I needed to stay close to the Bordeaux airport given I had a very early flight. My GPS did a good job of getting me to the hotel, but know if you are looking for this place at night- the driveway and entrance are obscured by tall hedges which make you think you have made a wrong turn. . . . . But you haven't . Park and walk in the side of the building in the doors closest to the pool and you will find the reception desk. If your room is on the 2nd floor, also know that there is no elevator so you will be carrying your luggage up and down stairs. The hallways are red checked tile, the doorways with huge race car numbers on them and there are prints of Marilyn Monroe and other American celebrities all around. The bar is meant to look (I think) like an old time soda fountain counter but there is so much "Americana" stuff, I wondered if this is what the French think of us? That being said- my room was functional and clean. The bathroom had a real shower,there was a flat screen TV, and even a small pot that boiled water for some instant coffee in the morning. And although I didn't need it-there was a huge fan mounted on the wall for those warm nights. There is also an outdoor pool and patio area as well as a restaurant that serves breakfast. So why the 4 stars? It was the level of service that I received. I arrived late and asked if there were snacks or a sandwich that I could purchase. The front desk guy leaped up- went to the restaurant and personally made me a ham and cheese Baguette with chips, yogurt and a cookie. And all that for 5 euros! I took it to my room and couldn't have been happier! And that same guy was there in the morning when I checked out and he was friendly and accommodating I probably spent only a total of 6 hours in this hotel, but the niceness of that front desk clerk will stay with me all day!

It's funky atmosphere, clean rooms, pool and proximity to the airport left a lasting impression so we stayed there for a weekend this summer. Everything was exactly the same standard but what made all the difference was the staff. We mentioned to Malka, who was at the front desk that we might do a wine tasting but in the end they were all pretty expensive and far away. The next morning before breakfast she asked us about it and then showed us this cheaper, nearer vineyard. She told us exactly which buses we need to get, printed off directions and told us where to meet the group and she also booked the tour for us. This left such an impression on us and that's why I want to recommend this hotel. Another lovely person who works there is Jean-Luc. He was always at the breakfast and was really helpful and smiley. They're unexpectedly attentive at the Best Wester Bordeaux so that's why my family and I would definitely recommend it.

I'm always nervous when my husband decides to book on hot wire but we needed a last-minute hotel…read morenear the Bordeaux airport for our very early departing flight in the morning. It was a hot wire four-star hotel near the airport and we were extremely pleased - when we arrived we dropped off our car at the airport first and then called for the shuttle to come and collect us as one of the selling points with hotel had a free shuttle. Emilie, who spoke perfect English and also apparently spoke Italian, came to pick us up and delighted us with her fresh and friendly personality! She had spent a year studying in Texas and had worked at the hotel for a couple of months and she can do it all! Shuttle driver, front desk, bar service! Her colleague, Marina was also most helpful I getting us checked in to a beautiful room and telling us about all of the features a hotel had to offer which unfortunately we didn't really have enough time to enjoy. Hotel has a fitness center, sauna a restaurant on site which we did have a quick bite at. We really enjoyed the shower big clean well lit and extraordinarily comfortable bed with the free Wi-Fi. The shuttle wasn't available until 7 AM which is too late for our flight but they were able to arrange a taxi to pick us up and take us to the airport. We would certainly return!!
