It's aggravating when you pick up an order that was called in and get it home only to find out you have the WRONG order...especially when you've traveled some distance. It's even worse when you talk to the manager and you get his attitude like it was your fault for leaving with the wrong order. Finally he offered a liter of pop...except, as I told him, I don't drink pop so what good is that to me. Since I don't drink pop, at minimum he could have offered 10% off for the additional fish I had to ordered to complete my ordered, a grand total of $3.20, but what did he do??? He hung up on me! When I arrived to pick up my additional order not only did he tell me I was rude but he hadn't even started my order! NEVER again will I spend my money where they think they can through a liter of pop at you and disrespect you too. There's other Sharks in the area I think will be glad to have my business and money! read more

Can I have more than one fish restaurant that I really like?... For those good folks who won't venture into Chicago's Little Village to taste of Troha's; J & J Fish and Chicken is really quite nice. The young man who is either the manager and/or the owner is exceptionally nice. The store although, is more fast food, rather than dine-in, does have a clean eating area with about six booths. There is a television to capture your attention and stop conversation. There was a fair flow of customers - with large orders. My first visit to this restaurant was for my stepfather's sister, Bessie, who wanted "fish". I was not familiar with the area and saw the restaurant in passing. I had to keep running back and forth to the car to let Bessie know of her options, to which the manager was very patient. He showed me a picture of his child, (a sweetie) and we talked kiddies as he prepared the meal. Bessie tasted it as we drove away and said it was just right. The flavor of the fish was fresh and the seasonings just right. Upon my second return, I purchased two other dinners and a small order of shrimp. The shrimp were tasty and a fairly large size, however, not as lite as Troha's in the Little Village. Bessie enjoy her fish and chicken once more and was talked about the right way of cooking fish - J & J's passed the test. The portions, I might add were large - there was enough for a snack for later. J & J's will be my fish restaurant of choice when I'm in the area. read more

WOW!!!! Let's start with the phone call. I called into this location at noon & asked if it possible for them to fulfill an order of 50 wings and a pan of fries that I needed ready at 4 o'clock on the dot. Of course they said "YES, and we will see you at 4 on the dot ma'am". So of course, after such a pleasant phone conversation, I expected nothing but a pleasant experience from them. I then arrive at the j & j at 3:58 to pick up & pay for my order. Was instead greeted by a young (maybe 15 or 16) year old young man behind the counter that barely spoke English. I informed him that I was there for a 50 wing order placed earlier & gave him the name associated with the order. He then walked in the back to get an older gentleman (I believe he was the manager) who rang me up then walked back to retrieve my food........ So I thought. It is now 4:05 I have no food. I asked how much longer I would have to wait, because I was taking the food to an event and needed my food in a timely manner in order to make it to the event in time. In which he turns with the nastiest attitude and said "the wings take 15 minutes to cook". I insisted that I ordered over the phone & was told the food would be ready at 4. I noticed them packing the wings w/o the fries. So I asked where were the fries, they said they didn't charge me for the fries & I had to pay for those. So I did, because I was so pressed for time. When I received my food I wanted to SCREAM with anger. But I figured it would do me no good. So I want to warn everybody about the HORRIBLE service & mediocre food at this location. This experience had put a damper on my whole evening. They do not deserve to treat anybody else as they treated me, a paying customer. read more

like previous reviews the cashier does seem a little lost in space, I ordered a 6 wing diner extra crispy with extra lemon pepper...the chicken was not crispy an I didn't get extra lemon pepper, plus the Pepsi in the bottle was flat. read more

I eat here a lot however the customer service is terrible as of late. The cashiers seem to be lost and confused. Mixing up orders or misplacing orders!!! The food is usually decent but I really hope they hire cashiers with more experience. read more

Great catfish fillets, catfish nuggets and chicken wings. Haven't tried much of anything else on the menu. Small and most people order for pick up, but can dine in if seating is available. read more
