EST Chinese food in this mini-cassia area!!! They were located in Burley ID for 20+ years then they closed for the families father whom cooked could retire. I guess he got bored and they decided to reopen the restaurant again only changing their location and cutting back the days and the times that they are opened during the week. read more

Good Chinese food take out. Enjoyed the shrimp fried rice and Mandarin Chicken. The egg roll was only so-so, but the house made hot mustard was FANTASTIC! I wish they would put a menu on Yelp site so I could make choices. I always order shrimp fried rice and I used other Yelpers to make my selection of Mandarin Chicken. The take out service was quick. The helpings were plentiful. I was staying at a hotel for the night and requested plastic utensils and they remembered - that's always a plus. read more

We've been going to Shon Hing for decades, and have always had a great experience. However, tonight's experience was terrible. We wanted to place a to go order, but the signal was busy every time we tried calling...over 30 times. We decided to just go and place the order in person. They told us it would be 30 minutes. We were still waiting for our food 1 hour and 15 minutes later. They told us they were "boxing it up" and we waited another 20 minutes. I expressed frustration to the host, and she gave us an empty apology. I'm sure the food will be good as always, but a restaurant can't survive off of their good food alone. Their customer service needs to get back to what it used to be, otherwise this repeat loyal customer won't be returning. read more

Let's be honest the choices in Burley aren't that great. I'm surprised that there isn't enough business for one nice restaurant in the town. We tried the Shon Hing on the recommendation of one our friends relatives who lives in Burley. She didn't brag the place up, but said it was probably our best choice if we didn't want fast food. The restaurant has very little ambiance. It has the cheap restaurant style bench/table arrangements and few tables. There is very little that decorates the interior. While most restaurants are dark with pendant lighting over the tables to give some coziness, this places was just poorly lit. I'd want to commit suicide if I had to stay in there more than one meal. After placing our order, my two little girls (4 y.o. and 2 y.o.) got down from our table to look at the hanging bamboo curtain that separated the restaurant from the kitchen. It was about 3 feet from my table so they weren't really bothering anyone nor were they our of my site. The woman who was serving saw them and told them "Children you need to sit down so I can do my job!" While I do realize that if they were continually blocking her entrance, that she may need to this forceful, but I think as simple "Excuse me! Can I get through?" would have worked just as well and not caused me to feel we were not welcomed guests. Now to the food...it was just okay. It wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst Chineses food I've had. Laughingly, an older couple sitting close to us came by to see our children. They asked if we were out of town and then commented "Isn't this just the best Chinese food you've ever had?" We politely agreed, because they were very kind people like most people for that area, but at the same time we thought that they need to get out of Burley some day and explore the rest of the world. I would not recommend this restaurant, but then again I don't know where we'll go next time we have to stop in Burley. read more

They misnamed this place. It should be called the Celery Palace! I had a lunch special that was less than special. Everything from the soup to the chow mien tasted like celery. No spice, no seasoning, just the overwhelming taste of celery. Yuck! read more

I found a new Chinese restaurant! Although the food was great the service was rocky. It was only the older couple and even though she was fast it was very busy for a Monday night for just them two. But once she took our order her smile lite up the room. She's friendly, funny and adorable! If your not in a hurry sit in and dine otherwise take out is the way to go. To be perfectly honest if you are going out for ambiance this isn't the place, but if you want some of the best Chinese food around this is the place! The hot and sour soup is better than any I've had in any other Chinese I've visited across the country. The generals chicken is simple to die for. I've also had the chow mein and its simply delicious. If I get a craving for Chinese I'll gladly drive the 35 minutes it takes to go here vs. the 10 minute drive to the more local places read more

My husband and I don't go out to eat very much, but when it is our birthday, anniversary or other celebration dinner you can find us at the Shon Hing. Ann remembers my husband's name and what he normally orders. She never needs to write the order down, and keeps our water glasses filled. We usually notice several people coming in to pick up food they have ordered, and others who come in and seem to have their favorite place to sit. The food is great and lasts us for 2 meals. You can also order hamburgers, sandwiches or other food for the kids. They are not very talkative owners, but we still enjoy our special visits there. read more

I've been going to Shon Hing since I was a tiny little kiddo, and can honestly say I was astonished at the reviews that I read. Not only are they mostly reviews by out-of-towners who wouldn't know anything about local cuisine, they also focused more about what the restaurant looked like than how it tasted. I'd much rather sacrifice ambiance for good quality food. That being said, I brought my husband here for the first time just last year. Since we're not in Burley often any more, I really wanted him to have the chance to try the food that made me love Chinese. He's far from a picky eater, but since we went to Shon Hing, he refuses to get Chinese food from anywhere else. The food is beyond delicious, there's a great variety, and you get a LOT of it for the money that you spend. My personal favorites include the won-tons, egg rolls, and pork and seeds for appetizers, and mandarin chicken and egg foo young for meals. The owners always work to accommodate, remember your orders, even if you've only been there once before, and serve the only Asian food I'll ever eat. Fantastic! read more

We really like this place! I love the mandarin chicken and fried rice and my husband always gets the sweet and sour chicken. The taste of the food is always consistent and always great. You can get their lunch specials at a great price and large portions. Definitely lasts us at least 2 meals and warms up great. I read the other reviews about how the customer service is bad but we have never had a problem. The customer service in Burley, in general isn't the best. I don't think they do it on purpose, they're just not used to impressing people. The good businesses stay around and that's it. I grew up around here but after moving back from Utah, I noticed the bad customer service everywhere. But I think the owners at Shon Hings are great. Never had any problems. The inside is just your regular boring Chinese place. It's clean, that's what matters. We call in our order then pick it up most of the time. Prices, portions, and the food are great. Which is what matters, in my opinion. Get the mandarin chicken. You will love it! read more

I read the previous reviews and they were spot on. I will add that the owner/waitress thinks she's has an amazing memory so if you can't remember what you normally order, she does, or at least she thinks she does and then will argue with you if you don't agree with her, very amusing. We had a different gal take our drink order and serve our food, she was very nice, we wanted to make sure she got our tip but she told us it would go to the owner because she took our food order so technically she was our waitress. She said she does it that way on purpose so the tip always goes to her and she doesn't share. The food isn't bad however, if you are looking for a quick meal don't expect it to be served in a timely manner. An hour lunch break isn't enough time for a leisurely lunch, maybe the food offerings they offer their god's on the floor of the restaurant isn't doing the trick. The gods are being neglected and so are we. My suggestion for good fast but fresh food is the China First north of railroad tracks or the Canton. Both have a friendly staff and great food. Ambiance is unfortunately lacking in most of Burley. If ambiance is what you are looking for then may I suggest the Chadwicks, the Upper Crust or Money's Steak House, I think that's it for ambiance in Burley. For a plethora of choices, just take the 35 minute drive to Twin Falls. read more
