Unfortunately the business has really changed in the last few months and I would no longer recommend. It started with an unannounced change in acceptable forms of payment which was only made clear upon picking up my pup (no more credit cards). Then it was an unannounced change in costs for services, again, also found out after services were rendered. I called and made an appointment, showed up for the appointment today, and I was told "we don't have an appointment in the system and we're fully booked today." No attempt to right the wrong. 3 egregious issues and no change in how they treat their customers. Proceed at your own peril. read more

I have contemplated writing this review for many months now but I do not want to be silent and allow another dog & owner to get hurt. This was the first grooming experience that my adopted dog had with us (his new family). Since this seems to be their speciality, working with adopted dogs/ dogs who have never been groomed before, I thought this was the best place for my pet. Safe to say this has been my biggest and only regret with my adopted dog... I trusted this place and their groomers for over four hours (general time for a big dog w/ mats). I paid around $130 but paid triple the amount in medical bills. My dog came back silent, not his usual bouncy self. After google deep diving, I knew this was a normal response to such an experience, especially, since it was possibly his first ever time going to the groomers. After he came back, we (my family) were concerned since he was crying and looking for comfort. (he was neutered before his adoption and had similar behavior displayed when he had an infection) We quickly went to the vet and found multiple infections, around both ears and his arms, along with small cuts around his pelvis and neck. Disturbingly, he had identical circle marks on both ears. Same size and where the most infected area was. We are still confused since these marks have left physical and mental scars on my furbaby. We have since gone to another groomer but he still does not allow us to pet his ears without crying. He has since gotten better with time but this experience still hurts us. Please if you care about your dog family member, please spend a little more to go to another place. DO your research and check your dog right after he comes back to you from any groomer. I'm so happy with my dog's grooming! She's never been to a professional in her 9 years of life. I thought for sure I would get a report that she was too skittish or uncomfortable to have the full service done, but when I showed up an hour and a half later she had her nails clipped, ears cleaned, and teeth brushed and she genuinely seemed happy and excited to be there. She's a husky also, so the girls really took their time deshedding her. Her breath is sweet, her ears are sparkling, and no longer do I hear the clip-clip of her hooves on my wooden floors. 10/10 will return. read more

Groomer was late at drop off so I relayed my requests and specifics to a woman named Mel who was curt and surly. The groomer Bailey was more professional at pick up but defensively relayed she was doing what she had been told (by Mel). They cut my girl way too short and too close in her sanitary area (where she is sensitive to burns and rashes) which I had mentioned. At pick up as I expressed my concerns Mel was extremely argumentative and rude again. Just know there was a disregard for my thorough description of 4 specific things I wanted them to abide by. In addition I was quoted a cheaper price when I booked than what I was charged (her size they claim). Be aware before you too are left frustrated, disappointed and angry at the unprofessionalism. read more

If you have 3-4 hours to wait for your dog to get a $50 bath go to this place. Appointment times mean nothing to them. They claim that it is because there is only one tub to wash the dogs but three hours for my dog to get a bath is ridiculous. I took him in at 11 and was expecting the whole process to take 1-2 hours as it usually would. After 3 hours and no call I had to call them multiple times to get ahold of someone and they told me it would be at least another 30 minutes and my dog had just gotten out of the bath. No grooming was done. My dog was still wet and I was charged $50 for what? A mediocre bath? When I called to talk to someone about it again NO ANSWER for an entire week. Still have not talked to someone about this issue. Find someone else who cares about more than money read more

When I booked an appointment for my 12 year old malamute mix, they answered the phone as Uncle Dan's pet grooming. I was not told the store had changed ownership until the day of my appointment when I arrived and noticed all the changes. I had to ask them where Uncle Dan was and was then told of his retirement. I was concerned because my dog is older and has anxiety issues that Dan was able to work with well. After explaining my concerns with staff, they assured me that they could handle my dog and there wouldn't be any problems. When I picked my dog up, he came out to the front limping on his front paw. The staff saw this and suggested maybe it happened in the cage. I was concerned but had to leave to pick up my daughter from school. At home while checking him out, there was a 1-2 inch gash cut in his neck that was clean and hardly bleeding. We took him to the vet where they placed him on antibiotics and sent home with cleaning supplies. Our vet bill was just over $100. I was very upset. The shop didn't initially call to check up on Kane after they saw him limping out of the shop. We called and left a voicemail for the shop and we never received a follow up phone call. Very disappointed. Uncle Dan took great care of us and I feel we were mislead by the new owners. The least they could have done was call us back to follow up on Kane. I can't in good conscience recommend this business. read more

I found this place on Yelp. They were one of the only places open before 9am on a Friday so they won my business! I was even able to get a same day appointment (got an appt for 2 hours after calling). I brought my dog there to get a full groom for $45 which appears to be the average price around here. The place wasn't the most modern but it's a place for dog grooming so it's understandable. There were 3 grooming stands and a total of 4 groomers when I went. There were probably about 5 other dogs there. The dogs that aren't getting groomed stay on the floor and run around with each other. That seems like fun! I was kind of surprised they didn't ask for any bordatella or other shot type history but my dog is up to date so it was ok with me. Anyway, the owner Dan listened to all of my requests. He personally groomed my pup. He even had my dog ready at the estimated time which normally doesn't happen at other places I've been to. I think he did an absolutely great job on my dog which I am not used to either since my dog is very fidgety during grooming. I'd say it is the best hair cut she has ever had! Dan was very nice and I will definitely come again next time my pup needs a grooming! read more

