    Lamb biryani

This is a lovely Indian restaurant with excellent flavors in downtown Dallas! These service was very good and our Waters were filled regularly. It took a while for the food to come out but when it did, it was very good! I especially enjoyed the lamb biryani, the meat was very tender, and perfectly seasoned with the rice. The lamb shank was okay, not my favorite. Although the chicken 65 was prepared differently, it was very tasty and a nice appetizer. We had a nice space in the back of the restaurant to spread out and enjoy with family and kids.

Tikka Masala. I was thrown off by yellow rice. First time seeing that at an Indian restaurant

Service was good. Feels like an Indian restaurant. Food was ok. My wife felt like short cuts were taking on Samosas (felt they might have use some mashed potatoes mix with some potatoes. Her and my daughter said their food was mid. I had Tikka Masala, daughter had Aloo Gobi and daughter Bhindi Masala.

No buffet but all the food is super yummy and the service is top notch! Raj made sure everything was perfect and that spice levels were just what we wanted. The naan bread basket for $12 had like 10 pieces of onion, garlic, spinach and plain naan! The butter chicken was excellent, standout for me was getting to try Mulligatawny soup (lentil and chicken soup with maybe some lemon in it?) that was new flavors for me but soooooo yummy And a little taste of their rice pudding at the end. Mmmm

Chicken Tikka Masala with plain naan 10/10

The food is so good! Quick service Very authentic I've been eating this my whole pregnancy lol

Came to pass some time at the bar, will have to come back and try the food because the aromatics were through the roof! Bar tender made our drinks with LOVE! So perfectly executed and over all good vibes.

The food here is always great and the service is always awesome. I have been here several times for dinner and it's always a winner for me and my family great food great service and great ambience. The desserts are not my favorite nor are the cocktails but if you want some great authentic Indian food this is a great spot.

Very very rare dishes. So glad we decided to stop by. I had to come back the next day for more. The nilgiri was everything I've been missing. I thought when I discovered chat with all the various sauces and chickpeas I was on to something. No, you have to try more. The more I try, the more I understand why people fought over these spices. Sheeeesh. My tandoori was all the way legit compared to a lot of, just red on the outside, I've had so much of. Rarely do I have tandoori this well made. I honestly started to give up on eating tandoori all together. Well these guys brought it back to life for me. Every dish I tried was spot on. Even their levels of spice was absolute appropriate with such full flavored spices. My service was great. Not the best service I've ever had but it was very good. I never felt neglected. One thing that I also appreciated was how unique all of their flavors were. So rich and sweet or almost too sweet on occasions. My raita and chutney were all great. Very well made and great quality. Even their naan was high quality. Made with care. We ordered the paneer stuffed naan. It had a perfect amount of paneer that was evenly spread through the filling. Maybe it could have had more paneer but I did not feel like it wasn't enough. I will note, a lot of places make great food, but these guys do it on every dish in a way that makes you feel like they eat their own food. Every dish we had was made with love and care. The presentation was not over the top. Kind of like driving a properly tuned and enhanced bmw. Now for the interior, I enjoyed it. The theme matches its name. I felt like I was in a very nice Indian bar. Not the most luxury, just very nice. Parking in the area was a bit slim, but we actually didn't not have an issue. We parked within a block of the restaurant. So much to do in the area I really enjoyed myself.

Out on family trip to Dallas and all of us were hungry for some legit Indian meal and Shiva was a great surprise! We ordered mango lassi and virgin mojito for drinks and they are really good. On food we had bread basket, peshawari naan, shahi panneer, dal makhni and malai kofta. The trad Indian food above was amazing in every way, Malai kofta stood out but dal makhni and shahi paneer were good as well. All the breads were great, well cooked fresh. Peshawari naan stood out. Will highly recommend this place, has a decent bar and great ambience and the service doesn't disappoint either!

