Place is in a small strip plaza, easy parking. Lots of seating to dine in, nothing fancy but great food. Had the mixed shwarma plate and it was delicious. Here are the upsides of Shawarma Shop: The food I tried ranges from decent to very good, and the price is reasonable. The chicken kebab we had was juicy, the hummus was smooth and delicious, and the yellow, herbed rice was really excellent. But the chicken shwarma was a bit dry, and a couple of the pieces on the end were downright tough. The portions are a good size; my guy and I were able to split a plate, supplemented with an extra kabob. But here's the downside of Shawarma Shop, and why I probably won't be back any time soon: I had a really hard time communicating with the staff, and they charged me the wrong amount. The menu clearly states that you can add an extra skewer of any meat for $4. I ordered shwarma, and asked for an extra skewer of kofta. The guy behind the counter seemed not to understand what I was asking, and kept shaking his head no. Finally, the other employee in the store said, "Okay." But instead of kofta, I was given a chicken kebab (shish tawouk). When the counter guy was giving me toppings, I asked for radishes, and pointed to the pickled radishes. He didn't seem to understand what I was asking for, and attempted to give me every other topping before finally giving me the radishes. I was then charged the price of a sandwich ($5.10) instead of an extra skewer ($4). I pointed this out, and after a bit of confusing back and forth they changed the price. I've eaten in a lot of restaurants where there are language barriers-- both in non-English speaking countries, and in non-English speaking establishments in LA. But usually, saying the proper name of the food you want to order is enough to get your message across, which is why I was surprised to run into so many difficulties. Also, they were out of beef shawarma when I visited on a Sunday night; you might want to go earlier in the day to ensure everything is in stock. read more

I had a chicken shawarma wrap for dinner which was decent. Not as much meat as barakat would provide and no pickled turnips. I felt satisfied however because it was fast and on my way home. The next morning I've been running to the washroom and having the runs. Terrible stomaches. I would not recommend this place as obviously the meat they served me was no good. read more

Shawarma shops are a dime a dozen in London, but this place is so delicious I had to add them to Yelp just to write a review! Their chicken is moist and flavourful, hummus is fantastic, and they have some of the best baba ghanouj I've ever had. The service is friendly, and the prices are great for the huge portion sizes. This is a reliable, solid-value shawarma shop. Very flavourfull without being greasy. All the usual fixings. The meat has some nice browned bits which impart a lot of flavour, and the sauces and condiments taste quite authentic. All in all, hard to find fault with this place, especially at $6.50 for a shawarma. read more

The place smelled phenomenal as soon as we walked in. The staff was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. We could not make up our minds as there was quite the selection and everything looked so good. I ended up getting the shish tawook and WOW! I was born and lived in the Middle East for quite some time and hands down this is the best shish tawook I have ever had. My girlfriend is a vegetarian, she got the falafel platter and absolutely fell in love! Amazing overall experience and we certainly be going back! read more

This place has always been great till today, Sept 17/18 at about 5:30. I order 2 chicken shawarma, 2 falafel shawarma, 1 with no garlic as the garlic sauce is not vegan, 2 large hummus, 2 pita chips. I'll not bore you with the events of the 35 minutes (no lie) it took for the young man to put this order together. Suffice it to say there was a lot of wandering around and at least 10 minutes of him pushing the chicken around the grill. A complete lack of interest in what he was doing was clear. Considering the ear bud, I guess I should have expected it. So once the chicken is done cooking, then it's time to begin making the wraps. First the two falafel, then the 2 chicken, not all four at once. I don't know why all the wraps weren't put together while the chicken was cooking, might have saved a little time. One of the wraps was marked "no garlic" as I asked for one of the falafel to be without it. Then he "fills" the hummus containers, 3/4 full. I see this but by now it's been 35 minutes so I was willing to take the loss just to get out of there. I get to the car, NO PITA CHIPS. So I go back in to get the chips and I complain about the lack of hummus. "This is how we always fill them." NO it isn't, they've always been FULL before. I am a little frustrated so say "This place has always been excellent, I do not understand why this took 35 minutes, or what's going on in here today" He replies "you saw me working, I was working the whole time, what do you expect me to do?" MULTI TASK, do more than one thing at a time. He does add a little more hummus, but still nowhere near full. So I get home and my wife takes a bite of the falafel wrap marked with "no garlic", she's vegan you see, falafel, no garlic, and she gets a great big bite of CHICKEN. Well didn't that just top off this ridiculous display of not giving a crap. I hope the owners see this; there is no email address I can find. That young man needs to be educated in customer service or let go, this line of work is clearly not for him. The pitas were very poorly put together as well, many bites of wrap only and they fell apart. 40 MINUTES. VEGAN GETS A MOUTHFUL OF CHICKEN, ¾ FULL CONTAINERS OF HUMMUS, FORGOTTEN PITA CHIPS.