I have been here several times and in the past I have even referred people to them. But the last two times (which is after it changed from Uncle Dan's to Shear Magic), I have been disappointed with the results. I clearly communicate what I want them to do, but the finished product is not close to what I asked for. After the first time when I gave very specific instructions about how to groom my dog's head and face and it didn't happen, I expressed my displeasure that my instructions had not been followed. I got a warm response and apology. So, I thought I would try again. Bad idea. My advice is if you choose this place, make sure you have the undivided attention of the person who is going to groom your dog, tell them what you want and don't want, and have them repeat it back to you. Maybe then you'll have better luck than I did. read more

Our regular groomer was booked up for the next few weeks and I wasn't really happy with some of the abrasions I found on our dog each time. Found this biz on Yelp.com and liked the reviews. Called them to see how soon I would be able to get our dog in and they told me that I had an appointment for the next day for 12 pm, that it would only take about 1-2 hrs and would be $45. I told them that I choose them from the reviews. I brought our dog in about 11:50 and left him there with several other dogs running around under the groomers feet. The woman mentioned that all those dogs were waiting for their bath. Well, I should have asked questions like how long will this take. Most of the time it's about 1.5 to 2 hrs. Since I hadn't heard from them at 3 pm I called to find out if our dog was ready. I was told that it would be another hour and a half, about 4:30 pm. I said NO, that's not going to work and will be over to pick him up. Then, they said half hour. I had to leave for an event at 5pm and had been putting off a few projects since I had been waiting for a call from them all afternoon. I was really put off by the fact that I did make an appointment and no one really seemed to care about that when I picked up the dog. read more

Im from out of town. My sister recommended a place that now only takes small dogs and they recommended Uncle Dan's. This place is awesome. Dogs are underfoot with your permission. Its a very low key family place and I love that. I don't need bells and whistles. I need people who really know how to groom a double coated dog. Uncle Dan's is hands down the BEST. I had taken my teacup Yorkie to 3 other places before and they either shaved him or said he was "uncooperative". All 3Lbs. of him hates going to the groomer but Dan had him looking sharp and extremely happy when I picked him up my dog isn't used to being around other dogs so I was skeptical about him roaming around the shop but I think not kenneling helped with his anxiety. We've been bringing our Shih Tzu here since 2012 and absolutely love it. He was recommended to me by my piano teacher who also brought her dogs to him, and I was very impressed. The price is great! He always comes back happy and with a good cut! They even give them cute holiday bandannas. I love that the dogs can roam around free with each other instead of being locked up for hours. It's like a doggy play date and a grooming in one. They will keep your dog away from the others if requested though, which I have when ours was having knee problems. They are often booked a month or more out, but will call you to come in earlier if they have an opening. Uncle Dan and the others seem great with the dogs, like they almost speak dog. I have had no problems at all and we come about 4 times a year. We couldn't be happier that we found this groomer, and even though we have moved far away we hope to continue here for the duration of our dog owning years! In the first year of his life I tried about 3 other groomers around the metro area. One I could never get a hold of, one he came back with white stuff on his ears, an ear infection, Mickey Mouse eyelashes, and fur so short I could see his skin, and the other locked him in a small kennel for 6 hours and he came back so afraid. He loves it here and is always happy and relaxed when I pick him up. If you have had bad experiences with other groomers who way over charge I would give this place a try! read more

I've been taking my Westie, Tallulah, to Uncle Dan's for several years. It's a bit of a drive for me but worth it. They do a great job on her, and she always looks forward to spending time at this groomer -- that has not been the case with other groomers, where she'd dig in her heels and do everything in her power to avoid going in the door. With Uncle Dan's, she prances in like the owns the place and plays happily with the other dogs until it's her turn to be beautified. It's like grooming and fun doggie day care rolled into one businesses. She always looks lovely when I pick her up and is very proud of her new coiffure. read more

We have been taking our Mini Schnauzer and Corgi here for about a year and have always been treated well. We can usually get an appointment within 7-10 days, but sometimes they are booked solid for 6 weeks. They let all the dogs roam around the back together, but will keep your dog in the office by themselves if you request it. They have always been very understanding of my work schedule and allowing the dogs to stay all day if necessary. Their rates are very reasonable and they charge a flat rate for the first hour of grooming, if it takes more than an hour to get your dog groomed your rate is prorated after that, which I have always appreciated. They are cash only, so be prepared when you pick up your dog to have some cash handy. read more

Amazing staff. Took my 14.5 yr old Lab to Dan's for the 1st time. I was very nervous to take her in anywhere because she's declining, and a little unstable due to a degenerative nerve condition in her legs. They loved on her and took such good care of her she was prancing around when I went to pick her up! Bath, brush-out, nails - she was a little bit of a mess. They trimmed her nails and the hair in between the pads better than she's ever had. I loved their calm demeanor and the attention they gave Pairs.
