We hired Melanie for our April wedding. We made an absolutely great decision there. We first met Melanie to do our engagement photos at the Blanton, those obviously turned out stunning, as she was able to get both of us to open up a little bit and get some good shots of us. Highly recommend doing an engagement session first, the chance to work with her twice was so awesome! Emails with her were always responded to in a very timely manner, and she was very helpful with any questions I had, so great to work with. She and her assistant James showed up and were ready to go on time, kept our day running smoothly through all the photos we wanted taken and they got so many shots of things that I didn't even think of! Finishing off the night with a gorgeous nighttime shot! Their personalities shone throughout the day, everyone was talking about how amazing and fun our photographers were.This was the first time that Melanie had worked with James, but you could not tell in the least, the two worked so well together and then the way they worked with the guests...I can't compliment them enough! As for the final product, it was beyond compare. Somehow she made it seem like when I scroll through the pictures of the day that I am just walking through memories of that day. It's so amazing, I truly am unable to pick my favorite pictures from the day, because they're all beautiful. I'm so glad that we hired her for our day, she made it truly great the day of and then the gift that keeps on giving, the memories she gave me are a true treasure. TEN GLITTERY STARS! She-N-He are great. We found them at a "wedding extravaganza" convention in 2009. Most of the photography booths were hard to tell apart, and it seemed like theirs was the only one with a definite /style/. I didn't interact with "he" much, but "she" was awesome. Melanie and a helper photographed our wedding. They were friendly, relaxed, and totally flexible - there was no rigid list of shots to get, and they did some fun stuff working with the location. The number one thing that my husband and I wanted to be amazing for our wedding were the photos. We looked through many many portfolios before landing on She-n-He as being undeniably the best. We engaged She-n-He for the Engagement Photo/Wedding Package. Mel is a lovely lovely lady and we met her for lunch some days before our Engagement Photos and we had a blast talking to her. She is very prompt in answering emails and very good with getting to know you and gauging what you want. She worked with my husband's and my chaotic schedule to land the perfect day for our Engagement Photos (Which were STUNNING). I LOVE MEL & STEVE!!!! I just wanted to start off with that, because it's the truth! If somebody just wants to read the beginning of this review, then that is all they need to know!! Mel and Steve are seriously the BEST photographers/team and they captured our engagement session and wedding perfectly!! She is so incredibly talented and welcoming! My husband and I were a bit nervous about taking our engagement pictures but after the first picture was shot we were fine and had such a fun time!! It didn't feel pushed or forced at all - it was actually a ton of fun!! AND THE PICTURES -- they are so incredible!! She is definitely not your average photographer - she is happy to try different things and stay clear of the cliche engagement and wedding pictures. Let me start with the comment my mom made in the days after our wedding "Melanie was amazing. That woman was literally EVERYWHERE. I don't know how she does it. She didn't miss a thing." One sign that you've chosen the perfect person to document/share your day with is when countless friends and family members stop to tell you how great it was to interact with your photographer. Why I LOVE She-n-He . . . . . I found info about She-n-He while searching online for local photographers. I looked at several different websites and called/emailed a couple of people. Then there was Melanie. I called her and we talked for about an hour, about not only pictures but all things wedding. I knew after talking to her that I wanted to meet this quirky lady. After meeting with her and seeing her work and realizing how passionate she was, Lee and I knew they were the ones. Let me just say, I really dislike taking pictures so I really didn't want to have an engagement session, but ended up doing it because I wanted to get comfortable being photographed. When I told Melanie, she was so excited. I originally knew that we wanted to do something unlike all of the typical engagement pictures. Lee and I came up with an idea to have a cake decorating lesson of me teaching him at our house, because we are both chefs and met at culinary school 7 years ago. Melanie loved it, but then had a request of her own. She wanted us to do the second half of our shoot right below a bridge at dusk. We were game! The day came for our shoot and I starting out nervous but ended up not wanting to stop. We had an amazing time with Melanie. My husband (Bert) and I met Melanie and Steve at his sister's (Sheryl) wedding. The photographers at weddings I'd attended prior to this one were always a bit standoffish, but not Melanie and Steve! They were in the mix yet not intrusive and were friendly with everyone putting them at ease. We talked about photography basics all through dinner - thanks to their openness and willingness to share, Bert bought his first "real" camera and has been hooked on pursuing photography as a hobby ever since! Now to the good stuff ...Sheryl shared their wedding photos and I was hooked not only on photography but on She-n-He's amazing talents! When Bert and I got engaged several months later, I knew without a doubt who I wanted to take all of our pictures from engagement through to wedding - it had to be Melanie and Steve. I hired Melanie as my wedding photographer after I saw a portfolio of her work at a wedding convention in Austin. From the moment my fiance and I talked to her the first time, we felt confident and happy with our decision. She is a wonderful photographer who talked with us about the general feel we were looking for, as well as specific shots that we wanted. She got up on a tall ladder to take a large group shot of our wedding guests from above, only a few weeks after giving birth to her first child! That's dedication! She had our photos on a personalized photo website after a very short turnaround time, and they were edited beautifully and looked fantastic! We got the photos on a disc after only a month. I was so satisfied with her dedication and professionalism, and I chuckle to myself every time I hear one of my friends complain about not getting their photos until months after the wedding. They should've gone with She-N-He! We didn't use Steve's design services, but as a graphic designer I can vouch for the quality of his work based on his portfolio. Very fun, clean design. I have a background in photography and design, and consider myself pretty good at spotting the real professionals when it comes to photos. After seeing so many terrible wedding photographers online and at bridal shows when my fiance and I were looking around, I was so relieved to find someone who I enjoyed talking to and being around AND who really knows what the hell she's doing. I mean, if I see another wedding photographer blowing up a shot with terrible lighting, trees poking out of brides' heads, and Wal-mart photo booth posing and using it AS THEIR WEBSITE PHOTO AND ON A GIANT POSTER AT A BRIDAL SHOW (sorry, I really am yelling it just upsets me so much), I will throw up in my mouth. Melanie is a pro, she knows her technical stuff and actually works full-time as a photographer (imagine that!) Her prices are reasonable, and though she's super busy she's responsive and listens. My fiance and I had an engagement session that wound into the night running around to different locations, and we were so blown away by the photos that we knew for sure she'd have to do our wedding. Everyone who saw the engagement shots was super impressed. I've done some modeling before- and even pro photographers usually end up with mostly bad photos and a few good ones that they use. I have so many bad pictures of myself as a result. Mel had way more good ones from the session, all frame-worthy and images we'll treasure forever. Oh how do I count the ways?! Mel can do no wrong in my eyes. We hired She-N-He to photograph our New Year's Eve wedding last year and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice! Mel not only took fantastic pictures but managed to have such a fun time with us and our wedding guests. We got so many compliments on how much fun our photographer was.
