ONE person processing driver licenses, answering the phone, handling appointments as well as walk-ins. FIVE hours later, YES, 5 hours we finally walked out. Usually a trip to the DMV is painful and long but I will say that Shelby county knows how to run their government offices. I went in the Wednesday before thanksgiving at 1000 not because I planned this trip but because I had just realized my drivers license was out of date ...... I am an idiot..... so to the DMV I went immediately when this fact was made known to me. I walked to the kiosk - hit renew driver license and our popped a number. I sat down and then my number was called less than 5 minutes from waking in the door. I went to the drivers license window and within minutes I had my temporary license. HEY JEFFERSON COUNTY- can you come take notes from Shelby county and learn how to run your offices. Unfortunately, I can only come here for my drivers license renewal- I live in Jefferson county so I must use those offices for tags and property tax etc...... bummer!!! read more
