I made an appointment with Chris, solely based on availability, and did I ever luck out. Chris was amazing. She LISTENED to what I wanted and what my concerns were. We literally sat in front of the mirror together before she did anything so I could talk to her about what I liked and didn't like about my hair. She immediately understood what I was after and she totally FIXED MY HAIR! After she was done she asked me to run my hands through my hair just to double check that I was good with how the cut was going to lay, etc. This is the first time in over a year that I woke up the day after a cut and loved my hair. What a relief! I finally found my stylist! :) I am so thrilled to have found Tonic and Chris. The space is creative and comfortable...the staff are friendly and funny. Love this place. I love Chris. Every stylist is top notch and I know from their social media they travel and do continuation training to stay up on the latest trends and techniques. I see Micah who's amazing and hilarious; I'm pretty Type A but I always let him do whatever he thinks is best for my hair and I've never been disappointed. But Liza, Libby, and Shannon are all amazing as well. I cannot recommend them enough - actually I've had a friend from Chicago get a pretty drastic cut last summer and she went here based on my recommendation. Over Christmas my sister, who lives in Austria, booked an appointment with Sienna for a cut and color (her first cut in two years and the last time she had it colored was probably 10+ years ago) and Sienna did such an amazing job taking how it'd grow out into consideration and she was so pleased when she left, I was completely obsessed. I've never been unhappy leaving this salon, in fact, I always feel like a million bucks. Plus they have wine and coffee which is great because by the time I get there I'm needing one or the other :) Just a great crew with great skills and products. Love you guys! I prefer cooler blonde highlights if that helps give anyone more context. Beth takes the time to walk through your specific needs, including dealing with less than ideal water conditions in my scenario (harsh well water) and is also just a pleasure to talk to! The salon is also very nice. Very welcoming and charming. I currently consider it my therapy :)

Four bridesmaids and the mother of the groom trek to Salon Allure for some high falutin', super stylin' hair flair. Armed with muffins, fruit and champagne, this was to be a few hours to relax before the madness... Salon Allure has a BEAUTIFUL new space. Relaxing, classic, smooth and contemporary. Nestled in an up-and-coming stretch of Union Street...it's poised to pamper. Nice digs. The good... Heather did my hair and the hair of one other bridesmaid. She was talkative, congenial, gave me the perfect "country club" poof hair. A little bit fancy, but mostly I looked myself, but a grown up. She even hid my streak (for the most part), and I'm sure the bride appreciated that ;) She curled the hell out of the other girl's hair...looked beautiful. The bad: The rest of the staff just seemed terribly unenthused. It was disappointing. The girl that did two of the girl's hair was hardly friendly, borderline curmudgeonly. But, whatever...it is what it is, and then...we got the bill. I am sorry, my friends. If you are going to charge $95 for a pretty novice looking updo, you best do it with a damn smile. $95. I was in SHOCK. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. None of them took over 40 minutes. My blowdry style: $45 3 updos: $95/pop Mother of the Groom: $80 So we are talking, around $500 with tip to basically rearrange some hair. Make an effort. SERIOUSLY. So, basically...this place needs to get over itself....or step up to the plate with better work and better service. (this excludes Heather, she was great). But 50 percent still equals: pretty lacking. 3 stars is generous, as it may have been an off day. But hey, your friend only gets married once, and I don't live here anymore...so one chance is all they get....we could've gotten better styles at JC Penny for almost HALF the price.
