Great food, breakfast all day, great service, fun fifties diner theme, highly recommend!

We decided to give breakfast a try at Sherrie's Diner after having lunch here once before. It's always good to see how a place performs across different meals. Right away, the vibe stands out--lots of cool memorabilia that gives the diner a nostalgic, laid-back feel. We were seated quickly and got our drinks without any delay, which is always a plus. I went with the country ham steak, eggs over easy, hash browns, and rye toast. Overall, it was a solid breakfast. The eggs were cooked just right, and the hash browns had good flavor, though they weren't quite as crispy as I had requested. The ham steak, unfortunately, leaned a bit on the dry side, which took it down a notch. My wife ordered the classic combo--bacon, eggs, hash browns, plus a biscuit with gravy. She was happy with her meal, and it checked the boxes for a traditional diner breakfast. In the end, it's a decent spot for breakfast with a great atmosphere, but nothing that really stood out or wowed us. Service wasn't the greatest but the waitress did say they were short staffed. The vibe was nostalgic and kind of cool. Most of the food was average, onion rings were very good. The check showed a higher price than what the menu displayed on the onion rings but realized they charged us for the homemade ranch dressing - $1...something we did not use or ask for. I went to visit my son in Mustang , Oklahoma the first week in April and before I went down there I looked on Yelp for places that I wanted to try and Sherri's caught my eye. I love a good 50's Diner , but it has to have good food and I was not disappointed. If I lived in OKC or surrounding area I would definitely come here often. I also saw they have car shows here sometimes and I'm a car nut so I would come for those too. We started out with the Onion Rings as an appetizer. They are HUGE , homemade and come with Ranch. They were so good and thick with 2 slices of onion in each ring. Definitely get these. My son got the Breaded Chicken Sandwich and it was also HUGE. I tried it and it was so good. I would come back here for one of those. It of course came with Fries or you can choose a different side like Potato Salad and such. I wanted breakfast so I got the Chicken Fried Steak , again HUGE , it took up a plate by itself. It was very good and I liked the Gravy. Some places the gravy taste of too much flour , but this had good seasoning and flavor. I also had Scrambled Eggs , Home Fries , and a Biscuit and Gravy. You can get toast if you prefer. The amount of scrambled eggs was perfect , some places don't give you enough. The home fries had a good taste and had green peppers of some kind on top which I liked. The biscuit was homemade and big , but the flavor was just okay. The gravy that came with it tasted different to me than the gravy for the chicken fried steak , more plain , but that may be because it was on a biscuit and not the chicken fried steak. I don't know , but it just seemed to taste different , probably just me. Our server was nice and checked on us several times and kept our drinks full. I hate it when I'm at a sitdown restaurant and have to try to get the servers attention to get our beverages refilled. The place was busy , but she gave great service and attention. The decor is so cool with all the 50's stuff on the walls , the Coca-Cola machines , old Jukebox , old advertisement signs even in the bathroom which was very clean. We didn't get any dessert since we were both full , but did get a big cinnamon roll for my daughter in law who was at work. They had some big pies on display that looked very good. They also sell t-shirts of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend you coming to eat here because you will come back. read more

Let me start with I'm not a big breakfast fan normally ..However!! ...this is such a cool place! the food is sooo yummy..we had hand battered onion rings, crispy chicken salad, chicken fried steak, eggs and has browns!! Authentic diner with daily specials. The decor has a 50's vibe to it that makes it fun. The menu is from breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, their hours are from 6am to 3pm. We ordered chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken slice roast beef sandwich. All entrées are served with hot dinner rolls that are delicious. The chicken fried chicken was a chicken breast, tender, juicy fried a crispy golden brown, the chicken fried steak was tender with a great beefy taste. The open face sliced roast beef sandwich with gravy was fork tender with a rich beefy taste. Very friendly staff excellent customer service!!! read more

Food: Delicious Service: Amazing Ambiance: 1950s Diner Styles. Came through to visit my pops from the east coast(military I'm from Texas). Had to order the cowboys favorite and boy I tell ya it was down right delicious seasoned with perfection!!!! The PANCAKE, mannnnnnnn that combination of buttermilk and sweet cream made this hot cake amazing, especially with the butter and hot syrup served with it. It can be an easy sweet treat alone. I've never eaten lunch here. Today I did. Boy did I pick the wrong item to eat. Usually breakfast is great. Foods has always been great. Today not so. I ordered the Big something burger??? It looked great. However. It was tasteless. No flavor. Not even after I salt and peppered it. It was very lifeless. The fries looked and felt like they had been left in the basket over the fryer which makes them limp and not the greatest in spite of the fact they had good potential to be very tasty but they were as limp as a dish rag. Now, having said that. They were slammed. I've never had to wait but today it was about 16 minutes before we were seated. That's fine because I knew their food was usually very good. Not sure what went wrong today but the burger was one of the worst this Chef has ever eaten. This will not deter me from going back but it will be for breakfast only. I know that is good. My server was excellent. She too was very busy with customers but did a great job taking care of us. I tipped her well. Don't let this review deter you from eating at Sherri's. First visit to this diner. When I entered, I was greeted by a waitress and taken directly to a table. The moment you step inside, you think it's the 1950's! Decorated just like an old timey diner, complete with the booths used back then. Elvis was playing in the background too! The wait staff are all very friendly and helpful! Most people were eating breakfast. The biscuits looked very big and made from scratch! Next time I'll be ordering breakfast. I ordered the chicken fried steak, onion rings, fries, and mashed potatoes to split with a friend. The portion sizes are huge! The white gravy was very tasty. The mashed potatoes were either flaked or, if real, not very good. They were hard and bland, even though it was covered in gravy. I did not enjoy them at all. The chicken fried steak itself was good, just not the best I've ever had. The meat was fairly thick, but there was more batter around the edges than meat. I ordered the fries crispy, but they weren't. There was also some still soaked in grease and they were also bland. BUT...the onion rings were perfect! A small order was 5 really big and thick and crispy rings! I loved them! The best food we had was the onion rings!! I'll definitely order those again. read more