If you work in downtown Dallas, or are visiting the Perot Museum or Dallas Aquarium, make time to stop in a Shiva's Bar & Grill for a wide array of Indian dishes, each one as flavorful as the last. Thanks to owner; Praveen, for being such a great host and allowing me to sample so many wonderful dishes! I started with Vegetable Samosa and Onion Pakora. The samosa was good, as I expected, but this was my first time having Onion Pakora (onions fried in chickpea flour) and they were delicious! Next was Yellow Lentil Soup, which was a very nice consistency and a little more flavorful than the typical lentil soup. Being my first time, I had to try a few main dishes to really get a sense of what Shiva has to offer. The Meat Classic includes Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Saag and Shrimp Vindaloo. I also tried the Butter Chicken and Chicken Biryani. (If you want to sample a variety of dishes, The Royal Dinner for Two includes your choice of the Meat Classic or the Vegetable Classic with the Onion Pakora, Yellow Lentil Soup, Garlic Naan, Raita and Dessert - a great selection of items!) Again, no item disappointed, but what stood out to me was the Chicken Saag (I've had Saag Paneer before, but never with Chicken), It's sort of an Indian version of Creamed Spinach and I really enjoyed it. The Butter Chicken was packed with flavor, and the Chicken Biryani was a large portion and included all the great flavors and aromatics of a good Biryani dish. I was also treated to some Mussels in a clay pot, which I didn't see on the menu, but really enjoyed. Finally, I tried the Gulab Jamun and Rice Kheer. The Gulab Jamun were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Rice Kheer I really enjoyed. Slightly sweet, and a good consistency. It was the best Rice Pudding, of any kind, I've ever tried. Shiva's also has a full bar, so you can enjoy your favorite drink along with your meal. There's a small parking lot beside the restaurant, and more parking just down the street, towards the Aquarium. I know I'll be back, and I would highly recommend you try Shiva's the next time your downtown.

Dined here for the first time and had a great meal! We ordered the chili paneer, paneer korma, aloo gobi, garlic naan and chapatti. There was no wait, the waitstaff was all so friendly and there was live entertainment for the evening. This place gets a five star from me because the owner came over and spoke to us after we mentioned to the waitstaff that we didn't prefer the aloo gobi dish since it was a bit too saucey and had too much cinnamon. He acknowledged that it was a bit different than the traditional dry aloo gobi and offered to make us the traditional aloo gobi himself, which we didn't trouble him to do. He comped the dish and also sent us some rice pudding after the meal. This kind of customer service can't be overlooked, and we appreciated his kindness! We look forward to dining here again.

Truly disappointed!…read more My experience at this restaurant was uncomfortable and disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the visit felt very different from what I would expect at a welcoming restaurant. We were greeted politely at first, but shortly after, two non-Indian customers walked in, and the waitress immediately went over to welcome them and bring them water. We had not been offered water at that point. When she eventually came to our table, she asked if we were ready to order but did not seem fully present or attentive while we were speaking. We then had to ask if we could also get water. When it was brought out, one of the glasses was broken. Later, when we pointed it out and asked for another glass of water, there was no apology or real acknowledgment, which was very disappointing. We had to keep asking for water unlike other non Indian tables. The food itself was mediocre, but the service was what made the experience unacceptable. It felt like we were treated differently compared to other guests, and that is not something I expected or appreciated. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting again.

