Taylor Creek in Green Bay is my go-to place for Christmas, but when my daughter informed me she needed something from Target that wasn't available in Green Bay and was in Sturgeon Bay, I thought we would make the drive together to Target and see what ornaments were available at this Hallmark as they also sell Old World and Christopher Radko. So I cancelled my trip to Taylor Creek that day, and over the river and through the woods to Sturgeon Bay we went. The place is beautiful and located in Sturgeon Bay's gorgeous historical downtown, otherwise known as Third Avenue. The upstairs has a nice selection and it is well-organized. The space is tight but the shop is also located in one of the historic buildings that line the downtown, so space is utilized as well as possible. The downstairs has everything Christmas! I purchased three new Old World ornaments and all the salespeople were nice, asking if I needed anything gift wrapped and how my experience was there. It was busy but the customer service was excellent. I really enjoyed this Hallmark shop and it had a beautiful selection of everything I was looking for. read more

This is the nicest card shop in town. The store is on 2 levels and is filled with all the classic Hallmark cards and gifts you'd find at any Hallmark store plus a whole lot more. The problem is the whole lot more is a little much for the size of the place. The aisles are narrow and when a lot of people are shopping it seems a little crowded. It does have 2 levels, and that is a testament to the variety of things they have. If you like to browse this is the store for you. As for me, I'm the kind of guy who goes in to get a card, a small gift and is finished shopping. read more

I've been coming to this Hallmark for 30 years, and I've always enjoyed their large selection of items on two floors. However, today when I went in to pick up new Christmas ornaments with my two children and wife I overheard one employee say to another, "Watch this kids and make sure they don't touch anything." The other employee replied with, "Yeah, when I was a kid if you touched something you got smacked." My children were well behaved looking at the ornaments. One was gently pushing the buttons on the ornaments to hear them talk, and the other wasn't even touching them. Neither of them required a "smack." I get it. Kids come into the store and break things, but I don't appreciate the attitude of the comments made by an employee in front of paying parents. We immediately left without making any purchases. It is a shame we won't be able to come back. It was one of our Door County traditions. read more

I've been shopping at Sherry's Hallmark for 15+ years. They always have a good variety of items. I stop in there when Im looking for a gift of any kind, and of course for greeting cards. It it always clean and organized, and the staff is super friendly, and always willing to help me find what I'm looking for, or gift ideas. There are two floors full of lovely items. Despite living close to Green Bay we like to drive to this Hallmark a few times a year. Even though the employees are usually not friendly I like the small town feel of it. After spending hundreds of dollars at Hallmark before Christmas this year on all of the minis for myself and many gifts for others I wanted a few more ornaments after Christmas as well because I love Hallmark. We went to this location on Saturday, January 19th, when we walked in the door we were assaulted by a wall of extremely strong fragrance. I used my inhaler while my husband coughed but we pressed on because I knew they would have a lot of ornaments left because they never go lower than 50% off and no one shops there. We passed a man sitting at the register reading the newspaper and we were obviously the only customers. I had already picked individual Christmas cards, the kind that unfold into scenes, I had to get birthday and Valentine cards, we had already picked 4 ornaments and were still looking. Everyone who collects Hallmark ornaments knows that you have to inspect them before purchase because flaws happen and plus the picture on the box isn't always spot on what the ornament looks like. I was just rewrapping an ornament when the man from the register comes up behind us and says "If you want to look at any ornaments you can bring them up to the register" in a very rude tone as if we were lowlife shoplifters. I replied that we could also shop somewhere else and we left without purchasing a thing. I have been collecting Hallmark ornaments for 30 years and I have always inspected my ornaments, I visit Hallmark stores in every town I visit and I have never had anyone say a word to me about inspecting ornaments. This is the last straw for me with this location. My husband was furious and said we are never returning here and I agree. The employees here always assume all of their customer's are shoplifters. Maybe if they didn't cram so much crap in the store you could see the shoppers easier. All you ever hear is buy local and it's such a shame when small town stores close. Well the reason is when you treat your customers like dirt they will not return. I can guarantee you that we would have been the biggest sale that they had that day if not that week because we planned to buy a lot. I actually cried when we left because I wanted the items I had picked out so much but I could not reward that treatment. I went home and ordered the ornaments I still wanted on ebay.
