Went here on Monday July 21st 2025 to cash a lotto ticket. Went there, approached the desk, and said to cash the lotto ticket. Person was pleasant, swiped the lotto ticket, and i guess he said that it expired-- anyways, he also went to get his manager and asked him- in which he said that i would have to go to a casino to cash it in. Now i quietly walked away- disappointed, because we would be moving soon and I have no time to go to a casino, but maybe there was nothing he could do. Agree with Robert below. My God this place is a derelict disaster. All the trash overflows - EVERYWHERE! The can recycling is jammed like a BluRay disc in an old VCR. The lines are 15 persons deep until some 'on break' employee arrives from 'on break' hitting of pipes on the loading dock. The isles are clean. Everything is clearly marked. The cashers were very nice and opened a new register as there was a shift change.

This ShopRite prepared pretty well for business post-COVID. They have put plastic guards behind the cashiers and sectioned off the check-out lines so that 15+ items and 15 items and less are separate. They have also designated up and down alternating aisles to better control traffic. Like most places they require a mask upon entry and to try to stay 6 feet away from other customers. They have a pretty good selection for a local supermarket, as they have most brands you would find anywhere else besides some more expensive or organic brands. read more

I dropped in on Mother's Day to get some last minute flowers. Thankfully the store is easy to navigate and I got what I needed quickly. Naturally I got sidetracked and perused the beer selection. This ShopRite offers standard fare so if you are looking for the latest craft, you probably should head to a specialty store instead. read more

Wow, this a large spacious clean and well stocked supermarket. Aisles are wide as there is no overcrowding or bumping and aisle marker signage that direct customers to find products throughout the retail store are visible and clear to understand. Food is fresh. read more

Like other reviewers pointed out, when this SR market is on point, It's very good at best. Unfortunately, aside from their personnel issues their produce department needs a great deal of improvement. This SR Market is conveniently located on 17M but this appears to be the only good thing about this place. For the third time in a row, their Organic produce has been moldy on the bottom. Myself and others have complained to management - to no avail. Either the refrigerator is not working properly or the produce they receive is expired or expiring. Fortunately, I've always been able to spot the mold upon opening the package but I'm sure a few other shoppers were not so lucky. If you're looking for fresh produce, seek elsewhere. read more

Large, spacious grocery store that's well laid out and well stocked. Had to ask where the ground turkey was, and an employee not only told me where it was, he walked me to it. All the items you would want or need for holiday parties and meals were prominently displayed. This review is for the floral department. When I was looking for a florist for my wedding, I didn't even think to consider Shoprite as a vendor. A friend of mine had gotten flowers for her wedding at her local Shoprite and they were absolutely stunning. Once I found a venue, I looked for the closest Shoprite to it since I live an hour from my wedding venue. Sammie, who is the main florist at Shoprite in Monroe, was absolutely great to work with! She had lots of advice and ideas for us, but was also super helpful when I was unsure. I had originally had a specific idea for what I wanted my centerpieces to look like, but based off of my budget, it would not have worked. Sammie must have put together half a dozen different styles over two months to find a centerpiece that I both liked and fit my limited budget. I really appreciated all of her help and patience since we would go a full week emailing back and forth constantly. Since this Shoprite doesn't deliver, Sammie delivered everything and setup the flowers herself once she was off of her shift. She was really great to work with. The flowers were beautiful and I was very happy with my centerpieces. There was some miscommunication regarding the corsages and my bouquet, but everything came out beautiful. If you are on a budget for your wedding flowers, I highly recommend using your local shoprite. They are a great resource, and if they are anything like Sammie, wonderful to work with. My only advice is be absolutely specific and do a review of what each bouquet/corsage/bouttinere should look like leading up to the wedding. read more

This Shoprite supermarket provides a shopping experience. That is on the lower end of average. No different than what you would see in a 1980's supermarket. Monroe desperately needs a Wegmans! With that said, I want to mention that Shoprite has had a hiring campaign, that has gone on for months. I am retired from construction. I desperately need part time work. I came to Monroe Shoprite. For the advertised, Tuesday open interview. In early October 2023. No one in the front end seemed to be aware of these Tuesday interviews. Finally someone contacted "Sara" the hiring manager. Sara looks to be about 26 years old. I told Sara that I was available immediately. And that I had previous supermarket, and retail experience. Before my nearly 3 decades in building construction. Sara seemed smug and disinterested during our brief conversation. She informed me that if I was hired. The wage was minimum wage. With union dues deducted. Ah yes I remember being in the UFCW. The most useless labor organization in existence. Sara never contacted me, despite NOW HIRING, being displayed everywhere till this day. All I see when I walk through Shoprite. Is besides the full time career "lifers". Stocking the shelves. The new hires are mostly poorly groomed, low energy kids. That have very little work ethic, they move at one speed. But since Sara is a young smug hiring manager. That probably has an HR degree from the local community college. She knows better than to hire a white male that is over age 40. Because everyone over 40 is a "boomer" and boomers are icky. Years ago, if you wanted a job, you spoke to the manager. These days you are vetted by some "woke" lackey. That never had an honest days work in their life! read more

