How I wish I had checked Yelp before using Shiva.com. Ordered a platter to be delivered to my grieving friend on the day of the post-funeral luncheon. It was never delivered. When I contacted Shiva, they claimed it was delivered, left "on the porch," but no one was home. My friend's home does not have a porch. At the time it was supposedly delivered, there were people coming and going because the luncheon was taking place. My friend insists it wasn't delivered. Instead, of making it right, Shiva is keeping my $100+ so that I can't even use it to make a monetary gift to my friend's father's favorite charity. If it matters to you, if it matters that it gets there, don't use Shiva.com. read more

I stupidly planted 2 trees through Shiva.com (says it goes thru JNF) on 11/5. Today is 12/3 and no certificates received at all. Multiple calls with no certificates. I've used this company 1 time before. They screwed up a fruit platter and had to reimburse me. Do not use this company. Shiva.com was a new website for me and I have to say it was GREAT! The Shiva was in New Jersey and I am in Florida having no idea who or where to call in the grieving family's neighborhood. I wanted the order delivered on a Sunday and many of the potential delis I located on the internet were either closed on Sunday or only did pick-up. Shiva.com came to the rescue. I was very apprehensive especially after seeing and reading a number of the terrible and ugly reviews. I even called the service number to ask why does the company have such either bad reviews or excellent reviews and nothing in between. The individual I spoke with was very reassuring and expressed concern about the bad reviews, but in the end I felt comfortable to place the order for the beautiful dessert platter. My apprehension continued until the delivery was made. The family received the platter exactly during the time requested, and they sent me a text stating how fabulous the dessert platter was AND that it happened to come from a deli they knew and loved going to in their area. I am sorry they did not send a picture to share. I will keep Shiva.com in my back pocket for a reliable place to order around the country. read more

I placed my order on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Paid about $19 for two day shipping. On the following Monday, I received notice that the order was being shipped out that day. I was very discouraged to learn that it would take so long. On the same Wednesday, my mother ordered a kosher Shiva package from amazon.com. It was more product for less money and she got free delivery through prime. But, even more important, it was there by Friday. Wish I could leave a zero ratings. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. They charge for USPS priority shipping, 1-3 business days and package took 7 days. THEN, they leave it outside. I wish there was an option for no stars. I placed my order on a Saturday with "hand delivery" for Sunday. I called Sunday morning and left a message to confirm it would be delivered since Shiva was only one day. I got a call back saying it would absolutely be delivered that day. Hours later I got email confirmation that it had been "hand delivered" with a time of delivery. Two days later I contacted the recipient and they said they got nothing. I am humiliated that nothing was delivered and if I had known it wasn't a guarantee I would have done Uber Eats or something else but I'm truly devastated and embarrassed and wish I had seen reviews first. Like many others, I wish there were a way to leave zero stars. I ordered a candy and nut platter and paid $24.95 for overnight shipping. I ordered on Saturday early afternoon and shiva was on Sunday. My order arrived on Tuesday. I asked for a refund on shipping at the very least and was told that this type of platter could not be shipped until Monday for freshness reasons but still allowed me to choose overnight shipping. When I expressed my disappointment that the family would not have it in time for guests, their response was simply families enjoy a delivery even after shiva. The shipping issue that David encountered is still a problem at shiva.com. My mother and I both placed orders with shiva.com on Friday, and paid for two day shipping. The order was not sent out until Monday and the shiva was on Wednesday night. But the kicker is that my mother's order arrived in time for the shiva, on Wednesday, because she ordered fresh fruit which came from a local provider. Mine did NOT arrive in time, because I ordered dried fruit, which came from a different provider. I wish I would have seen these reviews before placing my order. This company does NOT honor what they say- especially their 100% guarantee. My order was supposed to arrive on a Monday. I received an email that said it was delivered, but when checking with the family, it was not. When the family received my order (a week later) it looked like it was thrown together by a 5 year old, with a hand-written condolence note on a piece of scratch paper. Shiva.com was not worth the cost. We (siblings and I) spent 1,000.00 there and received an inadequate amount of food for the money. Literally, we received a limited assortment of roasted vegetables, some cut vegetables with dip, a small cookie platter, some sort of rolls that were supposed to be bagels (but were not bagels), and one combined tray of lox, salads, and cream cheese. However, the website itself is so easy to browse and once you make your selection, your have the best support staff I have ever encountered. Unfortunately there was a death in my family and I saw on Shiva.com that you could get a garden of 100 trees in Israel. I called quite a few times and talked to the Mark who is the contact for the website and I can't say enough about how helpful he was in answering all my questions, before I made the purchase and after I made the purchase. I rarely leave negative reviews but I choose Shiva.com because they offered a 2-day shipping option (for quite an upcharge - $36). Like most memorial events, if a product doesn't arrive in time for the in-this-case 1 day event, there is no point in ordering it at all. I placed my order on Thursday night after the ordering deadline for Thursday but at the front of the line for Friday orders. My gift left the facility Friday morning and did not arrive until Tuesday. Nowhere on the Shiva website does it say that UPS does not deliver on weekends and UPS does in fact deliver on weekends (in sure for an upcharge which I paid). When I called I was told that I should have known that weekends dont count. She read to me a statement about weekend delivery exclusions and I asked if she was reading from their website and she said no, it was the UPS website. So how would I know that? Their website in multiple locations does say that delivery excludes holidays. I wasn't even offered an apology, nevermind a refund of the 2-day shipping fee. For a company, again, that specializes in gifts for memorial events that often are not anticipated I was deeply disappointed in their services and would never use them again. read more

