It is very swish, with sliding doors, marble floors and big screen TVs behind the counters. Don't worry though; the staff are true Cradley Heathens - warm, friendly and down to earth. They jokingly tease me for being "a bit posh for around here", which is quite the compliment for a girl from Coseley. The fresh and locally reared meat is excellent quality, I'm a big fan of their smoked streaky bacon. They will happily order in more obscure cuts if you ask in advance. The best thing about Scriven and Thornton's has to be the deli counter. It is piled high with all sorts of cooked meats, pies, cheeses and Scotch eggs. They also serve the most incredible hot pork sandwiches - complete with crackling, applesauce and bread dipped in gravy. Understandably, the queue gets big at lunchtimes.

Staffed by some great guys who really know their stuff, and are more than happy to bone, mince and chop whatever cuts you need, and give you great advice on how best to cook it. Prices are also on a par with the big supermarkets, which considering how much better the stuff is, is a proper bargain.

Shifnal's only real supermarket, its not as big as the ASDA or Tesco's in Telford but it does have…read moreits own fresh bakery, roasted chicken counter and deli meats and cheeses. At weekends it can be very busy in here, a lot of Shifnal's older residents do tend to do all of their main shopping in here. They do have competitive deals on some products but on the whole I personally only use it for the bits I have forgotten to pick up on my main shopping as it can be more expensive for some things. They have a great range of wine in this store though and usually have good deals on beers too.
