Last couple times I've gone the plain glaze donuts are wet. The glaze is not a solid product but is very liquidy and dripping wet. The chocolate iced were not suffering the same issue but the dripping wet plain glaze was unappealing to say the least. Did quality control or management change? read more

Shipley donuts in Hurst is awesome! Great variety products to choose from. Clean establishment, including the restrooms. Everything I have ordered over my past few visits has been fresh and tasted delicious. Service is great and staff helps one another so while one is ringing up your order there is someone else is packing it up. In a hurry they will get you taken care of quickly. The only reason why I'm giving this a two star is because DoorDash picked it up and they were able to give me a refund on this horrible box of donuts. Sadly, I even left a message for a manager to call me back three days ago and no one even bothered to do so. Not only did I get a box of what seemed like old donuts two apple fritters were actually burnt. I've never actually seen burnt donuts and apple fritters. Literally didn't even seem like apples. Weird! But that's got to be very lazy. I usually go to Dunkin' Donuts, but they were out of some of the ones that I liked and Shipleys was showing that they had them so I figured I'd give them a shot. Terrible donuts, terrible service and a manager not calling me back is a perfect example of that. I've tried to reach the 855 number for customer service and no one is answering or helping there either. Not surprised. I will never use them again. Even though DoorDash gave me a refund. I at least wanted to let that store know that the donuts were so bad and that the donuts and fritters were burnt. No one seems to care. So I won't be giving them my business ever again. So I hate downgrading my rating, I've finally gotten tired of something that has happened over the years of coming to this particular shipley do nuts. Staff is really friendly, and they are one of the few donut places I know I can get the red icing with sprinkles that my kids love. Plus they have a drive thru which on those mornings that we are working and schooling remote, or on holiday breaks that you want to run thru the drive thru in your pj pants and a hoodie is a god send. Though every, single, time I go thru the drive thru I get the wrong thing ... and it's always the same donut they mess up on. I always order a chocolate cake ... a donut that the breading itself is chocolate. Not just a regular donut with chocolate icing. Every time that I order that in the drive thru they give me chocolate iced ... no matter how I explain it ... I always have to circle back and get it fixed or go in. I never have that issue when going in because I can sit there and point to it and say "that one" and they get it . Which at that point voids out the awesomeness of having a drive thru so taking away the drive thru I would rather support a non-chain donut shop. At this point the almost guaranteed red icing with sprinkles one is the only thing that keeps me coming back but when we do find a more locally owned one that keeps those in stock we will go there instead. read more

I've heard nothing but great things about Shipley's so I went there today. I am not sure why everyone rants and raves about this place- it was not worse than a mom and pop place. The donut holes only come in a dozen and they are kept on top of a warmer, meaning they are left out and not warmed up. They did not offer to warm anything either. The kolaches are a good size but the outside is not very soft and they were not very warm at all and not a lot of flavor. They also did not have any blueberry, only cake blueberry. The only saving grace was the Apple fritter, it had real pieces of apple and was delicious! Too much sugary frosting but good! I will not make a special trip to go here again- I would much rather go to a small mom and pop place and have my donuts hot/warmed up for me. read more

