I hired him for a kitchen remodel that included plumbing and electrical relocation. Despite claims on his website, he never filed the required permit for the plumbing work and used unlicensed plumbers on my home. When I asked for subcontractor names, license numbers, or proof of insurance, he delayed providing any documentation. I finally got the COI. FUNNY the policy start date was the date after I asked for it. I paid a $12,500 deposit. Work done: Demolition/prep, unpermitted/unlicensed plumbing (which I had to fix), unfinished cabinets, and cans of paint (nothing painted). Certainly not $12500 worth of work. Deadlines were pushed from the promised 2 weeks to a month, bait and switch. The lack of permits, the use of unlicensed trades, the refusal to disclose subcontractor or insurance details, and his increased hostility forced me to terminate him. I tried arbitration via BBB and he has refused to respond. He took off with my large deposit and left me with a torn‑apart kitchen. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this contractor. I should have paid more attention to the red flags. After asking for a general quote via BBB, he unexpectedly showed up at my house, UNINVITED. Predatory behavior, Red Flag 1. Conversation got too personal, not professional on his part, Red Flag 2. Spoke poorly of and to his wife, Red Flag 3.

However, we have to give the Texas State Roofing Company a 1 star on communications. Their communications can best be summed up as horrible. We had them install two roofs. One on our home here in town and also one at our other house 125 miles away. We heard the doorbell ring at 7 a.m. one morning at our in-town home. Five men were standing around on our lawn. We had no idea who they were or why they were at our house. Of the five men, not one spoke English. I finally figured out who they were after one of them called his english speaking supervisor and I spoke with him and he told me it was the roofing crew. No one had let us know they were coming that day. I had not taken down the security cameras or anything. The 5 man crew did excellent work but I do not speak Spanish and I had several questions that I would like to have had answered. The supervisor, who could speak Spanish, would show up for a couple of minutes once a day and then leave. I would never know when he was going to be there. I would even be home sometimes when he showed up but would miss him because he would not let me know he was outside. He actually got mad at me for wanting to have questions answered (I am not a roofer and had a few questions). His attitude got worse with the out of town house. The man said he would call me and let me know what day the roofing crew would be at the out-of-town house. I got a call the day before and drove 125 miles to meet them and take down the security cameras and unlock the yard gates so they could get their truck and trailer in. They were to arrived at 11 a.m. At noon, I began to get concerned as no one had showed up. At 1 p.m., they still were not there. At 3 p.m., I called the supervisor. No one knew where the crew was. They called around and could not locate the crew. No one had called me from the company. Finally, late in the day, they said they had finally located the crew and they were still in the Corpus Christi area and would not get to our house for several days. I drove back to my home, having driven 250 miles round trip for nothing. I had to make another 250 mile round trip later. I stayed at the out-of-town house while the crew worked. It was the same crew with no one that could speak English. I wanted to talk to the supervisor about several things at the house. He would show up once a day for a few minutes and leave without making his presence known. Moreover, this individual became very testy with me. I love the hand driven shingle nails and the material used but hated the lack of communication. If you can avoid that particular supervisor and nail down exact dates and times, I would highly recommend Texas State Roofers.

We contracted Torres Remodeling November 16 to replace our kitchen countertops/ backsplash for…read more$12,500 based on his 30+ yrs experience (which he constantly reminded us of) and his assurance that he was a seasoned professional and had done this hundreds of times and he had the best granite guy in the area. Both men came and measured several times. The quartz guy said he could cut it so our outlets would be flush and changed to match the color we chose much better and we told them that's what we wanted included with the quote. We paid him $7500 up front and he assured us he'd they'd be done before Thanksgiving. Three days to cut the quartz to fit, 1-2 days to rip out old tops/backsplash, clean like they'd never been here, one day to install new countertops/backsplash. On the day we were to start I had to call to find out what time they were coming and he informed us that the quartz we picked was not in stock and had to be ordered and wouldn't be in for 2weeks! I told him we'd pick another one that was in stock and he said "too late I already ordered it". He didn't even consult us, but admitted he should have. It took 3wks. I we told him had company coming in for Christmas and again was assured they'd be done well before the 21st. He and his wrecking crew came and ripped up the old stuff and sledgehammered the tile backsplash and Sheetrock leaving the kitchen a dusty crumbly mess. His crew used a dust vac that spewed into the air so everything had a film on it. One worker cut himself and left blood spots here and there. After they left I had to sweep and mop to get blood up and dust off the tile grout. When Mr. Torres came back to check on their work I mentioned that to him and that I expected him to put up green board or something to replace the Sheetrock before the quartz went up and not just put it up against the bare stud boards AND to fix the hole they smashed behind the refrigerator, and paint the wall where they had ripped the wallpaper off removing the old backsplash. He was annoyed saying it wasn't necessary, but he showed up next day with the materials to fix the hole and install green boards, and some paint telling me "you're welcome " like he was doing me a favor. Again I had to clean. Next day the granite guy and helper came, no Mr Torres , and STILL had to set up a saw outside to cut quartz covering cars, front steps and driveway with powder dust. Then he had to cut inside the house to fit window sill putting that stuff all throughout the house and forcing us outside. Left at 7pm. The next day Mr Torres came to see how he did and I showed him what had to be cut, mentioned the cutting and mess, and showed him the large gaps between the backsplash and the wall. His reply was just to calk it myself. I told him that was his job and he was upset to have to go buy some. Again he was obviously annoyed. Almost done, they tried to put the microwave back up and it didn't fit. The granite man had not measured correctly and didn't make the correct cut out in the backsplash to accommodate it. We were all tired and Mr Torres wanted the balance paid. He said he would get another microwave to fit or have the granite guy come back and fix it. Foolishly I paid him the $5000 balance with his word that he would take care of it. After several days I called and he said he couldn't find one that would fit AND the granite guy was on vacation and it was out of his control. I reminded him that he was a supposed professional and that I expected him to do what he was paid well to do. I was upset and let him know it. He raised his voice and told me I was difficult to work with and he'd never had anyone watch him so closely and "didn't have to take my **** and hung up on me. He ruined two holidays and I still have no microwave. He didn't respond to my calls or texts so my husband tried and was told twice the granite guy would be there and he never came. Today is January 10 and still no resolution. Now I'll have to pay someone else to fix his mess. No stars and do not recommend him for any tasks.
