At this point I check my balance and I have enough money to cover it so I say run it again and it doesn't work. So I tell him his machine is down and he's like "I don't know what to do". For real?! Call your manager. Idc if it's late at night, he might be real intrigued to know he's losing business over his debit/credit card machines not working. I wouldn't go here. This is the second time the machine hasn't worked.

However, this Exxon transformed a dilapidated corner of Guadalupe & University/Pat Garrison from a lot full of junk cars into a nice looking business, and it is just a block from my house, so we checked it out. The whole place was remodeled a couple months ago and has your typical convenience store items. They run good sales on drinks (2 32oz Powerades for $2.50) and other items, and have a good selection of snacks and stuff. Plus they have a kitchen/diner area in the back, and the girl who works there told me that they would have a vegetarian section on the menu! Not something you usually see in gas station cuisine. 4 stars for putting a respectable business downtown in what used to be urban blight. If they have a couple delicious vegan menu items when they start serving food, I could see this place getting that 5th star...

It's on one main thoroughfare and near many residential homes with a middling-sized parking lot, so maneuvering the lot can be interesting depending on your time/traffic, plus you'll learn quickly which way you should turn pulling OUT of here. Current construction isn't really helping at the moment but this too shall pass. Service has been 99% friendly, always efficient, and the store's been clean. I tend to stop in near midnight or later--after petsits or with insomnia--unless I just pop by for gas on my way to work. They do stock basic grocery items, but all (milk is the exception) have a serious convenience upprice going on. $2.29 for a can of tuna! Fortunately they stock a decent amount of milk and it's always been fresh. I come from dairy people, what can I say, I go through a lot of milk. They have a tire pump which is working more often than not lately. I wish they'd stock the good lemonade again, and the employees have been great about masking since the beginning.

I was such an awesome high school girlfriend ... :) Anyways, this place has changed a bit since then. I don't know for sure, but it seems like it has also changed owners. The store isn't as brightly lit and the layout is kinda wonky, but if you're stopping in for a snack and some gas, it's not a bad place to go. The store has a pretty good selection of snack food and drinks. The prices are on par for convenience stores. There's nothing that makes this place stand out as either good or bad. The husband and I grabbed a Red Bull and king sized 3 Musketeers - which ran us $4.63. The service wasn't bad, but they also did not go out of the way to greet you or stand out as having above average customer service. Overall, if I'm needing a snack and I'm traveling northbound on the service road near Wonder World Drive, I'd stop in. If I were on the other side of town, or even the road, I'm not going out of my way to stop in. (Note: There are actually gas stations I'd do that for, such as the 7-11 in Austin off of South Lamar near Manchaca or Buckee's.)
