Best value omakase in town! It's so nice and cute and you can upgrade in real time if you want more. It's easy to book seats and to go w friends or alone. It's only omakase so no sit down tables but that's what makes it cool and fun. Definitely a go to spot for me.

Shiki Omakase is one of the many "affordable" omakase spots that have opened up in the city and I think it's a pretty decent option amongst all the others. I don't think the sushi ventures away from the usual, but the execution, from the rice to the fish itself, is solid. I had the larger 17 piece omakase for a hundred bucks. The nigiri here leans on the side of untraditional, with toppings on each piece. I'm perhaps not the biggest fan of how they decided to handle the unagi, with it being chopped up. The texture became pretty mushy which isn't really for me. The rest was solid, and I think most people would enjoy their time at Shiki.

Very average, but probably has one of the lowest prices for omakase in Manhattan ($65 for 12 pieces or 17 for $100)--seems like they took away a few pieces (and likely reduced the portion sizes) over the years to retain the low pricing. Small restaurant with limited seating, and they seem to take reservations seriously. Luckily, we had reservations because all the seats were filled within the next 30 minutes (we arrived at 6pm). The selection was generally pretty solid, but nothing outstanding that truly WOWed me or gave me the itch to come back. The pieces were quite small, and while we didn't come hungry, we left in search of a heavy snack afterwards. At the end of the day, I could classify this as budget omakase.

My wife brought me here for my birthday, and it was awesome. The fish were very fresh, carefully prepared in from you me, and the service was great. We will be back again since we live close by. Henri T.

Had the best time at this place- We tried there 12 course option which was amazingg!! They have 12-14 seats with 2-3 chefs. Service was very attentive. Courses were all really good. Loved the menu. Watching the chefs prepping was like watching art. Great for date night or celebrations!!

This is a great omakase spot for a quick lunch. Note that they have very limited seating so making reservations is recommended. We came right when they opened and were first to be seated but the place filled up quickly and was full before we got our first sushi dish. We ordered the 17-course. Everything was very fresh and delicious. For example: I don't typically like Uni due to the oceany fishy flavor, but the uni here (they said is from Hokkaido) did not have that flavor and was creamy and sweet. I really enjoyed it and would've asked for another one if I could I typically don't love raw shellfish, but one dish with baby shrimp was prepared very well and WOW it was so good. Probably my favorite one out of all 17 They prepared black cod (Gindara) - simply amazing We had small dishes in between the chef's prepared sushi as well, and one dish served in a white bowl was my favorite - sweet, tangy, savory, and light On top of that, we were here celebrating our anniversary and received a heart shaped sushi. It was so nice of them. I would say this is the best omakase spot in New York. We tried some others, and Shiki still comes out on top for having the most enjoyable flavors (I loved each sushi that was prepared, and that's hard to come by). They're seafood is incredibly fresh. We had more courses here and it was cheaper than the other omakases we tried. If you want to try omakase, you have to go to Shiki. PS. I asked a New Yorker which omakase they'd recommend before visiting and he also recommended Shiki as well.

To be honest, this was the only reason I came to New York. There was no other mission other than to try this restaurant. And it lived up to those gargantuan expectations. The pieces themselves were delicious and very fresh. Each one was well-thought out and I appreciate the lore they give behind each one. I think the best part is that it's very affordable. This was omakase on speed run though we were out of there in 45 minutes. I was still hungry.

This would've been an easy five stars, but the BYOB situation was a bit frustrating. They charge a $20 corkage fee per bottle, which wasn't listed on their website or on Resy, so that was a surprise. That said, the sushi was really fresh! The chef was friendly and attentive, on top of the ginger, and the waitress stayed consistent of refilling water. Aside from the corkage hiccup, the pricing felt reasonable for the quality. I ordered a Wagyu hand roll and the Wagyu with foie gras on toast, both were AMAZING! Overall, I still had a good experience and would recommend it, just be aware of the corkage fee if you're planning to BYOB.

