The Pastors , Adam and Jesse made the message interactive a bit and used Bible verses to teach firmly how to apply what God's word is saying. Both new believers, seekers and established Christians can find an on-ramp to be filled with God's word. There is a Sunday School upstairs for kids and a playground. The Vineyard also has a thriftshop and food pantry.

I had to move due to people NOT controlling their talking kids while they were playing with them during church! VERY RUDE. I had to move and some lady yelled at me you can't sit there when I tried to sit down in the balcony. I said where can I sit? She was bitchy honestly. I moved up and found MORE people playing with their kids and talking during church. Preaching was just okay. They do have an amazing worship team that is to me better than Elevation. That was the only plus. I thought the preaching was somewhat legalistic and the pastor talked down to people. No one there said hi or greeted me. Very unfriendly and grumpy group. Not a place I want to join. No fellowship there at all.

Good Bible teaching is what drew my husband and me to Refuge, great fellowship is what convinced us to stay and get plugged in. This church really feels like a family with children's, men's, women's, and young adults' ministries -- plenty of ways to get involved and actually get to know people. I've been blessed by getting to know everyone fairly well. It's nice being a part of a church where it feels like people are invested in my life and walking alongside me.

An update to my first review:…read more It was years ago since I visited Active Church from time when my daughter studied at Cal Poly graduating over a couple years ago. We returned this past weekend since she and her fiancée are preparing their wedding in the Central Coast where they met. Active church has changed to new location with their own building and facilities since that time. We were there for the 10am service (second of 3) just about 5 minutes late so we had to park down the street. Like before, we were greeted by friendly welcome team but it was more packed this time. Fortunately there were seats at the very front next to visiting pastor Ron Vietti who after the worship music went up to share a great message on "Why not?" . Always great Biblical sermons, and different events for every age. The perfect church for young families. The youth group here is amazing and why we first started going here over 15 years ago. We've made life long friendships in this church and grown spiritually. It is a little large because it's grown over the years. So you do have to reach out and join groups and get yourself involved. But once you make an effort to get to know people you will feel as if you've found a home!
