After passing by this newly open BBQ place multiple times and seeing some of my friends posting with nice photos, I have decided to take my friends there to celebrate a friend's birthday. In a nutshell, this establishment is an all-you-can-eat style Japanese barbecue restaurant in Brooklyn (each table comes with a powerful retractable hood so you all do not need to worry about picking up barbecue smell on your clothing as you leave the place). Although this restaurant is currently at the soft opening stage, however, it offers a great variety of food (meats, seafood, and vegetables, plus sushi too). We picked that place because of all-you-can-eat barbecue meats, which was a no brainer. You can clearly tell all food items on the menu are freshly cut or prepared without cutting corners, unlike other all-you-can-eat places where you get the lower quality cuts and ingredients. Our server Mei was phenomenal. She literally went over the entire menu and patiently explained what would be considered the best food items for us. We were very impressed with her great level of attentiveness and hospitality since she made sure that my two Russian friends were having a pleasant dining experience. The interior design of the restaurant is beautiful, with comfortable seatings. Thus, you will not find yourself sitting right next to another table crowd. Overall, our dining experience was wonderful. Food quality was spotted on. Great customer service (thumbs up to Mei). Forgot to mention the price was reasonable considering better quality foods were served. Most importantly, everyone, especially my birthday friend left the place with full stomachs and great satisfaction. I'm confident that this restaurant will do so well as long as it continues to keep up with the standard. Since they are only doing a soft opening, they also only accept reservations but, they don't force you to make a reservation a day, a few days or even a week earlier. You can even make a reservation 30 minutes before your arrival and that was very convenient for us. About the food and service, everything was great. The quality of the meat was much better than any other ayce places. My favorite meats from this restaurant is the Saikou Kalbi Short rib and the New York Strip Steak. We ordered these meats so many times, surely more than other meats and items. Sushi was also part of the all you can eat buffet. My favorite roll from their was the lonely angel roll because of the different kinds of fish on it. Very tasty and the rice was seasoned perfectly. The only flaw is that they had different kinds of desserts on the menu but they didn't have the actual item. The only reason why I gave them a 4 Star. Recently ate at Shokuninbbq with my friends and I have to say that it's a superb Japanese restaurant. I really liked the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere when I stayed at shokuninbbq to eat with my friends. The staff members were very friendly and consistently helped with needs like grilling meat and stuffs. Food service was also very fast since a few minutes after I made orders with my friends, it came right to my table. I can say that the food quality is just fantastic and overwhelming. There are lots of meat selection you can order from, as well as delicious sushi and popular Japanese appetizers. The meats are not bland at all and it's high quality with perfect seasoning. I really like how the Sushi and the appetizers are really well prepared too. The decorations enhanced the theme and feel of the restaurant really well. I don't understand why the price is considered expensive because it's so worth it for all you can eat. This is definitely a little higher priced than most AYCE bbq places but so worth it. The meat is all seasoned very well and the quality of the beef is quite good. They season most of their meats/seafood with their own garlic sauce. They have a wide selection of meats. Most of their apps were very good. Service here is also A+! We had Xiao as our waiter and he was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! Seriously, he went out of his way to make sure everyone ate. I don't eat a lot of beef and he spent so much time insisting that I try more things Bc he wanted to make sure I left with a full stomach. An absolute sweetheart so shoutout to Xiao. They opened not too long ago BUT servers could be a little more knowledgeable about their food products!! Either ways, overall, definitely a place to check out. Came here for dinner with not much expectations, but eating at Shokunin BBQ had really exceeded my expectations of it being a great spot to eat at and even better than the other popular spots around 8ave. It is a new AYCE Japanese restaurant and I like how it's located literally next to 100 fun. It's even better that there are karaoke rooms at Shokunin BBQ because the combination of karaoke and food service makes the restaurant more unique. Atmosphere and Service - 5 stars It felt really welcoming when I entered because I was greeted by the owner. Staffs/Servers were friendly and attentive taking orders and helping out with grilling. Food Quality - 5 Stars All the meats were exceptionally seasoned perfectly and my favorite was New York strip steak and premium sirloin. Sushi rolls are appealing and tasty. This restaurant is my favorite of all the bbq places that I've been to. Sometimes I'd compare the quality of the meats to korean cuisine but of course both are very diverse. The price is $35.95 a person. Initially, I thought that it was very expensive. After taking at the menu, I realized that I could almost order the entire menu for $36! Apart from drinks and sashimi not being included, the quality of the meat makes up for that. The food was definitely a five star. The service here was also very amazing. The servers were very kind and friendly and they were also very fast with serving what I asked for. The servers that brought our food were also very clear with the items that I ordered and that allowed me to know what I had ordered prior my wait. Service also definitely a five star. The service of Shokunin BBQ was amazing. Came in for dinner and a server kindly took my orders and all of my food came unexpectedly fast! All of the meat dishes seems to be well seasoned and really appreciate the consistent help I received from the server for grilling. Also, he helped cut the meat and switched the grill when it needed to be switched. Took the opportunity to order a lot of delicious sushi as well since Shokunin BBQ is a AYCE restaurant with a reasonable price. I gave this 4 stars because the food was simply outstanding in taste and quality. Their service was also very good and fast. None of the servers ignored us or forgot to come back and check if we needed anything.The meat they served tasted so good even without a lot seasoning. I ordered the meat around 5-6 times. The sushi was also great. The sesame tuna and tuna martini was very delicious. The reason that I took off .5 is because we had to wait quite a bit for our sushi. We understand that it must've been very busy since we came around 9-10 which is usually their busiest hour. Despite the long wait, it was worth it because of how good it was. Amazing service, the price is very worth it considering that it is literally; ALL YOU CAN EAT. No extra charges except for drinks, sashimi, alcohol and a dessert item. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves bbq, seafood, and sushi because you can have all three at the same time! The ambiance is also very lovely. I arrived at 6pm yesterday with 3 others. We were seated right away because of our reservation. As soon as we were seated, the servers brought out our starters. That made us very surprised because the communication must've been very good. The decor was very appealing and felt like modern day japanese restaurant. Although the grilling was a little slow, the owner reassured us that they would be getting a new ventilation system that would allow us to grill on higher heat without smoke. At first, I thought that this restaurant was pricey but when I had all of my items, everything was perfect. The servers also offered to grill the meats for me which made me very happy because I was allowed to just watch and relax whilst eating the appetizers. This restaurant also gives out a bowl of salad for starters. I believe that this simple gesture, is very thoughtful and allows for customers to have something to munch on whilst waiting. I love this AYCE bbq and sushi restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the meats here because of the marbling. The taste was also very different with most of the beef items. Each item had its unique taste with different sauces. My favorite item is the Black Pepper Kalbi Beef Short Ribs. Our food also came out very fast so that was definitely a plus. Me and my friends came in as 5 parties on Sunday night. Our waiter, MOMO, was able to give us some great guidances and was serving our food with a wonderful service. One of the best Japanese AYCE I've ever been to. The marble on the beef was amazing even though I'm not much of a meat eater. I usually come here for the seafood selection and I love their scallops!