Shiki offers Omakase at a great value: $100 for 17 pieces in just one hr. The quality is definitely on par to the cost, making this 14 seat bar one of the best deals for a quick tasting. I would say several pieces, were slightly under-seasoned, lacking the necessary touch of wasabi or soy sauce to perfectly balance the fish but each piece tasted very fresh. Oyster (4.75/5): loved the sauce pairing and the oyster tasted very fresh Madai (4.25/5): enjoyed the sauce and mushroom pairing here Seafood Ceviche (4/5): Loved the tangy sauce with the lobster, but the lobster was on the dry side. Hamachi (4/5): Smooth texture, but could use more wasabi/soy sauce to balance out. Shima Aji (4.25/5): Not as fishy as the Hamachi, very smooth texture, but could also use more seasoning. Shiro Ebi (4.5/5): Great texture and taste balance, though a little smaller compared to others. Akamizuki (4.25/5): Bluefin tuna was the most meaty out of them all; didn't love the rougher texture, but the taste was there. Hotate (4.75/5): Tasted very fresh and full of umami. Kinme Dai (4.75/5): Red snapper had the perfect amount of wasabi to balance out the fish. Kanpachi (4.75/5): Baby yellow tail taste was delicious and mouth was full of umami. Itoyori (4.8/5): Slowly getting even better. Toro & Caviar (5/5): Toro forever has my heart. The fattiness of the toro with caviar was simply delicious. King Salmon (4.75/5): Mouthful of umami as well, this was a great piece of salmon Hokkaido Uni & Truffle (4.5/5): Usually not a big uni fan, but this was quite refreshing and not bad at all. Sable (4.5/5): Loved the charred flavor, but could've used slightly more kick in flavor; tasted very light. A5 Wagyu & Uni (4.25/5): Couldn't taste the wagyu as much; the uni overpowered it a bit. Unagi (4.8/5): Unagi was very flavorful and had a nice crunch to it.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly omakase experience in NYC that still delivers on flavor and execution, Shiki Omakase is a great pick! Everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. My favorites were the toro & caviar and the A5 wagyu with uni, which were insanely rich and flavorful bites that I'm still thinking about. Since we went during lunch, the pace felt a little rushed -- we had one chef serving just our party, and he was already placing the next course as soon as we finished the last. It made it a bit hard to slow down and really savor each piece. That said, I appreciate the attention and service, and it's probably a different vibe during dinner. Overall, a great meal. Would definitely come back -- maybe next time for dinner to enjoy a more relaxed pace.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This is a fantastic, beginner/novice friendly omakase for a great price! We loved our chef: he was fun, informative, and meticulous in his preparation. The place is small, quaint, cute, and comfy. We chose the 12 course omakase for $65/person because we had a bad omakase experience elsewhere the previous day and we were being cautious. Looking back, we should have done the 17 course for $100/person, but hindsight is 20/20. I have pictures of most of what we ate. Each round was carefully prepared, unique, flavorful, and so fresh! The rice was warm, soft, and most importantly didn't overpower the fish. Before our last few courses, they came around with an a la Carte menu and my husband ordered another toro caviar and I ordered a toro handroll because I wanted to taste a GOOD toro handroll unlike the place we went to the day before. And it was divine!!! We also ordered another oyster dish. Overall, Shiki was a fantastic spot and it restored our faith in omakase. We're ready to be a little more adventurous now because of them. I'm sure people who are more omakase experienced might have more critiques, but this place has great prices, friendly staff, and is an all around awesome place to check out if you want to try omakase without breaking the bank for the first time.

Excellent value omakase for the quality and experience. Shiki is a restaurant featuring I believe 12-14 seats with 2-3 chefs distributed. They aim for an hour per meal though the courses were evenly paced and didn't feel rushed. A sole staff member was providing drinks and service for everyone during my night though she was excellent and very efficient/attentive. The menu is 12 courses/$69 or 17 courses/$100 and you can order add-ons after the mains. The sake menu was pretty good with options from junmai to junmai daiginjo. The chefs were all engaging and charismatic to talk to and there were a number of regulars there, which is always good to see at a restaurant! The omakase consisted of your typical findings and the taste felt consistently fresh with a lot of flavor. Highlights were the hamachi, eel, amberjack, ankimo and toro. The rice was fine, not particularly seasoned or tasteful to me but soft and tight and did the job. The ginger was nice as well. Overall it was a very satisfying and filling meal and for the price of the courses, quality and experience, I thought this is one of the best value omakase you can find and I would definitely be a regular if I lived in the neighborhood!

Great quality, flavorful, and very well done omakase at a reasonable price. Had the 17 course menu for $100 at lunch time. They also offer a 12 course menu for $65. Both menus offer a good variety of fish and flavor combinations. The courses are definitely more classic and traditional but well done and tasty. The interior is small; feels like proper Japan. But it's a comfortable noise level -- some quiet background music, which makes it easy to talk. The omakase chefs don't really explain much about the food -- they just name the fish and dish when they serve you. You can see how they prepare everything right in front of you. The pace of the courses are good. Nice attention to detail from the chefs: I've been here twice and both times when the chef noticed that I was left-handed, they placed the food at the different side of the plate. Service is attentive and quick. The second time I was here, we were celebrating my sister's birthday. At the end, they dimmed the lights, switched from their mellow instrumental background music to 50 Cents - In Da Club playing on high volume, gave my sister a sparkler, and served her another sushi course with a candle, and the entire team danced to the song for about 30 seconds. Best birthday recognition I've ever seen from a restaurant staff.

We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.
