Tucked into the neighbourhood beside Victoria Park, this place is a gem filling in the gaps from the chain grocery stores more north and offering some fresh local and both domestic and imported artisan goods. The owners are just the most friendly and sweetest people bringing a very homey and loving vibe to all the products. So much middle eastern selection too! Fine oils and spices, eastern baked treats, and a ton of dried goods like beans and rice. They have a great selection of island produce and meats/dairy coming straight from the farms into the coolers. The freezer also features some of their own falafel or local made meal items. The aged Island cheeses and dips are fantastic too. Something real special here is the small selection of baked goods from Montreal including Fairmont Bagels!!!! I love the Markouk unleavened bread and can't wait to go back for some baked treats or baklava! Oh yes, I will indeed be a regular here!!

We were in PEI for a family vacation in September and we made a special trip into Charlottetown to enjoy the sights but also to come to the Root Cellar for some essentials that we needed back at our cottage. Among the things that I came in looking for was activated charcoal and admittedly I was a bit disappointed that the store did not carry it. It was explained to me by the sales assistant that the local supplier does not have this particular item in their inventory but they were working on locating it elsewhere. Despite not being able to get activated charcoal, I was truly impressed with the selection of products. The Root Cellar must have the best selection of Weleda products outside of Switzerland! And a huge assortment of all-natural toothpaste and personal hygiene products and lotions specifically designed for babies. Also, in the back of the store there is an impressively large selection of non-perishable grocery items. I walked out of the store with a bunch of things and wishing that there was a Root Cellar in Montreal.

I fell asleep during the pedicure. Great comfy chair, tilted back and I was given a blanket; boom! I fell asleep! Ha! And Brooke did my braid for me before we went out to dinner. Love Brooke! She did my hair last year as well. Now while mom was getting a service done I paid for 5 massages + tip money. I asked them to call mom in June for a massage then surprise her that it's all paid for. End of June rolled around and mom hasn't told me she's had a massage. I called and left a VM. Someone called me back and stated they didn't have mom's info?! What?! How is that possible when we filled out the client info sheets?! Let alone that I could have sworn that was given when I purchased the massages. Fine, here's her info. I was disappointed about that. Mom has been enjoying the massages and still loves Martha! I called in last week to book mom a spa day for her birthday which is tomorrow. When the lady asked for mom's name, I said Mary C. Oh she's the cutest thing! She's so lovely! So I'm happy to hear that she's been going in and she's so memorable. I called mom and said: your services are paid for, I hope you book the services on your birthday! Happy 76th birthday Ma!
