The approach is similar to an armed castle, but instead, it is surrounded by an aggressively rude population of Worcesterites...eyes and feet forward! Upon entry, it is legit like the transition on the wizard of oz into color! The staff are extremely kind, even chipper I'd say! After the transaction the fine gentleman behind the counter even gave me some free baklava. My man!! I ordered a plethora of items to get a full run of the menu. Ouuuuuf...SO SUPREME! We finally checked out this place after having it on the "list" for months. The service was fantastic. The owner is very kind and personable. He has quite the sense of humor. We ordered shwarma mix and the beef plate. The falafel was delicious. I mean the best falafel I've ever had. I'm looking forward to only getting a falafel sandwich next time. The platters were great and that garlic sauce is everything. The hummus is great as well. I'm a bit picky with hummus from middle eastern joints. I prefer to have it with the authentic olive oil (a very intense flavor). Regardless it's great. The meat honestly wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Maybe we had a bad batch? This was my second visit to this place. First of all, the food wasn't ready by the time we were told it would be. But that's not an issue at all. It was the food quality. I order Chicken Shawarma. The chicken was not marinated and not cooked completely. The garlic sauce was horrible. I repeat it was horrible. We literally threw the garlic sauce in the trash can. It was bitter. Overall food quality felt as if it was prepared in rush. It was a busy Friday but that can excuse a restaurant to be a bit late but a good restaurant won't let a busy day impact its food quality. The new location for Shawarma Palace is gorgeous. Lots of room and bright! The food is just as wonderful as it has always been. My go to is the Mixed (beef and chicken) shawarma sandwich with garlic. The beef is so tender and flavorful. It just melts in your mouth. The chicken takes Charlie's amazing spices and puts them forward so that they are the star. Then the pickled veggies hit you with just the right amount of sour and bite. It's so so sooooo good. And the sandwich is the perfect size. The only disappointment I have right now is that my sandwich is gone. :-( Whether you're a first time customer or a long time customer, the owner of Shawarma Palace is your best friend. Charlie's Shawarma palace is one of the best places in Worcester to grab a bite to eat! The food is always so flavorful, fresh, and yummy! My favorite thing to get is the chicken shawarma plate, it comes with garlic, baba, extra seasoned salad, rice, and of course flavorful and delicious Shawarma pieces! Charlie has always gone out of his way to make me feel appreciated and welcome as a customer in his place. The neighborhood food place which is no more a hidden gem. The food is really at par with any big restaurant as it is lovingly made. Everything is so fresh. I did try the chicken shawarma, the kibbeh, the lamb shawarma and of course the Baklava. I can't say no to a baklava. The chicken was juicy and tender and so was the lamb. The kibbeh platter was great(even for me to finish that for a lunch was tiresome as the quantity was great) with the sides. The hummus I got was nothing special however the babaghanoush was really flavorful. The Kibbeh in itself was dry but with everything else it was a great pairing esp with the Mujaddara. It's lentil cooked along with rice or bulgar along with some onions and tomatoes. Do try it. A great vegan and veggie option and also for those who don't want carbs (rice mainly). The people working over there is extremely professional and always smiling and will help you with any substitution you may want. Food and service is great. Was drawn here after I watched a TikTok video highlighting a Middle Eastern restaurant and their dishes. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! We ordered the chicken and beef shawarma (wraps) and they were fantastic. Each was under $10.00 and tasted amazing. Filled with flavor, crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. Service was very inviting and courteous. The place was about half-filled when we arrived and remained that way during our visit. There was a steady flow of dine-in and take-out customers. Seems like I'm going to be the odd (wo)man out on this place. I was super excited to try considering the reviews and a few friends I talked to, recommended Shawarma Palace. Lebanese food has been my vibe lately so I took the trek out to Worcester in the chaos. The location is not convenient at all, it was a good thing I had someone with me to stay in the car while I ran in to pick up the food. I got the mixed shawarma plate which included chicken and beef, rice or mujadara (I chose the mujadara), salad, baba, garlic paste, hummus and pickles. The meat was okay, the chicken was tender but beef tasted fake in some way. I enjoyed the mujadara over everything else. The salad had an odd dressing on it that was too strong for my liking. The "pickles" were on top of the salad. I'm pretty sure they were PICKLED something. It tasted like a pickled olive, if that's even a thing. It was weird. I'm a huge fan of hummus but something about it left a bad taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I won't be ordering it again and not sure I'd be back, especially considering the parking BUT the man at the register and woman preparing the orders were absolute gems. They were very personable and friendly. They offered me free falafel (which hell yes I want to try!) and also had me sample some of their baklava. I never had it before and was a big fan. So if ANYTHING, I would go back mainly to support these genuinely sweet and hard working people. What *shines* brightest about Shawarma Palace is the genuine kindness and hospitality that the owners/ staff treat you with when you come in. I stumbled upon Shawarma Palace while walking around downtown Worcester about 20 minutes before they were set to close and as soon as I came in I was greeted with so much warmth and patiently listened to and guided as I made my selection for what I wanted to eat. I eventually settled on the veggie platter as well as dolmas (rice wrapped in grape leaves), and they even gave me a slice of complimentary baklava topped with pistachio. An older gentleman (I believe one of the owners), brought the food out to me, asked me if it was my first time, and walked me through what was on my plate; it was so sweet, and I appreciated him walking me through the flavors and short anecdotes on the nutritional benefits of the items. The veggie plate had a diverse spread of different items- a side salad with tomatoes and fresh greens, falafel, eggplant, hummus, a garlic sauce if some sort, and pita. The hummus and eggplant were my favorites! The eggplant was uniquely crunchy as if it had been breaded and fried and was divine when dipped in the hummus! The staff of this place were so warm that my tense shoulders eased as I ate in the space; and the food was so fresh and delicious.