She was impatient and made me feel rushed even though I was the only one in the place. Maybe the employees aren't the most enthusiastic but who cares, I always get my order correct and they are as nice as they need to be! I have been to Shipleys a few times but have chosen to wait until now to write a review. A couple weeks ago I got donuts for the first time while picking some up for coworkers. I have another place I normally go to, but decided to check out a chain and see how the donuts compared. The sausage rolls are just alright, but the actual donuts themselves are amazing, especially the glaze. They are so warm when they are fresh and gooey that they practically melt in your mouth. I love the subtle crunch in your mouth when you first bite into one of their donuts. Also, the price is pretty comparable with other donut shops in the area. the people at the window are always friendly and tend to make good eye contact, and they give you your items very quickly. This past weekend however, I had a negative experience. I bought about $70 worth of donuts for a bunch of kids who slept over at our house after a birthday party. Most of the donuts were fine, but what disappointed me is that I asked specifically for a dozen of fun doughnuts, mainly with sprinkles. What I got the box from the window which was already taped down, I specifically asked if they were all fun and colorful and that none of them were plain glazed and I was assured that they were exactly what I wanted. When I got home, unfortunately 1/4 of them was just plain glazed chocolate, half of them were plain glazed other flavors, and only three of them had sprinkles on them at all. This may not seem like a big deal and I guess it really wasn't, but it was a problem because now I had a bunch of boys back at the house who were going to fight to the death over the three sprinkled donuts! I called Shipleys to let them know what had happened. I didn't expect anything to come of it, but I thought since they were still a fairly new establishment they needed to know this had occurred. The manager apologized usefully and offered me two dozen donuts the next time I came in. Often when something like that happens I never actually take the company up on their offer but this time I decided to see what would happen if I went back and tried to cash in on their offer. I showed up this morning and sure enough, Misti provided me exactly what she had promised with a smile. This is why even though a mistake was made, I still give this place five stars. Good, honest customer service is not something that happens too often anymore. Shipleys will be getting my business quite often in the future, especially since I work at Birdville high school and it is so close. To be honest, if you want really good soft sausage rolls I would try a smaller shop, or maybe I should just come on a different day and try them again. However, the donuts themselves are wonderful as is the service you will receive in this establishment. read more

I am all about making sure you get your work done but to intimidate your employee is wrong. To much favoritism goes on with the daughter. I work for family and we don't do favortism. We have bought donuts for our Senior Citizens at Villas on Bear Creek for our past 2 community coffee events. The residents have been thrilled with the assorted donuts. Very fresh and not too sweet! We pulled up asking for chocolate filled donuts & he says they're out in a low mumble. Then, we ask what our options are and he's like, "uhhhhh what do you want?" through his low mumble again. After pulling an all nighter, and a very bad morning, my friend and I went to get some glazed blueberry donuts. Not only were the donuts great, but the service was even better! The young lady who worked the drive through window, not only greeted us with a smile, but she was extremely nice and sincere. I tried to pay with card, however their card machine was having problems. She explained the issue, so I offered to pay cash instead. She was very appreciative. I can honestly say, service as great as this is hard to find nowadays. She instantly brightened mine and my friends day. I later proceeded to call a manager to compliment the service we received. The manager was extremely appreciative of the compliment. The wide selections are amazing! The kolochies are so yummy! But my concerns lie with their methods... A few times now I have gone through drive through and upon receiving my order it was either the wrong item or not enough of the item. I had to go inside to correct this. My receipt was correct so I believed it was a miss communication for the "runner". The register girl was polite and the older women retrieving looked like she might need glasses looking at the regisiter. There has also been a few times I ordered an ice coffee and my receipt said "mocca" . On the menu I believed it says it is 2.50$ but that's not what came out. Not too happy about that. The staff seem quite nice and well trained. The older man and women also seem like they are good as well. But the older women did seem like she was rushing me one of the times I went inside. I truly do love Shipley's its a great place for donuts! This one does tend to stay open quite late though. 6pm if I remember right. Over all I have to give it 3 stars. I came in around 5:00pm with a coupon I was mailed for 2 free glazed donuts (no purchase necessary). The lady at the front was very nice and friendly when I came in. I showed her the coupon and she went back and grabbed an extra free chocolate donut along with the the 2 glazed. When I went to hand her the coupon she said it's okay that's it's expired but she was happy to honor it anyways, I pointed out that it actually wasn't expired it still had a few more months left. The donuts were very very yummy! I give this shipleys 5 stars for the friendly service and for the fact that was going to honor the coupon even when she thought it was expired :). Thanks! I had been a customer of Shipley's for almost 30 years and was very happy to see new locations popping up closer to me. I have been many times without any problem but when I tried to contact management for a issue I had with not getting my correct change back and the service I had to endure. I was not even offered a apology or a resolution to my problem. So If you like employees being rude to you while they steal your money and serve you food that is uneatable, step right up this is the place for you. I hope someone will realize the issues this store is having and fix it because Shipley's was once the best. read more
