I came here for lunch and with just water the price was 19.39 which is a fixed lunch price. I was welcome as soon as I walked in the door and seated right away. I was given my drink right away and my waitress was always available cleaning my table and checking in on me. They had plenty of sushi to offer and a small buffet bar and a hibachi grill. The food was good and not over seasoned and the atmosphere was old style nothing modern but clean and a clean bathroom as well. There are not many buffets left in Dade County area and I am very happy to have this place available. Parking was easy with many places to park. The noise level was perfect. One thing I like about this buffet is that everything is labeled, including the sushi and whether it's cooked or not cooked. They also have an area where they do like a hibachi for you (you pick your protein-chicken, meat, shrimp) and can add veggies. The women who took care of us was constantly on top of everything like taking away our used plates and refilling our drinks constantly. Now this place is purely a self serve buffet. Because it's All You Can Eat it's not top quality, but for the price you pay, it was very good. We tried the sushi, the fried apps, the Hibachi grill and dessert. I must say the quality of the meat at the Hibachi grill was much better than I expected. For dessert I had Ice cream, fruit, jello and chocolate pudding. They also had pastries which I only tried the chocolate one. As far as cleanliness it was very clean and plenty of seating. Place was very busy which is usually a good sign. Small business in old plaza, definitely limited on stuff but honestly it's quality over quantity. I always look for major things when I walk into buffet and that's always the seafood section, if I see the muscles/ clams or sushi watered down and slimy, I know it's terrible. But this place to my surprise, it's actually pretty solid and the green tea ice cream was actually really really good, most places green tea are so bad it has frostbites. If you pay close attention you'll see that they actually clean the place, no piss stain carpets and not even dust on the ceiling fans. While some choices are very good, there are others that are mediocre. After the server takes your order, you can proceed to the various options. If you are a fan of sushi, you will enjoy the huge selection of items on the sushi bar. (I have two family members who go there specifically for the sushi). Other options are the hot buffet with various items. On my most recent visit among the items were orange chicken, tempura shrimp, mussels, pepper steak, fried rice, broccoli, garlic green beans, spring rolls, various tempura fried vegetables as well as other items. My favorite area is the hibachi grill where you can select shrimp, beef, chicken (or any combination of the 3) and veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, onions) which are cooked on the grill while you wait. On another island they have peel and eat shrimp, various fresh fruit and kid favorites like jello, ice cream and a selection of petite size desserts. Located close to our house we found Shinju Japanese buffet which has been on the corner of Sunset drive and 87 Ave for over twenty years. I have been curious to give this place a try since it been opened for so many years especially for a buffet restaurant. So this past Friday my wife and I went for some dinner and just like many Japanese buffets the areas are broken down by sushi area, hot Asian Food, dessert station and an hamachi area with a chef. Once we were seated, we made the excursion to the areas, I started with the sushi which I found the selections a little minimal compared to other buffets. The sushi itself was fresh but not the best quality. The warm Asian food section looked stale and that it was sitting out way too long. The hamachi section left little to desire the beef had a weird color and chicken looked bland, we took our chance with the shrimp cooked with onions which made it the tastiest item we ate that night. The staff were nice but were not constantly checked on and the turnover of our plates was way too slow. The pricing here is not bad but you pay for the lackluster quality. read more

Shinju is my favorite lunch spot around town. The $13 lunch buffet just hits the spot for me. I first go to the back and get myself an "everything" hibachi. That's chicken, steak, and shrimp with onion, zucchini, mushrooms and bean sprouts. This is my favorite part of it all. It's nice and soy-saucy and you can even get it spicey. On my way back to the table I grab some crab wantons and I'm ready for meal #1. Then when I'm done with that plate, I go back for sushi and finish off with some little cakes for dessert.
