Shiloh contacted me for Thanksgiving food give away. I signed up and my Mother did as well! It was so nice they brought my Mother food to the car for her. I waited in line the began on time . They got us in and out. At the end the most beautiful souls prayed for my daughter! I wanted to hug her but Covid 19 put a damper on that! She prayed so well my morning was I'm mad at the world! After prayer Im happy as a . I really appreciate Shiloh always. I'm not a member there and when my son had passed they sent me flowers not even my own church wow! The Pastor came out and greeted everyone. How wonderful is that? I mean that's so much love. A lady ask oh I like your mask do you have any more to the Pastor? He said I'm sure they do just ask when you exit. So of course I have a thing for mask. At the end I asked and she said I'm not sure where you would get them from. I said no worries thank you so much. As I was leaving I mean the pastor wife was even handing out food so awesome. As I was leaving the lady ran after me and I'm like oh did I drop the chicken again because they gave away a whole chicken awesome! She was running after me saying lady miss lady miss. So I turned around and said yes and she gave me not one mask not two masks but three so beautiful this church is so giving. And not just giving away food and flowers but they give so much love. Anytime I visit the church and they see it in my face they come they pray over me. They asked me if I'm OK they tell me which classes they offer that might help me. They give me phone numbers to be able to talk to someone they check on you. They're an awesome church with so much love. Why haven't I join bc my Mother had medical issues so where she goes I take her. I miss attending Shiloh! read more

Today on Easter, my teenage son and I went back to Shiloh for the first time in a loooooong time. I was pleasantly surprised. We will be back soon, probably regularly. We haven't been regular church-goers for a long time, for a number of reasons. Having been raised pentecostal and having seen a fair amount of corruption within churches, I have been mistrustful of churches. Also due to the pandemic, I haven't wanted to go to large gatherings. Additionally in past churches I have tried, I have been turned off by the judgmentalism, particularly towards the gay community. I'm not a part of the community but have extended family who are. I feel like at some churches, they scare people away with the judgmentalism when they should be welcoming EVERYONE. After all, we ALL are sinners. If you think someone isn't living right, shouldn't you encourage them to come to church rather than scare them away? I am happy to report that I didn't get this vibe at all with Shiloh. The pastor said, "You don't have to behave a certain way or even be a believer to come here. All are welcome." I appreciate this loving approach over fire and brimstone. You get more flies with honey than with vinegar. Shiloh also has lots of programs that help the community. We will definitely be returning. read more

I was ten years old when I first went to Shiloh, I gave my life to Christ during a service with Pastor Kiteley. I ended going to Christian School there and basically grew up in the Shiloh family. I searched high and low and all over the Bay for a church where I felt welcomed and the love of God and it was in my own back yard. My family and I have been to Shiloh a few times and we love it. Best of all, my kids love it- My son calls Pastor Patrick 'that crazy guy'- and he wants to keep going! It has been like pulling teeth getting my kids to go to church but they look forward to going to Shiloh. If my kids can learn to love Jesus I'm happy! This church reminds me of my childhood. I have gone to Shiloh Church several times as well as having attended a couple of events with special guest Pastors. Shiloh is a Bible believing, Bible teach, Bible preaching church that is tucked away but well attended on School Street in Oakland. Multi-racial, multi-ethnic congregation...beautiful. Great praise & worship, great preaching, great teaching. Nice children's church. Friendly greeters and church volunteers. Don't forget to take your Bible even if you don't know how to get around in the Bible, Pastor will guide you. read more

Went last Sunday. Not necessarily a fire and brimstone kinda place where the preacher sweatin' and preachin' and the lady passes out with her dress up and hat stays on but it suffices. I'm a PK, so I need that bible thrown at me--I like to get deep deep deep in the word and need some sho nuf preaching that can beat my Daddy and the southerners cuz we be having some "chuch" but, given the California cool way of living here, I'm adjusting. I'll be there tomorrow at 9 but will try other places out. This was a referral from a solid friend, but everybody thinks their church is the best even if it ain't but I ain't no gossip so you ain't heard that from me! As a preacher's kid I've served my time: every Sunday-Wednesday going to church from a pup up until I was 35, so this is my first foray back into the chapel. I won't be busting doors down every single Sunday, but I do like the mindfulness it brings and situates the balance I need for my quality of life. Oh! Great praise and worship team but the messages by the pastors and teachers are extremely low in substance and content. Feels more like you're going to a casual concert than to a house of god. Wasn't for me. I know some people that go here, and they are all people who are nice but are lacking in personality and substance, just like my overall impression of this church, so I guess if that's what you're into this is the right place. read more

