" that can be accumulated to purchase larger toys. I came out of just this part with snacks that probably would have cost $8 at the store. Which is wild to me. And he is giving out stuff like this all day! To a lot of people! You are even allowed to return once a day to do it all over again. Dino Steve does a little bit of a "tour" of sorts, showing some fossils, talking about dinosaurs, and playing with the kids. There is then "the park", which is his front yard that contains all the dinosaurs and toys for kids to play with. It's kind of a cramped area though. Lastly, there is the Duck game. All over the front yard there are probably hundreds of different kinds of rubber ducks. You get to pick a number and that number gives you a "quest" of sorts. Most if not all of which involve trying to count all of a certain type of duck. If you get the number right, you have the opportunity to get even more prizes. Frankly, Dino Steve is nothing short of a local hero I'd say. It's only once in a lifetime that you come across someone that gives back to the community as much as this. read more

Good thing we went right before school was out because shortly after about 10 minute we've arrived elementary schoolers came in with there bicycles. Such a far drive for us but we wanted to see and experience this place because all the post on Facebook are all so positive. We came the day before Halloween because we knew Halloween day would be much busier. Our kids enjoyed it. The owner of the house is so nice. Before we walked around they had us play to win prizes. DINO Steve It is a great idea of a fun place for children to see and play amoung life sized dinosaurs, yet unfortunately, it is very overcrowded and difficult to walk around to see everything. Dinoman Steve advertises to come and play games and get your very own dinosaur well, I'm guessing that's only if you guess the answers to his game's (one of which several visitors were asked to guess the correct number of ducks placed around the "park", which is his front yard. Most of the ducks were hidden, and we weren't allowed to touch them or walk on the rocks in the yard, leaving a most awkward amount of space to venture.) I would have liked the questions and informative games to be relating to the dinosaurs, so that was disappointing. Dino Steve was friendly and gave out snacks (candy, small toys, and bags of chips for visiting and choosing an egg with a number relating to how many snacks one would get). We did appreciate that, and one of our grandson favorites was a Norwal he chose! We also thought it a clever idea to have a saddle on a couple of the large dinosaurs to pretend one was ridding them. Parking is in front of his house, on a busy street, limiting the number of visitors, yet several families visited during the hour we did on Friday, March 31st. It might be best for Dino Steve to revise his website to better reflect what he has to offer and specifically that it is technically not a "park"... it would be even better if he could obtain a grant to purchase the property next to his and transform it into a park or move to a separate area where the dinosaurs could be viewed more and enjoyed. These are just my humble opinions/observations. read more

I wish I could give this place a 10 star rating! Love, love, love this for kids and adults. The guy who runs the prehistoric park at his house is super nice and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. The experience was like trick-or-treating for me and my kids. I even got a piece of candy and a dinosaur. Everyone that goes gets candy and a Dinosaur. He has so many different kinds of candy and dinosaurs to choose from. He had a cute game set up where kids could win certain amounts of candy and dinosaurs. There are designated times when you can go and choose something awesome from his garage and designated times you can walk through the dinosaurs in his yard. Earlier in the day you can go walk through his dinosaur park in his front yard, before it gets too hot. I really love how this guy takes Covid so seriously. He asks everyone who comes whether they are vaccinated or not, wears a mask and sanitize their hands before touching things, Before they even enter his garage. Everyone who comes gets a plastic baggie to take home of their goodies in. I do know that he has a donation box and loves people to donate bags so the kids can take things home. I will definitely be back, so my kids can have fun experiencing it, while I donate money and bags too. Fun fact- my friend told me the guy who runs the dinosaur park used to teach at her middle school in Henderson, when she was in middle school. My Little boy loves it so much, we came two days in a row. Steve sure spoiled him, again! I was looking for family type places to check out while in Vegas with my lady and her daughter. I stumbled across this place on Yelp and did not expect the experience I had when I arrived (as I didn't read the reviews prior). I was expecting to just see a bunch of dinosaurs in the yard of this person's house but it was much more than that! It's a bunch of experiences in one. You'll be greeted by the friendly owner, who will walk you through the garage by first allowing you (and whoever you're with) to choose an egg at random, and whatever color dinosaur you receive you get to choose some free goodies! You get to keep the egg, and the dinosaur inside as well :). After that, the owner showed us a collection of Halloween inspired toys that moved, and then finally to the yard with the dinosaurs (and zombie babies). There's no cost to this experience, but tips are welcomed! Overall it's a great place to take your child (or children) at least once. And for the adults, it's a great place to feel like a kid (again). read more

What a great idea to entertain kids! This generous individual decided to dedicate his front yard to housing a dinosaur museum. I have driven by at Christmas time and now most recently around Halloween. The house was all decorated with heads everywhere and zombies. I am sure kids just love it. Plus this man hands out treats for Halloween and he even gives tours to help kids learn about dinosaurs. Donations are not expected but it is worthwhile to help out this retired teacher who obviously enjoys giving back to his community. The house is super easy to find and you will know it when you see it as the yard is just filled with all kinds of dinosaurs and other creatures. It might be a little much for the little ones so I would recommend it for school age children. read more

Unexpected detour on our drive from the Hoover Dam to Las Vegas. Our 8 year old and 13 year old were both enchanted by the dinosaurs, the games and the treats. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