Do not buy the pizza dough from them. This is now the 2nd time I have grabbed a fee bags threw them in the freezer defrosted one at a time and it's covered in green mold. I bought 2 on Friday the sell by date was 9/2/22 I defrosted to day start stretching it out and see nothing but green in the dough. read more

This could be the worst grocery store in Orange County. If their customers aren't in an express line with two dozen items, the cashier is shouting "Key!" Ordered some steamed lobsters at 4:25. Was told they would be ready between 6:15 and 6:30. I went to the seafood dept at 6:40 and the fish monger told me he was just about to start cooking them. WTF?! How do you run a business this way. Please reimburse me for the additional 20 minutes at whatever rate you pay your seafood department. read more

Theres Just something about Shoprite that I can't quite put my finger on but I don't like it. It could be the cramped feeling when walking through the shop. Or even the circulars that are all over the place it confuses me. Monk would lose his mind! Anyhow, Shoprite isn't bad by any means, they simply are not my first choice as a local grocer. on the upside they are Coupon Doublers, but on the downside they pretty much wont double too many per transaction. Today I went to ShopRite Monroe. I go to get cereal and find several guys taking the boxes off the shelves and piling them directly on the floor - they were rearranging the store. I pointed this out to a nearby manager who agreed they shouldn't be putting them directly on the floor but he didn't move until I suggested he tell them. I told him I didn't think it was OK to put boxes in my cupboard off the supermarket floor - I don't care how clean you think your floor is. When I checked out about 10 minutes later the boxes were still stacked on the floor. read more

I shop at the Monroe NY Shop-Rite on occasion, but I prefer the Shop-Rite in New Windsor NY. The merchandise at the Monroe location, on many occasions, is expired or about to expire. The manager by the name of Gary never seems to know what's going on. Four days before thanksgiving he didn't know the rules on the free turkey. During Black Friday weekend he couldn't tell me where the Barbies that were on sale were. We had to go 3 times on three different days instead of driving another 20 minutes to New Windsor. I ended up buying the Barbies at the Middletown NY Shop-Rite. I usually do my grocery list on the Shop-Rite app on my cell phone. For some strange reason, this week the app gave me the prices for the following week. I didn't realize this untill I purchased the items. The young man at the customer service desk, James was very polite and helpful . He tried to ask Gary a question about the prices, but Gary was very rude and dismissive. I don't understand why he is the manager. He never knows anything, he is always walking around very fast touching everything but doing nothing. I believe he walks fast so people won't be able to ask him for help. Gary needs to be made a cashier so he wont have to deal with customer's issues or answer any question. This ShopRite has some pluses and minuses. One of the best things about the store are some of the employees. The gentleman at the fish counter is wonderful. Everything looks fresh and appetizing when he's there. The week he was off I got slimy smelly salmon that I had to throw out. There's a young man working the fruits & vegies who is very nice and helpful. The produce seems to look better lately. Many of the cashiers are very friendly and nice. Another good thing are the prices. They double coupons up to 99 cents which is nice. I like the digital coupons, but it's hard to tell on your receipt if you actually got the money off because it just says "digital coupon" and doesn't specify for which product. On the negative side, the prices scan wrong too often for comfort. You really have to check your receipt carefully. You then have to make another trip to the store and wait on the customer service line for a refund. This just demonstrates a really clear disregard for customers. Another negative is that they don't have enough stock of sale items, especially if you shop on Wednesday. Then you have to wait at customer service for a rain check which they won't give until they have someone check the stock. Wouldn't it be nice if someone actually checked the shelves for sales items and either restocked it or communicated to customer service when they're out of a sale item. Finally, I have some acquaintances who require use of the motorized shopping carts and they always tell me how they became stranded in an aisle when the cart's battery died. Apparently one of the carts is old and the battery doesn't hold the charge. The others aren't far behind. While it's wonderful to offer these accommodations to shoppers with disabilities, they probably need to replace them from time to time. read more

Just once, I'd like to leave the Shoprite in Monroe, NY, happy. I am generally at least moderately annoyed if not downright fuming upon leaving this store and I'm over it. Today it was a coupon that wouldn't scan, which happens - I get it, hence the little numbers over the barcode, handy for manual input. Unfortunately Shoprite doesn't trust its' cashiers to manually input barcodes. No, it's necessary to stop everything, hold up the line, call the manager and of course, wait for the manager. On this occasion I elected to forego my coupon discount in favor of moving everyone's day along. Why oh why doesn't SR trust their employees enough to allow them the massive power of manually inputting barcodes?! No doubt that would open them up rampant coupon fraud, potentially costing SR tens of cents. And how about some actually fresh fresh produce - the produce at this branch typically looks as though they went dumpster diving at Warwick SR - its vile. Back to NJ for groceries for this family - we're voting with our dollars. read more