This church is a true godsend to the community, as they do an excellent job in not only providing the good lords word to all of his followers, but by also reinstating people's faith that there are still good hearted people amongst us. Not only can you visit here for a house of worship, but you can also take full advantage of the many services and community events that they sponsor or produce throughout the year, such as the harvest family festival every October. When I was younger, I hate to admit it, but I used to get bored in church, but if I had attended a place as grand as this one; with auditorium style seating and surround sound projection monitors, I'd have fallen on every word uttered by the pastor. This church adapts to the times with it's many upgrades through and through, and they even offer classes and study groups geared towards younger children, so they too may follow along with faith in Christ. read more

You will grow in your maturity of faith and learn the importance of serving. The presence of God is in this place and the worship is powerful. This is a place where God gets all the glory and not "Man". The Children's/Youth Dept is amazing and fun...the Leaders/Pastors teach them various fundamentals of their walk and to help apply the Word in their everyday life. The Pastor is a true example of how someone shepherd's God people. You will always see him out and about socializing and meeting visitors and having engaging conversations because He has a spirit of compassion..as well as His wife and family. I know someone from this church is going to criticize me or accuse me of being on the "devils" side, but I would be cautious in doing so and not be so quick to dismiss what I have to say. There are some friendly people there who truly love the Lord which I truly loved. What surprised me was the lack of love coming from the head Pastor. He never said Hi or even welcomed me to the church, and for some reason, I felt negative vibes coming from him. I have been gifted with spiritual discernment and can literally feel when people are negative towards me. I have done nothing wrong and I love the Lord with all my heart, and it was saddening to see the Pastor exude such negativity. None of us are perfect and I hope that he will grow in love in this area as we all need growth and continue to be conformed to the image of Jesus. Also, during the 5 or 6 times I visited that church, the topic of sin was never brought up to try to help the congregation to grow in obedience and turn away from worldliness. Surprisingly, the Pastor said such things as "How many of you LOVE money?" and the congregation responded with "Yes and Amens!". This stunned me, and Jesus warned about the Lukewarmedness" of churches in the last day. The Pastor also said, "There's no church like Shiloh, we're the best!". Folks, this isn't a CONTEST, we are all part of the BODY OF CHRIST, and we should love and respect all other churches. I don't know how anyone can possibly say that their church is the best? Do they realize how many churches are out there? It seems very ARROGANT to make such assumption. Let us humble ourselves. Before people of this church dismiss what I have to say and me being the one who is negative. understand what I have to say and compare it with scripture. I pray for the Pastor and his congregation, may they grow in LOVE and Holiness. read more

I've been to this church once. I was pleased with the service and the message. I also love the diversity of the congregation. I was a little caught off guard at the end of the service when the pastor quickly dismissed. I guess I'm an old school girl and am accustomed to services closing with altar call and benediction. Come as you are here at Shiloh Church! Ladies...you don't have to wear your church suits with the big hats but if that's what you WANT to wear, bring it on! You can also just wear your jeans and flip-flops! We love to praise and worship the Lord at Shiloh so if you love to worship and dance like David did, you might just want to leave those hills at home. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty=freedom! and we don't take up a bunch of offerings either. Give what you can and if you have nothing...give us your smile! The Pastor/s are lead by the holy spirit. Some Sunday's we are laid out at the alter, some Sunday's we take off running around the church! and some Sunday's we are more...calm just being "still" and resting in his presence allowing his presence to saturate us. It's difficult to come only one time to get the full holy ghosts experience at Shiloh Church Oakland! Shiloh is a WORD church. The word we receive is so powerful! Sometimes I just have to say ouch!!! lol We offer various bible classes for all ages at the church and we fellowship outside of the church as well breaking bread and studying the Word. *see shilohchurch.com We also have a wonderful children's and teens ministry with awesome teen leader's! *see teen leadership track It's as good as it gets! I agree with all the other reviewers that Shiloh is an awesome church! I had fun @ church today, woohoo! Today's sermon was on "Why I...Have Joy." Pastor Kiteley passed out smiley faces to the crowd and smiley face stickers were given out. Ice cream cones were given out, too. Smiley balloons filled the platform as "Don't Worry, Be Happy" played while he came out. I love the creativity that was put into delivering the word. It was very accessible. I appreciate that as a visitor they did not have visitors stand, just wave your hand. I wasn't too sure where to put the visitor's card. Note to other visitors, an offering satchel is passed from person to person down the row, and you can put it in yourself. No walking around or passing anywhere. I passed mine down the row by mistake, just thought I would share that. But it was all good...everyone there was really nice. I had a place to park. I attended the 10 a.m. service and was home by 11:30. My only disappointment was that my smiley face sticker fell off somewhere in between church and home. read more