Pulled up to Namak Indian Restaurant ready to step outside my comfort zone and try something…read morenew--and let's just say... it turned into an experience. It was pretty obvious I was a first-time diner, and I was hoping for a little guidance through the menu--but that part was kind of missing. My friend had been raving about the butter chicken, so she ordered it... and so did my other friend--who, at one point, completely stopped talking because his head was on fire. Taste buds? Gone. Brain cells? DEEP FRIED!!!!So yeah... if you can't handle spice like me, consider that your warning .They both ordered mango lassis, garlic naan, and jeera pulao. This is an important part of the story but let's proceed with caution. I played it smart and ordered the tandoori salmon. The waiter hit me with, "What about your entrée?"--sir... this *is* the plan. Then came the subtle appetizer judgment, so I asked how big it was. Based on the hand gesture? I was expecting something light/ 4 ounces or less( another fact to be revealed lately. Tell me why this "appetizer" came out as a full-on 8-10 oz salmon, covered in this *delicious* mystery sauce with red onions, carrots, and a lemon wedge. A whole situation--and honestly, the flavor was perfect. The jeera pulao on the side though... let's just say it showed up but didn't say much. Now here's where it got... confusing. Since the sauce wasn't listed, I asked an employee passing by what it was--he told me he just clears tables. Next thing I know, the floor manager comes over asking if everything's okay. I'm like, "Everything's great--what is this sauce?" He looks completely puzzled. I point directly at the salmon like... *this sauce*. The confusion was real. Then he says, "Chef made the sauce." Sir... I would hope so Since the busser didn't know. At that point, the chef comes over asking if there's a problem. I assure him there's no issue--I just wanted to know about the sauce (turns out, dill was the main note), which, to be fair, was actually really good. The chef was kind, professional, and easily the highlight of the visit. But know I'm thinking it's the sauce they used if you don't order an entree .. Meanwhile, my friends are still recovering from what I'll call the butter chicken explosion--extremely spicy to the point it wasn't enjoyable, and somehow still lacking flavor. Disappointing for one of their most talked-about dishes. Their drinks were served and although the glassware was nice the drink itself was.......?? SWEEEET ,but not for me , We wrap up, decline dessert, and ask for a to-go box. Then... we wait. And wait. And wait. It's not even busy. No check, no follow-up--just vibes. After a solid 15 minutes, we're this close to leaving cash on the table. Finally, the server comes back. We ask for separate checks--he says he can't do it on the handheld device. Yeah... that's simply not true. Modern POS systems (especially handhelds) are built to split checks, assign seats, and handle exactly that. Whether it was lack of training or effort... not sure. Or just a lazy server who gives the service industry a bad name , excuse me if this is job then DO BETTER ! But we ended up split it three ways. Just to end the dreadful experience ! Bonus moment: he asked my friends to leave review while running their cards--but he didn't asked me / since I didn't order an entree and I tipped 20%.So my 22.00 appetizer  end up being 43, with tip . Shame on you agian. All in all: great salmon, chaotic communication, spicy struggles, and a memorable night for all the wrong and right reasons

The spot is more pick-up or DoorDash versus a traditional sit-in restaurant so the interior seating is spare (4-5 four tops). Greeted by the owner Fatima who asked questions regarding spice levels and offered recommendations as we ordered at the counter. The Mango Lassi was bursting with mango flavor and almost as thick as a milkshake, super refreshing. Samosas were fist-sized and very flavorful, served with catsup, a combo that was surprisingly delicious. The Chicken 65 appetizer was the right level of spicy for a comfortable burn and the chicken was perfectly cooked. My friend's healthy portion of Butter Chicken was extremely tasty with an equally large side of white rice, again perfectly cooked. The chicken biryani can be served bone-in or boneless (my choice) and was everything a diner would want from a biryani. The rice was perfectly cooked, the seasonings ratios were balanced, and the chicken was succulent. The portion was so large I was able to make 3 additional meals from the leftovers. The garlic naan is epic - it's the size of a 12" pizza and served on a pizza pan. Thin and crispy on the edges, more doughy in the center with a load of garlic and cheese on top. Do not skip the garlic naan. Really. We visited with owner Fatima during our meal and it is obvious her food is prepared with much love. The only issue with visiting the spot is that there are only 4 parking spaces which could be a challenge during peak dining hours. Loved that our meal was served in to-go containers with paper plates and plastic cutlery so all we had to do was retrieve lids and a bag to take home our leftovers. Highly recommend trying their food, perhaps ordering through DoorDash would be best due to the parking issue.
