Cute jazz bar recommended by the locals! We were looking for chill activities near Old Nice and this was one. I recommend coming here around 10-10:30 before it gets crowded so you can at least get a seat or have some standing room because it gets packed quickly and then security starts only letting people in if there's room. The live music took a while to set up and they really only started playing around 11-ish. By then, it's super fun and everyone gets into it. In terms of drinks - for the love of god, DO NOT order a cocktail. The wine and beer is where it's at. If there is one thing to take away from this review, it is to order the wine or even a beer! There is little cell signal in the venue but somehow, you can get a few bars near the bar. It's open until 3 AM or so if you're looking to stay out late. read more

I've been visiting this place for years and always enjoyed the live music, but the current staff (two young girls and a curly-haired guy) is horrible. I was out alone that night and asked them to keep my drink behind the counter for a bit because I didn't want to leave it unattended for safety reasons while I stepped outside to smoke. When I came back, they couldn't find the drink, so I asked for another one at their expense, since it wasn't my fault they had lost it. Instead of handling the situation like proper human beings, they turned it into a huge problem and argued with me all together, even though I explained the situation multiple times in a reasonable way. At some point I just lost it and started raging, because this kind of service is disgusting. All three of them deserve to be fired immediately, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as long as these bartenders are still around. I really hope the owner of Shapko sees this review and takes proper action, because uniting against your customers instead of handling things adequately is the worst thing you can do. read more

I am still in shock... this place should be shut down. I was walking with my friends and we asked the bouncer if there was long wait time... next thing I know he punches me and my friend in the face. We did not fight back. We walked a block away to call the police. The police were not helpful in coming. Not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that the US Embassy mentioned there is organized crime in areas like Nice and other southern parts of France. While we were trying to orient ourselves and call a cab to leave, the bouncer came with 3 thugs and beat my friend and I to a pulp... I mean really beat us. They used brass knuckles and sticks. We had to go to the hospital ourselves because the police did not even sent an ambulance. I have suffered broken nose and stitches. The police basically said that he might not even be tried. I HIGHLY urge you to go look at google reviews from years ago even to see the violence that occurs at this place. This is unacceptable to occur in 2024 in an otherwise beautiful city. Please good look at the reviews of this place on google and save yourself from ending up in the hospital! The owner seems to defend him constantly. read more

So fun!!! We had a great time listening to their live music! This place is one of the gems of Nice. I would definitely go back if I could!

I honestly never write reviews but after this experience I felt it was necessary. First I'd like to say the music was great as well as the atmosphere and the staff inside was very pleasant. However, upon leaving with a friend, we had the most unsettling experience in a club ever. The bouncer would not let us out of the bar. He violently pushed the door closed and my toe was caught. As we tried to open the door again he shouted in our faces and wouldn't let us leave. Finally someone came to our aid, he yelled at that person.... but finally let us leave. It really ruined our night and we would never recommend this place or go back. Really a shame and completely unacceptable. read more

Love this place. The drinks are a little expensive but they are delicious and the atmosphere is great. The Cookie Nuts, an all female jazz combo, were playing when we were there and they killed it. It's got the added benefit of being in Oldtown, which is my favorite area. The mojito is highly recommended (Jameson on the rocks is also good, but that'll be the same anywhere you get it). I will definitely be going back before leaving Nice. read more

The place was jam packed and for good reason. The space is super cool, the music was fantastic, and the setting was intimate. It felt like a private show, because at no point are you far from the stage. The drinks are a tad pricey but it's Nice and the staff was super smiley and happy. This bar is cute and fun. They have whatever liquor you want and make whatever you ask if them. We came in when the owner had just finished cleaning so it smelled lovely and everything was super fresh. They have bands play here on some nights. I do warn you that if you are claustrophobic that this place is not the place for you as the second floor is not that high above the first read more
