Notice the food at the back edge of the grill. Who knows how long it's been there.

The service was great. The place was very dark inside. We had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu. There was also food left on the back side of the grill from a previous hibachi meal. . We had veggie hibachi and it was good but not great. We don't expect the big show when we order veggie hibachi because there isn't the shrimp toss or anything else. The hibachi chef was polite but not friendly. I watched the chef clean the grill at the end of cooking and he added a piece of broccoli to the previous spooge left in the back of the grill. This was my wife's first time having hibachi. I was hoping for a better experience for her. We won't be returning to this place. There was a young woman bussing the table and she was great. The cost was a bit high for a veggie meal but I understand that this is not their mainstream type of meal. The online price for veggie hibachi was $9.95. When we got there it was $16.99. My fault, I should have called and asked. There are too many websites that are not up to date. They need to do a good cleaning and add a bit more light.

Great food and very friendly staff! This is the first time I have been to this location and will not be the last. If you are looking for a good dinner tonight check these guys out. Look how clean they are in the restaurant.

Y'ALL! This is the place to go for hibachi in Venice. The service was phenomenal, the food was even more amazing, and it's so clean inside (that's a biggie for me). My friend and I decided to head to Shogun for my 40th birthday dinner because we both love hibachi. I ordered the lobster and he had the steak/chicken. When I say that he wiped his plate clean, I mean he left zero crumbs. Lol. I was wishing my stomach was larger because my plate was so delicious. Cannot recommend enough.

Yummy food. Nice employees. Restaurant website not updated on prices. Could use some ambiance upgrades.

We visited at 4pm after making reservations on a Thursday evening. Early bird specials are available from 4-6pm, making each main meat option approximately $16-20. We were the only guests in our corner of the restaurant, which made us feel more at ease as we had our masks off while eating. Our table easily sat our party of 7 adults and 2 kids. The server who took our order and brought our drinks was funny, making jokes about how the youngest person in our party was going to foot the bill. His sense of humor was a great touch to the kind service he provided. Our meal started with a perfect onion broth in a cup, with a mushroom slice and fresh green onions in it. It was so good! My toddler loved it. Then we were each served a salad of iceberg lettuce and carrots with a sweet dressing. Our chef was kind and more lively than the server. His initial entertainment was making a sort of drum beat with his knives as he flipped a few in the air. Then he briefly lit the whole grill on fire. Our poor toddler was quite terrified and closed his eyes for the rest of the show, wanting it to be done. I think that caused our chef to play it safe for the rest of the show. He didn't engage in too much talking, and other guests in our party said that their chef on a previous visit did more entertainment, like throwing shrimp tails into his hat. I appreciate that the chef took our toddler's feelings into consideration. All this to say, if your kids need some prep before eating here, let them know that the first thing will be a giant blaze right before their eyes. The chef cracked and fried eggs (after throwing an egg into his hat) and added them to rice. He also cooked zucchini, onions, and mushrooms, cutting them skillfully with the sharpest knives I've ever seen. You couldn't hear the knives sliding on the grill either, which was amazing. They slid through veggies and meat like soft butter. We ordered sirloin steak and chicken and shrimp. The chef easily remembered how everyone preferred their steak to be cooked (from medium-rare to well-done in our party), and as each steak reached that perfect point, he chopped it up and served it. Both the chicken and shrimp got covered in a delicious sauce that made them so flavorful. Each person also got a little dish of two sauces that formed a yin-yang shape; one sauce was tangy and the other was creamy. It offered an additional taste sensation to accompany the meat and veggies, but honestly the food was so well-seasoned that it didn't need it. We were there to celebrate two of our guests' birthdays, and the employees wished them happy birthday many times. I wish they had offered a complimentary birthday treat or sang happy birthday, to contribute to the celebration. As for Covid precautions, the employees wore masks when they served us. I did see employees walking around other parts of the empty restaurant without masks on though. This was a fun experience, the sauces really highlighted each of the foods, and I'd come back again for the early bird pricing.

I popped in there with my 10 year old daughter today for a late lunch. The place was completely empty and appears to be mainly a take out place now although there are several booths. I told the young lady behind the counter that we were eating in so she brought us a menu as we sat down. I walked up to the counter to place our order of miso soup, California roll, and hibachi style steak udon. The soup & roll came out almost instantly served in take out containers complete with lids on and flimsy plastic cutlery. It seems to me that if there are multiple booths for eat in customers there should be regular serving dishes and utensils available for those diners. The miso soup had a strange flavor like it had absorbed the smell of a refrigerator IYKYK. The rice on the California roll was dry and crunchy on top as if it had been rolled hours earlier and left uncovered in a fridge to dry out. After a few minutes my udon appeared also in a covered take out container with a cheap flimsy plastic fork. I ordered it "habach" style so I expected that lovely browness you get from sautéing on a very hot flat top. There was none of that. The "steak" was gray and impossible to chew, most likely some cheap cut of roast that if treated properly might have passed for steak but as prepared was just cubes of grey tough flavorless muscle. The vegetables of carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and zucchini were cooked to mush with not a hint of seared flavor. The noodles were gummy and pasty and whatever small amount of sauce was at the bottom and watery and bland, didn't cling to the ingredients at all. I added a ton of soy sauce to try to enhance what little flavor there was but even that didn't do much. When the cashier approached to ask how everything was I, very nicely I promise, explained some of the issues. All she was interested in was telling me that everything was fresh not reused from yesterday and that I was wrong about my assessment. She offered no refund or remake although a remake wouldn't have been accepted anyways. I ate a few bites of the noodles because I was starving but we threw everything else out. We will not be back and I cannot recommend.

Fairly open at 5:30 pm on a Sunday....... PACKED and folks waiting by 6 PM!!!!! Clean (brand new restaurant) and plenty of parking, however we walked over from d/t Wellen Park. Not packed, but we still had to wait for server. We did have to flag her down multiple times and ESPEICALLY as the rest of her tables filled up. I got a tofu ginger soup that was awesome. I coudl (well actually now I can't) rattle off all the rolls and items we got. I got vegan/veggie vegetable aspargus and avacado and etc rolls............ each and every one was prepared perfectly, and presented fantastically and had fresh and delectable ingredients. I have had a bit of sashimiand sushi in my 45 plus years of international and domestic travel and living in NYC/LI. As well I worked for a Japanese company for 10 years......... this was VERY well done and my top spot in the Sarasota to North Port corridor and thankfully 6 miles from my home..... my wife works a mile away!!!!!! As a restaurant amongst over 150 I have tagged they are also top ranking with me. Sadly I will never be able to get in there as they are already busting at the seams and when YOU read this you are going to make it worse (smile) That is okay, ENJOY and Bon Appétit ..... or meshiagare.
