Do not miss stepping into their Food and Drink Hall. When we were there, it was bustling with activity. Basically, it is a large food court that you would find in a shopping mall in the States only the Food and Drink Hall is better in my opinion. First thing, we did was to try and find a spot to sit. The place was packed! A kind gentleman gave up his table for my wife and I. Thank you good Sir!! There were about a dozen food vendors to choose from. We chose to try Blazin Pizza. What an awesome choice!!! Definitely the best pizza that I have ever eaten in the entire United Kingdom!! We visited July 2024, and they have probably left the Victorian Market by now. The owners were looking for someone to take over their spot at the Food and Drink Hall. Hopefully, the business that takes over makes great pizza too!! It combines the old with the new seamlessly and has the best selection of shops around. If it's raining, you can get everything you need in here without even stepping foot outside. Heck, if it's blazing sunshine you won't have to step outside. They have every shop you could possibly want in here - new look, french connection, office, Zara, schuh, debenhams, gap and many more. The centre itself is really nice and welcoming and always had a nice atmosphere. There is never any groups of teenage goths standing around either - which I always thought came any shopping centre. The food court is good too, although there could be more seats. They have pizzas, burgers, salads and sandwiches. It's a lovely and clean environment, if I want to go shopping when I'm home I always come here.

Magical is the perfect word to describe this incredible bookshop! Shelves upon shelves of used…read morebooks to peruse while enjoying the cozy ambiance set by the fireplace crackling away in the center of it all - surrounded by Victorian style stained glass and decorative accents! And top it off with a spiral staircase - awesome vibes! The shop is family owned and located inside a very historic building that was once the Old Gaelic Church and was built in 1649! The books are organized by genre and then alphabetically by author's last name - so it's easy to browse. The extensive collection of antique prints is also quite impressive! Many of them well over 100 years old and all very surprisingly priced - covering various subjects including nature and historic maps! Fascinating pieces of history! I could easily spend hours here digging through them all - and the books too. The walkways are narrow and there are steps leading up into the entrance so it's definitely not handicap accessible. There's also an overflow of books piled on the floor in various places - it appears they sometimes run out of room on the shelves so that compounds the narrow situation. There were several people coming in with large baby strollers and it created chaos as no one could get by lol. Staff are helpful and friendly. They also sell nice tote bags with the shop name. I found several vintage cookbooks from the famous Le Cordon Bleu so I had to have those - also found a Victorian novel that looked ancient with a very intriguing introduction so I had to have that as well. We found a couple of silly antique prints of extinct birds from 1876 that we couldn't resist - excellent souvenirs! If you love bookstores, Leakey's is a MUST!! Unforgettable!

Very affordable, cost around £6 and very pleased as was looking for local produce exactly like this, which the local Marks & Spencer's didn't stock. Oh, also check out the whisky flavored condom at the front checkout of the store! There was also a clotted cream fudge, but it was too big a size, so didn't purchase. Overall however, very pleased with the variety of local food that was available at this shop, and if you are looking for good quality and relatively inexpensive food items to take back as souvenirs, then definitely recommend coming & checking out this store. The lovely gentleman who served us, was the co-owner of the shop along with his father, and he guided my brother to a Tartan pattern called "The Flower of Scotland." If you don't have Scottish heritage, this is a safe tartan to get as its got no affiliation or connection to any clan, and can be worn by anyone who is a fan of Scotland. The tartan colors were a lovely lichen green and a blue the resembled the color of the lochs, so just a very pleasing combination which looked great on my brother so the purchase was made! We had some spare time in the morning before had to head to the Inverness airport to catch our…read moreafternoon flights, and so spent a nice hour and a half walking thru Inverness High Street, and was super delighted to spot this Barnado's store, as am a massive fan of charity shops, and especially the bargain prices they sell their books for. So of course upon entering the store, I had my eyes peeled for bookshelves and spotting them in the rear back on the left, made a beeline towards that area, and discovered a treasure trove of great books! What was especially interesting was to find a whole bunch of books relating to China, from Quotations from Chairman Mao to Joy Luck Club! It made me internally speculate as to the populace of Inverness and their reading habits to be honest. The Barnado's had a 4 books for £1.99, which was a fabulous deal. Unfortunately, I could only find two books I absolutely wanted to purchase and so just got those.