A retired teacher named Steve owns this Dinosaur Home, and he is probably one of the most kind-hearted and generous people you will ever meet! He shares his passion for dinosaurs with anyone who wants to visit. His front yard is small, but filled with dinosaur statues, both huge and small, and assorted other very interesting dinosaur-like collectibles. His garage houses free gifts and snacks for kids, for adults who love dinosaurs, and anyone else that comes to visit! He opens it up on weekends to greet people and let them enjoy his amazing dinosaur collection; otherwise, you are free to drive by anytime and take pictures from the street. Street parking is pretty easy, but I hear his place gets packed on Halloween, so be prepared. If I could give him 10 stars, i would! read more

I think Dino Steve is truly a gift and Shan-gri-la is an amazing accomplishment that he is sharing with the world. I'm not entirely sure everyone knows what this man is doing. He has dedicated his own HOUSE, garage and front yard for the enjoyment of others. He is using his RETIREMENT MONEY to pay for everything you see there (with a little bit of the money he might get donated or from the VERY reasonably priced gifts/prizes he has, so he probably doesn't profit much if anything). I think it's absolutely absurd for anyone to negatively criticize a place like this. What kind of places exist just for the happiness of others these days? And also FREE. You literally walk in there with nothing in your pocket and walk out with a bag of goodies. Sure there are prizes to be won for different activities. You might be bitter if you don't win (like some people that have recently reviewed, not naming any names). But it's a free contest that this man is putting on just to make things exciting and interesting. Like get over it if it's not done to a professional level, this man worked as a teacher his whole life, he's not a professional entertainer or amustment park mogul or something. He's coming up with games that people can enjoy and he has rules to make sure people aren't running through there crazy, touching things, tearing them down, or moving them. If there were no rules then it'd be mayhem, and he's literally just one man doing his best to run a whole experience for everyone who walks through there. It can get a crowded. We experienced it, I guess there's a high school nearby and I'm sure those kids come by everyday- maybe some of them, that's the only place they get exciting things like candy or special attention. There's probably a lot of unappreciative kids/people who take advantage of him too, but he's still out there doing it with a huge smile on his face. I'm baffled by the audacity to suggest he get a permit to purchase the house next to him so he has more space. Like how much money would that cost? Or how many hoops would you have to jump through to make that happen? Not to mention those people would have to want to sell their house... It's not even worth discussing more. Ridiculous. Oh and sure his website could be a little more specific I guess, but we should be happy he has a website and is taking the time to spread knowledge of this wonderful place to people all over the world. We need more people like Steve! What does he get out of all of this? The smiles of thousands of people throughout the years, and it takes a special kind of person for that to be all they need. And no, I'm not related to him or anything. I just made sure to spend some time getting to know him and his background when I was there. I was curious what makes someone do something like this. Charitable and educational foundation- this is run by a retired teacher (very knowledgeable and conversational) who enjoys teaching a little something to newcomers, old (past) and new, young and older--- it is an amazing sight to see. Donations are not expected but warmly received and appreciated. This is a year-round experience so come back and see it as the lights (theme) changes. Our 5 year-old sure got a kick out of it (he likes dinosaurs). After celebrating my birthday on saturday night with my other set of in-laws, we took a short ride here, and enjoyed this unique attraction. It is mostly dinosaurs, but there are other neat things to see such as the huge turtles (rides are encouraged) in his driveway, and the multi-colored ants amongst the huge dinosaurs. There are also Christmas dinosaur inflatables. You can tell there is a sense of humor as you see some of the mouths have critters in them. You can also walk around the property but you are encouraged to walk on the pathways for safety reasons (no running!) Also, little ones are given dinosaur plush animals for free. read more

This place is so fun for adults and kids alike. The Dinosaur man makes it fun and the display of dinosaurs is awesome. The Dinosaur man is a retired educator and makes it fun for all using math skills and introductions to dinosaurs, fossils and allows the kids to take bags of plaster c toys and the kids and adults can play games that allow you to win other prizes! This place is an amazing hidden gem, that's fun for children and adults! We stopped by after seeing it on a drive on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only family, as another one was already on their way out. The Dino Man gives you his full attention as he takes you through a walkthrough of the premises and makes it fun and informative. My two year had a great time and we will definitely stop by again. Dinoman Steve was so friendly; he appeared when he opened his garage door inside with all the toys, candies and Dino decoration which were such cool :). His game was so fun for the kids to play with prizes! He also asked the adults to play which was super generous of him. Everything was so organized and looked like a mini D&B prize counter! I didn't realize this was such a big deal in town. We were just cruising by and stumbled upon this spot. The decorations are sooooooo cool! We drove by at night and even my jaded pre-teen was stoked to see this. We ended up coming around later and my toddler was over the moon to see it. The man is soooo nice. My kids had an epic visit. Fantastic experience! This is a retired CCSD teacher who finds satisfaction in continuing to teach children about dinosaurs for free. He gives guided tours, plays games with the kids/parents, he's always cheerful (the Dino-man that is) and he extends himself to the public almost every day of the year. This is definitely something to see. The owner is very knowledgeable and this stop has become educational for my kids and has intrigued my oldest 10yrs old to pursue her interest in this subject. My kids love to stop by every few months to check out the games & monthly theme. The owner is great with kids and know how to get them involved while educating them. What a great place to visit! Dinoman Steve is an awesome man full of Dino facts. I took a group of 5 total adults and had a safe, socially distant, tour by the Dinoman himself!
