On our first visit, we got seats in the first or second row on the floor level. However, we were sort of staring up at the conductor and the first row of musicians and could not see further back. We attended a rehearsal of the orchestra and sat further back (again, floor level). This afforded a better view, at least. Recently, we opted for the balcony. The ticket seating chart did not make clear that there were actually 2 balconies! The first row of the upper balcony did not offer a great view (again) due to the railing. It may be better a couple of rows back. For our next visit we will try out the middle balcony. Acoustics were fine. Parking (for Saturday evenings) is free in a large deck directly across the street.

This museum houses the CSS Jackson which is the largest surviving Confederate Warship. It also has the wreckage of the CSS Chattahoochee along with a replica of the USS Hartford. They also have a full scale replica of the USS Monitor's turret. These were ironclads that were steam-propelled warships protected by iron or steel armor plates. During the Civil War the Union commissioned 42 ironclads before May 1, 1985. The Confederates completed 24 ironclads. After the Civil War there was no need for ironclad vessels any longer.