My brother in law sadly passed away and I could not get to the funeral. I wanted to send a shiva tray to my sister-in-law and nieces. They are Orthodox and follow strict dietary kosher guidelines. So where else to go but "shiva.com" which promised they can find and send deli trays to the bereaved. First off I was 4 minutes late in getting my order in...missed the cut off for the day...so it was to be sent the next day...never got confirmation of delivery. Sister in law asked if I had sent the tray as they were waiting for dinner...turns out they left the food at her front door in the sweltering CA sun while she was not home making funeral arrangements. Finally she sent someone over to see if they had left a note and found the food on her front porch....AND wait for it.....it had HAM....was not kosher at all!!! I was embarrassed and mortified. This looked like I did not care enough to order appropriately for her and her family. Seems I was told I should have specified in the "special instructions" box that I wanted kosher food...now call me silly but I figured something called "shiva" would send only appropriate food for jewish people who generally NEVER eat ham!!!! This is a middle man agency that just searches the country for vendors...they really do not oversee the delivery and the purchasing customer can not follow up directly with the vendor. I could of ordered a deli tray for 1/3 the cost myself if I wanted non kosher food. They refunded me after I demanded to be recompensed but I would not bother with this company. I am embarrassed by the dessert tray that shiva.com sent to my loved ones. For $100.00,they sent a tray of plain sugar cookies (approximately (18) on a plastic deli tray from Manny's. I could not believe it when I saw the product. Costco could have done better. They are not to be trusted. They are a poor version of FTD. When I said something to the rep, after an email and two calls, he said that they are like FTD and the photos are just examples of what they might have in different markets. I spent $65 to have a vegetable platter sent to a friend's house after her husband passed. I asked that it be delivered before 1pm. When I called at 1pm, the gentleman on the phone said it was out for delivery. While I was visiting, her son showed me a receipt for the vegetable platter. It did not have my name on it, but rather the name of some man from Florida. Also, no card was included, even though I had written a message for a card to be included. The family had no idea who it was from. It was very embarrassing. I called the company when I got home, and the same gentleman told me the platter was delivered at 11:30am, even though he'd told me at 1pm that it was out for delivery???? To make up for the confusion, wrong name on delivery receipt and no card, he offered to plant a tree in Israel and send a certificate to the family. Too little, too late.
