Excellent food and service. The beef two ways was fantastic and so was the flat white. Great choice for dinner.

Cost for the museum: Adult $20 / Child (5-15years) $5 / NZ Student $15 / Seniors 65+ $15 / Family (2 Adults, 2+ children) $45 / Infant (under 5) Free Actually, we didn't know about the museum here. We came to have lunch at the diner after visiting the the National Transport and Toy Museum next door. However, combining a meal here with a visit to either (or both) museums/collections makes for a great outing. Restaurant: + Spacious and clean + Extremely friendly and helpful staff. I don't remember her name, but the person helping us was awesome. + Clean bathrooms (very important for the Mrs) + Books, toys and coloring pages and markers available to keep the kids busy and happy. + Kids menu + Delicious food. Although it says it's a "diner", the quality of the food here (as with all NZ eateries) is of a much higher quality than your typical diner/greasy spoon in the US. Our twins shared the pancakes off the Kids menu. Good sized portion of 3 medium sized pancakes topped with a bit of syrup and berry compote. The pancakes were much thicker (about three times thicker than a typical pancake at home) but still light and fluffy on the inside. We shared an omelet (cheese, mushrooms, spinach) with a thick slice of toasted ciabatta bread, as well as a chicken pie with salad and fries. The pie was great (flaky crust, tasty chunks of meat and gravy on the inside). The salad was a lightly dressed, field greens style (no wimpy ice berg lettuce and ranch dressing here). The fries were a bit over salted, however. Overall, a great meal. We were thinking of getting a banana split for dessert at first, but wound up being too full :-( Located at the Wanaka Airport. Definitely worth stopping in.

We were pretty tired from a long drive so we just went right to the diner to eat. The options were a bit limited. There were only a few pies left and the few that were left weren't very good. We both ordered the beef pies and a side salad and fries. The pies were pretty small so I was still a little hungry after my meal. There were 2 nice booths in the corners but right after we placed our order someone took our table. What was frustrating was they just dropped their hat on the table and then went up to order after us. Guess in NZ you can just leave your stuff at a table to claim it. Try to do something like that in LA and not only will your table be taken but your stuff will be gone as well. So yeah. This place would be better with a few more comfy booths.

Twizel be but a small, gateway town to Mount Cook/ Aoraki, but somehow this quality eatery exists…read more I think like most, we already had quite a bit of red meat up to that point, so the Asian inspired menu with chicken and fish was a pleasant sight. The eatery also houses Burkes Brewing Co. which is a part of the the NZ Ale Trail, so fresh suds poured from clean lines were had alongside our dinner. I ordered Fusion Fish & Chips (35 NZD; sake marinated battered fish, aurora sauce, and fries) and the S.O. a Chicken Burger (30 NZD; marinated fried chicken, nagoya sauce, mayo, tomato, slaw, and fries). We missed that the chicken burger was fried though somehow this came out a tad cold which tells me this was reheated. My Fish and Chips, on the other hand, came out piping hot. The batter was a little thicker on these bad boys (hence the fusion to English style fish and chips?) and the sauce more a tomato based creamy sauce than tarter sauce. I was ravenous so this was consumed in earnest. This came with a refreshing side of shredded cabbage, the aurora sauce serving as a good dressing for this. I'd say I was mostly a happy camper, though the boy probably not so much. Though our goal was to avoid red meat, we still ate heavy with all the fried food. Pricing was on the upper end, but there isn't much room for competition around so it is what is it.

    Dominos - GREAT

Ok, when you see a Dominos (well, if you're from the U.S.), you may not typically think "Great…read morelunch option!" This is partly because it's not always a bargain, at least not in Hawaii (where we live). But when we were on the search to feed our 7 year old twins and spied a familiar pizza spot on the horizon, the dynamic duo decided that they "had" to have pizza for lunch, especially since the other option in consideration (by mom and dad) was fish 'n chips. We walked in, were immediately welcomed and explained how the two different menu options worked (one for take out and one for eat in). Hell, I wasn't even considering an "eat in" option since there wasn't a dining room in sight. I conveyed this to the Mrs. and she was like whatever gets these kids fed. So I settled the family in the dining area (upstairs) and headed back down to do the ordering. Looking at the prices for a pie ($5 NZD), I figured that these pizzas must be of the "personal pan" variety, ya know, a mini pizza for one. So I ordered a cheese pizza for each of the girls, a veggie for my bride and a Italian sausage (which wound up being much different than I was expecting, more a hot dog taste to me) for me. Since we need fluids, I ordered the 1.5L soda and garlic bread as well. Grand total: $25 NZD! WHAT!?!? That's about $17 USD . . . I could NEVER feed a family of 4 in Honolulu for that. Bargain! After 10 minutes or so, we were notified via a monitor upstairs that our order was complete. I headed downstairs and this dude was standing there with 4 MEDIUM sized pizzas. I verified that this was my order and, surprisingly, he nodded . . . why, yes it is. Shocked, I grabbed the pies, soda and bread, and headed upstairs. My wife saw the full sized pizzas and the look on her face said it all: guess we're having pizza for dinner, too. The service was fantastic and efficient. The store was exceptionally clean. There was a customer restroom. The price was RIGHT - a medium size pizza for $3.40!!! Thank you Dominos New Zealand.
