I'd like to share my experience from the night of Monday, 5/18/26 around 9:40 PM. I'm a frequent customer at this location and usually have good experiences here. Tonight, while paying cash, the late night attendant asked me to count the money myself while he remained seated and appeared to be on a FaceTime call. I was surprised because I've never been asked to count money for the attendant before, but I still complied and placed the money on the counter. He then responded by saying, "What is this? I wasn't counting," which led to an uncomfortable interaction. I explained that this was the first time I had ever been asked as a customer to count the money myself. He responded by saying there was "no law" requiring him to count it, and I replied that there was also no law requiring the customer to do so either. The conversation escalated when he stated that customers often leave short on money or act dishonestly, and that he didn't know if I was going to do the same. I found that comment disrespectful and unfair, especially because I stayed there the entire time, waited respectfully, and did nothing to suggest dishonesty. I've always treated this employee respectfully, which is why this interaction was disappointing. I understand working late hours can be stressful, but customers should not be made to feel accused or mistrusted while simply trying to pay for gas. I hope management can review the camera footage from that time to better understand the interaction. I simply wanted to share this experience because the employee's demeanor and comments felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. PS the attendant is the owner of this car. I hate that I even have to give this "so called gas station" a one star when it deserves none at all! I don't know how they have this man working for them gives them a horrible image for this gas station, he was rude and no customer service experience , he was sitting down on his chair not even trying at all! When i went to use a gift card given to me, he said we don't take them anymore; but you can try I don't care and I said okay what can I do he says to me I don't know call the number in the back of the card, you're coming to me at 10pm asking me these questions, I was dumbfounded that he gave me that answer while he just sat in his chair lazy not even trying! The fact that he didn't even try at all sloppy rude person, its a horrible that this is what they hire to represent their company. I'm so disgusted by the experience I had that I will no longer be returning to any shell gas station at all and not becoming a reward member from this company. I will not tolerate this kind of treatment from a business that doesn't appreciate me giving them my dollars! That gift card it's definitely trash!!!!!!! This happened at 10pm shell gas station in upland 720 E 9th St. 91786 upland ca, it was an older guy probably 50s normally works nights has always been rude doesn't change, I asked for his name he refused to give it to me and to give me a managers name and refused as well the date 6/19/25 I believe his name is Philip and there have been numerous complaints about this person and yet nothing to resolve this problem ,with keeping this person here this is ridiculous. This gas station is the pure definition of being convenient (at least for me). It's en route between my home and all of my typical errands up Campus Avenue. It's easy to pull right into and exit out back onto the Main Street. It isn't a large gas station but I've never had to wait for a pump because it isn't in a super high traffic area. The staff inside the convenience store attached is always friendly and they have a TON of snack and drink options for the road. I will continue to support this gas station despite the raising gas prices in California. Buying gas is inevitable so at least I have a positive feeling towards where I buy mine! read more

I don't know how professional they expect their employees to be but what I witnessed was NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY PROFESSIONAL. I walked in to buy a water and I can hear a girl loudly yapping away in the back room. I get my water, head to the register and wait. She comes out TALKING TO HER FRIEND ON SPEAKER PHONE the entire time she's ringing me up and I'm paying. I can literally hear her whole conversation about how some guy was "being a b*&**" and YES THOSE WERE THE EMPLOYEES WORDS IN FRONT OF A CUSTOMER. read more

First I have to say the two girls working this location were so freindly. They were being extremely kind to what appeared to me as a woman down on her luck and one even paid for her water. Absolutely touching. Very proud to see this even at a time when everyone is stressed about their own current situations. Awesome job ladies. read more

Hardly ever have I seen an out of service pump like other gas stations and the employees are always so friendly

I went in to use the restroom and as soon as i go I'm some knocked. "Its busy", I said and they left. Less than 5 minutes later someone bangs on the door telling me I need to hurry. Then again. And again. I finally come out and I see the cashier. "What's your problem" I said. She said there was a line and I turn around and see that there was only one person waiting in there. My sister purchased something so i can use the restroom. The lady was so rude. I go in to do my business and I cant do that in peace. I understand someone was waiting but they can wait there turn and i was only in there for like 5 min. On top of that the lady was just waiting patiently it was the employee that was rushing me.
