Even though my 1.5 year old son wanted nothing to do with taking photos that morning, she worked her magic to make the family photos look like he was actually cooperating! She also got a ton of great smiles out of him even though he was at the age of being skeptical of all strangers. We had so much trouble picking our favorite photos because they were all great. Not only was she a great photographer, but also very communicative (I actually felt bad because I was horrible responding to her emails leading up to the shoot, she was on top of her game while I was not) and super friendly, we ended up chatting with her for awhile after our shoot! Upon meeting her, Sandra is super-nice and extremely sweet when we worked with her in Legion of Honors and Golden Gate park. She is very professional, knowledgeable and comes with ideas but is also very open to what we want out of the photo shoot. I like that Sandra is very down to earth and it comes off as that she sees us as people who she is trying to capture, you know sometimes when you get the feeling that you are objects to someone who is just going through the motion? She kept good communication throughout the session, and worked with us to come up with unique ideas that reflects what we had in mind as far as how we want the photo session to reflect who we are. We are both creative spirits so it's important that the photos reflect the fun, light-hearted and playful aspect of our relationship, Sandra was perceptive of our personalities and she made recommendations that incorporate what we requested and what she knows will work well to photograph. My sweety really wanted some waterfall shots so Sandra worked with us to come up with pictures with waterfall in the background. she did some great photoshop afterward as well to further enhance the artistic effect of the photos. She captured some really sweet and playful moments for my man and I, the two of us had tons of fun looking over the photos when the CD came, I feel so blessed to be with an amazing man and I am ecstatic that Sandra is able to capture our energy and interaction in photography, to be preserved, for a long long time. (I mean a Long LONG time!!!) One person commented that that the photos are "fun, sexy and romantic." which is what I was looking for, and another said "they are soo good. my favorite is the one with you in the air, best 4364...that is so fun and good capture of energy. 4378--way to hold him down! 4439-4 with the parasol is so cool b/c it reflects the light in the sky with a prism...and 4177 is like you two are on a honeymoon and made me happy for you! " of course she is then a little sad that she is fighting with her man, but they made up again and I joke that they need to have some photograph taken so they feel all mushy and good inside as well. The way she captures color is like nothing I have ever seen. Also I am not the most comfortable person in front of a camera but Rebecca made me feel comfortable which for me is very hard. Once I received my photographs I couldn't believe that she captured me in all my silliness and made me look really great. People still comment on her photos that she took and always comment about how amazing they are and they can't believe it's me. Just recently I wanted to have pictures of my Godson taken and there was no question in my mind who I wanted to photography him. The pictures came out beautiful. She captured all the innocence, beauty and tenderness between him and his glowing mom. She even captured a few moments with my Godson and me. I recently had an engagement photo shoot with Rebecca and it was probably one of the most fun and…read morerewarding experiences I've had in a long while. When I first met my partner, I frequently thought about how nice it would have been if someone was around to capture the sweet, tender and loving moments between the two of us. After years of being together, that has finally happened! We were both a bit nervous about this at first because neither of us have really been part of a photoshoot before. We were wondering if it would feel natural or forced, if we would find the photographer intrusive. But after a few short minutes of talking with Rebecca, we felt that we could be ourselves and navigate the shoot with comfort, ease and excitement which is not only a testament to her talent, but also to her amiability and her ability to connect with people on various levels. Rebecca is an incredibly creative person which is evidenced by the composition of the photos. She took photos of my partner and me in Red Hook, Brooklyn, which hosts an amazing contrast between natural beauty, industrial grittiness and interesting colors. In two hours we took photos in a variety of backgrounds, including the pier by the water, cobblestone roads, old and abandoned subway cars, industrial warehouses and street corners. The result? Amazing. When Rebecca, my partner and I first met, we talked a lot about what kind of feeling and aesthetic we were looking for in our photographs. We talked about an ambiguous combination of candid shots, pastoral elements, an urbanscape and a good amount of grit.