Cute little restaurant and extremely friendly wait staff. Things are expensive everywhere and it's no different here. A sandwich is $16. They make no substitutions on their menu and there's an up charge for everything. The real disappointment is the kids menu. Eight dollars for what amounted to a cup full of chicken nuggets and fries combined. Four chicken nuggets and fries. They're not even real chicken... These come out of a frozen bag of pressed meat. Was in OKC for a few days on business, and had the good fortune to breakfast at Sherri's Diner not once, but TWICE during the visit. It was that good. The link sausage breakfast with biscuit and gravy was a winner! And pancakes the next morning were equally delicious. We were greeted and put on the wait list as soon as we arrived. We then were seated within 5 minutes. Once at our table nobody talked to us or acknowledged us. We waited 15 minutes and then got up and left. So sad because we had enjoyed going there but will not be back, obviously plenty of other places to choose from that maybe care about people they don't know on a first name basis. read more

Food was okay/good. However our server was incredibly aggressive and rude. Not only did she fumble our order, (we just went with it as the restaurant was very busy) when we asked for a to-go box, she walked away from us, mid request, and shouted at us with her back turned, "TALK! TALK!" I've worked in food and can understand that sometimes you have to be short with your coworkers. But talking like that to a customer? Pretty crazy. It took us by surprise. She also forgot our cinnamon rolls and when we kindly brought it to her attention, she flippantly pointed at the (empty) brown paper bag she left on the table. We showed her it was empty and she eventually got us the cinnamon rolls. It just seemed like she was on....something. I can understand sometimes servers are high on weed, but this was....aggressive. Seems like she was on meth or something. Also saw a server with a lanyard adorned with several dollar bills, as it was her birthday. However, I saw the money touch people's food a number of times. On the way out I saw a server with her entire acrylic nail in someone's soup that was about to be brought to their table to be eaten. Mid food. Incredibly stressful experience. Cool place Known for the good breakfast with alot of regulars. Omelettes really good, bacon good and french toast. They do serve all day with them closing at 3 each day. We have come for years , was one of my dad's favorite places. I seem to get alittle tug at my heart with great memories as I walk in. We came wanting a good old fashion hamburger. We decided on the 3 cheese bacon burger. Was pretty good. I did miss my mustard. We ordered a large order of onion rings. Way too big for 2! Even if you have a husband that loves them. When the main lady sat us down, she said we had a new waitress so please be patient. But, She was excellent! Her feet never stopped moving! All of the lady's always give good service. They even have added clear dividers to the booth areas to make a little safer for our current times. Head over if your in the sw area. Enjoy the coke a cola old fashion diner. This place is consistent with the many positive reviews I have read about it. They proudly display their Oklahoman Best of OKC readers' choice awards at the entrance, and I can see why. I came with a group of five for breakfast at 8:30 am on a Saturday morning. We were seated immediately. The dining room really started to fill up about the time we left at 9:45 am. Our server took care of us well, including answering our questions and making some jokes to make us feel welcome. I was tempted to order their pumpkin pancakes, but I went with breakfast # 2 -- pancakes, eggs, and mean. I chose bacon for the meat. I ordered it extra crispy, and the kitchen honored that request. They're using some middle-of-the-road bacon - not too thick, not too thin with just enough saltiness. The pancakes were disappointing. I was expecting plate-sized pancakes but got pancakes that filled up about 3/4 of the plate. What they lacked in diameter they made up for in height. The exterior was golden brown, which told me that they might be sweet. I was correct. Unfortunately, they were too sweet for my taste. They were also a bit gummy inside. They soaked up syrup well, though. If I were able to tolerate syrup better, these would be heaven for that. The dining room is decorated with 1950s decor and signs advertising products from "the good old days." I think it would great to return and try some more things on the menu - including the SOS breakfast, chicken fried steak, some biscuits and gravy, or liver onions. read more

Pancakes are delicious! I got blueberry and my husband got chocolate chip (came with a lot!!) ; pancakes ARE BIG and filled us up! You also get WARM maple syrup YUM! Food was well seasoned great 'diner food' but had some other options as well or expanded on the typical offering. Waitress was very attentive and kept all coffees and water at the table consistently refilled. Ambiance was fun but not overwhelming. Older stuff on the wall makes for fun conversations with kids. Sherri's Diner is a great place to dine! They have a huge traditional American breakfast menu, brunch, and lunch. You can get many yummy items. They are known for their liver-onions, onion rings, and pancakes. The onion rings is a must try. The breading they use is delicious! The pancakes I thought was average. I definitely want to come back and try the liver. I ordered the traditional breakfast place where I got 2 bacon strips, two pancakes, and eggs. I got so much food! They are very generous. I was full until dinner time. I tried my husband's chicken fried steak and it was delicious. The biscuits and sausage gravy is also amazing! I know, I know.. I keep saying everything is delicious.
