Stopped in during a trip to drop my daughter off at Linfield College. Found this place on Yelp (thanks) and walked over from the campus. The Barbers were welcoming and friendly to this California walk-in. Got a great cut from Roger and even some restaurant tips. Sometimes I get anxious at barber shops because I am not a sports guy. I was surprised when Roger asked me some nuanced questions about my work and about my home town. This put me at ease and I enjoyed the experience. Price was more than fair. Two other customers were in the shop and I noticed they both had their partners with them. I don't often see that at barber shops. The women they were with (I am assuming they were partners) seemed very relaxed and comfortable in the shop. Later that evening, we went to the Sushi restaurant that Roger suggested. I was bringing my dad here every other month to get his haircut. They are always spot on with his haircuts. Their hours of operations need to be changed to reflect when they're there. My Dad has stopped by 4 different times to get his haircut they have been closed. Still a great place to get a haircut when open. read more

So you think that a clipper fade is easy? As an Army veteran, I can tell you that is not easy and it takes skill to make it look good. John has the skills to create a perfect haircut. This was my first time at this establishment and I was very impressed! It is a classic barbershop with a nostalgic feel to it. This was also my first barbershop that had a full size pool table in it. What a great way to pass the time waiting for your haircut! I was a walk-in and was seen in about 15 minutes. John asked me what kind of cut I was looking for and I gave him a very brief description "#1 on the sides about halfway up and finger length on top"... to an outsider, this might sound like I was a Code Talker from WWII, but to a trained barber like John, it was music to his ears. About 15 minutes later, I was done and my haircut was perfect. The straight razor finish on my neckline was the final touch. Standard haircut- $20.00. Total cost with my veteran's discount- $17.00. Used to be my go to barber shop in McMinnville but as long as COVID is going on I won't be back. On multiple occasions I have stopped in for a haircut and found the barber and often one or more patrons (today I observed 4 counting the barber) not wearing masks. The shop is small to begin with and I personally don't want someone breathing down my neck without the most minimal of protection. I also observed the barber openly talking about how masks dont really work which is blatant misinformation and for someone who is in such a position of trust to the public this is outright dangerous. By far, this was one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I had the second generation barber cut my hair and he did an excellent job, especially for the straight razor trim at the end of the cut itself. The new barber Michael does an amazing job wether it be a fade, a trim, neck shave, beard trim and he even does designs by freehand and they turn out amazing! He is personable and friendly without being overbearing like some barbers and hairstylist can be. Definitely go check him out you won't be disappointed!!! The place was pretty laid back and had a pool table in the middle of it. Appointment only, but no big deal, they weren't busy at all and as I walked in there was a seat open for me. My given barber was John, a man with whom conversation easily flowed. It seemed like only a couple of runs of the clippers and a few snips of the scissors that my haircut was done. I couldn't see in the mirror the whole time, so when he finished, I wasn't expecting much more than a lousy haircut. To my surprise, John did an immaculate job with little effort. It took only about 18 minutes to give exactly what I wanted, what a pleasant surprise. I'll go back to this place again in a heartbeat. What a place! They did a great job working with my 4 year old and made it a good experience. Even cut my hair and did a good job! Will definitely be going back. It's a step back in time and certainly a man's place, but were very friendly and respectful. $15 for kids and $17 for adults. Just the cut. No wash or style (it's a girl thing) so don't go in expecting a salon feel. Perfect for this country family! read more

John cuts my hair and is personal but not fake, like a barber is supposed to be. He's not the most skilled barber I've ever had, but his hands don't shake and he does a consistently decent job while not making a big deal out of it and doesn't charge anything close to $40 (which is what better haircuts I've had would cost.) Well worth a 25% tip every single time to keep real barbers like this in business. read more
