Cannot day enough great things about this shop! My seatbelt broke and I was unable to drive carpool to school. Even though they were fully booked the owner fit me in right away. He stated to the receptionist, Nola, how important it was for me to have the issue fixed as soon as possible. The very next day, at no cost, they opened up the inside paneling and diagnose the problem. The part was ordered that day installed the next. Such great service from a local business. Wow, what a horrible experience! The owner of this company is the biggest jerk I have ever met! We have a car that needed some auto body work done. We were planning on doing some of the work ourselves and have a professional do the rest. We asked for an estimate to have him do the part of the job that we couldn't do and the guy FREAKED OUT. He was totally mad that we wanted to do some of the work ourselves. He yelled, "I'm not interested in your stupid little job" while waiving his hands in the air. When my husband asked him what his problem was he flipped us off!! Wow, I think that the guy is a real crazy. Go to the competition in town called "Advanced Auto Body". I tried to get a quote for my truck to get repaired. I stopped by and they said that the estimator was gone and nobody could help at the time. I called later and checked to see if estimator was available... still nothing. I checked back the next day and found a time that the estimator would be available. I showed up for the 3rd time and the estimator was busy with other customers. They assigned another employee to start my estimate process. After about 20 minutes of gathering photos and information, the employee informed me that she would get the information to Jason and he would respond with my estimate for repair. NO CALL AND NO RESPONSE. I called the next day to see if the estimate was ready... they took my contact info and said that they would respond with the estimate... ONCE AGAIN, NO RESPONSE.I tried back a couple of days later once again providing my situation to the receptionist. NO CALL!! IF YOU WERE NOT GOING TO DO THE WORK... JUST TELL ME UPFRONT AND DON'T WASTE MY TIME. I REALLY WANTED TO DO THE WORK WITH SHEPHERDS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BETTER REPUTATION IN TRUCKEE THAN MOST. I've now had 3 great experiences at Sheperds and I'll keep going back. My first 2 repairs were a result of others sliding into me on snowy roads. Each time, the repairs had my vehicle looking good-as-new. In my latest caper, I backed into my trash shed and put a good size dent in the rear quarter panel of my truck as well as my bumper. While on vacation we ran into a little trouble, literally we ran into it. A half hour later and the sound our car was making told us that the dent in our fender was more than cosmetic. We stopped at another place to have it checked out and they said it would take two hours and cost upwards of one hundred dollars to fix. We decided that that really wasn't going to work for us and decided to try out shepherd's instead and let me tell you it was the best decision we made on our whole trip. Like another reviewer before me, I stopped by the shop without an appointment to get a quote on a ding I've had in my bumper for well over 2 years. Was willing to pay a couple hundred dollars to clean it up. Art very warmly met me at the door, took a look at the damage, gave me a quote for replacing the piece but offered to pop it out, if I wasn't looking for perfection. 15 minutes later I was rolling with an almost perfect bumper and when I went to pay, Art schoo'ed me away with a smile. I ran into a deer that caused considerable damage to my Jeep's grill, lights, radiator, condenser, side fenders, etc. Jason at Shepherd gave me a fair estimate that my insurance appraiser approved. This place is honest and professional. About two years ago we brought on our Nissan that I had just backed into a pole. We had already been quoted twice for almost $1000.00. We drove into the shop for a quote and the owner came out and said "I can fix that, let me just pop it out!" Minutes later he drove out the car and the bumper was completely fixed other than a small crease in the paint! We asked how much and he said no charge! Wouldn't even accept a tip!!! The guys at Shepherd's Auto Body are very professional and seem to genuinely care about their customers, which goes a long way! A couple weeks ago I took my car in to get an estimate on a small dent in my bumper. I told Jason that I was hoping to fix the dent without replacing the bumper completely. He was happy to help and said he would be able to heat up the plastic bumper and massage it out, but that it would not be 100% perfect, and because of that he wouldn't allow me to pay for the work. So I came back the next day and my bumper was fixed in about 15 minutes. There was no sign of the dent other than the bit of missing paint. I am so grateful for the help and I will definitely be returning the next time I need body work done. read more

A bit hard to find... but what a find! Gave me immediate help on a wobbly driver-side door. Two guys came out and helped tighten and get it adjusted back the way it should. I was there 15 minutes. They didn't even want to charge me anything at first, but I insisted and gave them $20. Nice folks who seem to know their stuff. read more

The car looked great...the price was great. HOWEVER, someone stole my Ipod out of my center console...my $350 Ipod. When I called the same day I got the car back within 2 hours of having the car back, the owner, Art Lopez, said he would look into it and do something about it. I offered to bring in the Ipod box and the receipt, he said he would call me back and make things right. Have I heard from him since....NO. Has he returned my phone calls....NO. I would not suggest using Shepherds Auto Body because the staff steals. I was willing to overlook all my change being gone (at least $10.00) but not the Ipod. Who ever took it had to literally dig through everything in my center console because I hid the Ipod and the wires needed to play through my car stereo under everything in the center console. Go to Advanced Auto Body or don't trust your possessions are safe when you are paying $890.00 for a bumper. read more

The work looks good and I think that they did a good job. However, the communication was terrible. First I was told that I would get my car back in 2 1/2 weeks, then the next week, then the next until it was finally almost 5 1/2 weeks. Not only did it keep taking longer, I was the one that had to call and find out that it wasn't ready. Even the last day, I called and asked to know if it was ready and didn't even receive a call back. I finally drove over to find out my car was done. Very frustrating! I could have had the work done in two weeks in Reno. I like to use local businesses. Also, my car smells like an auto shop-it stinks so bad my kids don't want to get in it, even after airing it out for days. read more
