I was looking for a sushi place on the east side of the Bronx and this one appeared. It started as an AYCE restaurant and it is no longer, I was curious to try it out. I went on a Sunday evening where it was packed by 8pm. Food:2.5/5 Let me get specific, I got the sashimi deluxe ( $25, rating 4/5) but, our appetizers and my meal was really disappointing. Firstly, I asked for the FJ Noodles and the server explained that they do not serve that dish, even though it is on the menu. I was like seriously?! Then, I ordered the 10 Piece Hot and Spicy Wontons appetizer to get a wonton dish covered in a sweet peanut butter sauce. Similar to the sauce served with Vietnamese summer rolls, not spicy at all. The takoyaki was clearly not fresh as its shape on the plate was that of a truffle (a round mold with a flat base) and instead of circular sphere. Finally the soup dumplings were meh (not very flavorful) and they served without black vinegar and ginger instead a side of sweet soy sauce. Finally, the udon soup was 75% veggies, 5% beef, and 20% udon. I was so disappointed I ended up eating a portion of my partner's food. Only going back for sushi. Service: 2/5 Honestly, this is place where you need to flag down a person to place your order. I was hoping the service button around the table worked but, clearly not as I waited for over 20 mins for the waiter to notice me. After the menu confused (talked about above), we slowly got our food and chugged our water glasses to distract from our hunger. We had to flag the waiter again to refill our waters and he didn't talk to us until was asked for the check. Not great, but maybe I expected too much. All in all, I may order sushi from here but I not sure I would go back in person. Aside from the sushi, the rest of the food seems meh.

Shangerila is easily one of the best Asian fusion cuisines in the Bronx. My favorite entree is the General Tso shrimp. This jumbo shrimp dish is satisfying and filling. The batter and sauce is perfect; I thoroughly enjoy it every time. When I first tried this dish, it was super spicy (not to my liking). When I had it the next time with out the spice, it wowed me! The lo mein and fried rice is also great here!

I used to live in the area and this was one of our favs! Food is good, staff is friendly. They have a pretty good roll selection and the portions are generous. The only downside is that the music they play sometimes isn't appropriate for a restaurant. Had lunch there today and midway thru my meal a song came on that had nothing but the word b*tch repeated over and over along with other inappropriate things. Otherwise, great neighborhood placs

In a regular here. It's a good place. Can't miss with the sushi or platters. Service is decent as well. Flounder filet is excellent, and all cooked rolls are excellent as well. Spicy shrimp is really good too.

Is there vegan options available here?

Yes. They have veggie dishes, tofu and soups that could be ordered.

When the ayce be back on the menu?

They don't! I've asked about this for a while now. I don't think it'll be coming back, due to the cost. My husband and I order 5 rolls plus two appetizers and spend about the same when we were doing all you can eat. Hope that's helpful.

Hi is the AYCE menu still an option for dine in?

Has not come back as of late 2022

    How much is the AYCE?

    24.95 weekdays and 26.95 Friday-sun

    Do they do birthday specials?

Sure do! You can eat for free ON your birthday, with proof of ID. After 6 PM only

I wish there were more locations of this in Manhattan. We made an order at the desk before we seated ourselves and for a Saturday evening, there was quite a bit of open tables which was great. I ordered the Szechuan Braised Beef Noodles and they were absolutely delicious. The noodles tasted a bit like ramen noodles but they were able to grab all the delicious and garlic flavored soup. I really appreciated the soft-boiled egg with its marinated egg whites. I also loved the big tender beef chunks as well. Overall, I really cannot wait to go back to Zhongzhong noodles and I hope that they open up more locations. I will say though that since I last went to the Roosevelt Island location, they have raised their prices quite a bit - maybe $2 or $3 per dish.

No frills, simple menu and the chef seemed exacting and totally focused on his craft. I ordered the original shoyu ramen with chasu and red spicy sauce, while wife had the Wafu Shoyu ramen with chicken. Mine was robust and had a clean taste, although I felt the broth was a bit light for my taste compared to some NYC joints. Wife's ramen had even more watery broth - I think because she ordered the "wafu" broth style which menu claimed had no meat, and together with lean chicken meat without much fat, we both agreed it was tad bit boring. I think it's a matter of chef's philosophy and not necessarily a bad thing, but I preferred a bit richer, more viscous broth than this one. We would stop by again if we're in the area, but won't go out of our way for it either. Still, a welcome addition to the East Bergen County area!

THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Service was a little disappointing. ---- One (young) waitress seemed very inpatient and was a bit flustered throughout the evening. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = We arrived at about 5:45 PM on a January Saturday evening and snagged the last available table. Turnover is relatively quick here though because all people are eating is ramen, but there was a large party of about 8 people waiting a good 15-25 minutes after we were seated.

I also enjoy the kitchen apps and entrées- the miso eggplant and agedashi tofu are great appetizers. The salmon teriyaki is always perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh vegetables. As other reviewers have mentioned- the construction of the rolls can suffer at times- for me this usually looks like 1 at most 2 pieces losing their integrity when I pick them up. My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. This place is incredibly easy to miss unless you're intentionally looking for it. I've gone past it…read moreso many times without a clue this establishment was even there. I loved the ambiance of the place, it was so cozy, warm and relaxing. The music they were playing matched perfectly with the vibe and aesthetics of the place, it was soft and romantic in a way. There are plenty of tables available for groups or solo dates. This is a perfect place to sit down and journal or get some work done. I literally only waited 10 minutes from start to finish to get my takeout, I sat down on one of the available tables and immediately started reading my Bible app, truly relaxing. Half of the tablets were occupied but everyone appeared to be relaxed and just enjoying their meals so the noise level was low. If you're waiting for takeout they give you a ticket and then bring your takeout to the table you're at. If you ordered in advance for a pick up you just walk to the counter and they hand over your food. The staff were friendly and graceful. While I was ordering my food at the counter, I was able to see the staff handling some of the food. They were plating, and I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that all of them were wearing gloves even while they were taking the prepared food to the tables. You get 5% off your bill if you pay with cash. There are no atms inside. Now let's talk about the actual food, the star of the show. I ordered the claypot braised pork belly and I was notttt disappointed! This meal was such a unique experience. I am used to eating very flavorful and well seasoned dishes overall so I've tasted plenty of dishes that had more flavor than this. However, I have never enjoyed a dish that was so intentional with all of its textures and tastes. The rice was soft and light, and the vegetables had the perfect amount of crunch and spice, while the pork had a mild sweetness to it. The egg was a perfect add on to put it all together. This is the kind of plate that you have to truly eat everything it's served with to fully enjoy all of the different textures and flavors that it brings. If any of the spices or flavors would've been overwhelming, it would take away from the other flavors every item on the plate has to offer. I put a little of everything with each bite, yummm. The only flaw with the dish unfortunately is that the larger portions of the pork were chewy and a bit dry, which based on other reviews seems to be a thing. The smaller pieces were very tender and delicious. I will definitely order again from here. I'm excited to try their homemade soda, coffees and their summer/spring roles Happy yelping and enjoy
