Came in today just stopped in to grab a burger. Never been before and we ordered 2 burgers and some fries. We waited 5 minutes to get our waters and when I asked about the waters the server gave me attitude and muttered that I should just make it myself. I told her she was being disrespectful and she got loud and said she wasn't. Food was terrible. This has happened a lot more than once. I've given this place a lot of chances, I really tried to like it. No customer should have to ask for extra chili to get a regular amount of chili put on a hotdog. Every single time, my pinky is bigger than the chili they put on my hotdogs unless I ask them to put extra. You don't have to be blind to see that's barely chili for anyone. They put chili on like it's a suggestion. If a restaurant sees something like skimping as not a problem, they likely have a lot more problems they're hiding from customers. Besides members of staff fussing and belittling other member of staff out where all customers can see. This place is just trying hard to be Fowlers with subar flavor and no common sense. The ambience was great waitress was friendly and coffee right off the bat. No sooner than I to sugar into the cup I was shocked to find my eggs grits pancakes have arrived. The sausage was seasoned just right the grits were great over easy just right! Eggs not browned on the edges .A few retired army guys there to talk to. I was starving and was passing by so I decide to eat here even though I usually don't eat out a lot. I was hoping this experience would help me change my mind on eating out because after past experiences at other restaurants I am super skeptical about eating out. I ordered a CheeseBurger and some fries but the fries came out super soggy and gross. So I asked to get a new order of fries but crispy. Not long after this request a curly red head cook that went by the name of Will came out of the kitchen with a aggravated demeanor. He walk up to me and yelled in my face, " You don't like your fries huh? Then make them yourself bitch!" This scared me and I left immediately. It's a basic grill and a no reason to want to go back to grill. I can't believe they used square wrapper cheese like Kraft singles in our scrambled egg and our omelette which is horrible! It definitely has the potential to be a good short order grill. I think they just lack the passion and figure its good enough since the 70 and 80 year old customers still show up. Unless they improve breakfast by using real shredded cheese and more flavor in their food; I'll make the drive and stick with Curly's Cafe in Little River! read more

I have been coming down this way for a couple of dozen years and I have never even thought about stopping in this part of town. I am so quick to visit my parents in the more rural part of Loris and then high tail it to the beach, that I forget to slow down the pace and take in some of the more nostalgic parts of the area. I have frequented downtown when I was young and I have shopped at Food Lion on a number of occasions, but somehow, I passed Shorty's. This won't happen again. The area is something out of downtown USA. I would not have been surprised if Andy Griffith and Barney Fife saddled up beside me at the counter. This was, in every way, my idea of the perfect breakfast. I sat at the counter and was greeted by the cook and order taker all rolled into one. I had the 2 pancake meal with side of meat (country ham-the thick salty kind!), added a side of soft cooked bacon, eggs scrambled hard, orange juice, coffee. This breakfast was all kinds of yummy. Coffee brewed perfectly, bacon cooked soft, syrup flowing for days, fluffy pancakes, fresh eggs! How in the world I never found this place in my 50 something years coming to Loris. I now can just pop out of bed, drive down SC-410 E/SC-9 Business and get me some real true blue diner food deliciousness. Everyone working in here was super nice and treated me like family. You can tell when people really enjoy coming into work. The team was just clicking on all cylinders. Take out orders were doing a brisk business. The counter service was hopping. Delivery was on point. Just a well oiled machine all around. If anyone can tell me how I can get my hands on one of them Shorty's t-shirts I'd be much obliged! read more

Stopped for dinner with wife. Nice diner setting. Both ordered iced teas. Came in large styrofoam cups plus waitress brought a pitcher of iced tea as well. Wife ordered cheese burger with sweet potato fries, I ordered BBQ dinner with choice of two sides (toss salad and fresh cut fries). Salad was very small but very fresh. BBQ dinner came was hot and also had two dinner rolls. The shredded BBQ meat was very tasty sauce was slightly sweet and tangy. Wife raved about her burger and the sweet potato fries were very good. Shorty's grill is overall a fantastic place to eat. The food is great the prices are average and the service is mostly great (I'll get back to that shortly). The area is really sketchy especially at night so be careful walking from the very sparse parking options. The service is overall amazing with one person ruining the experience for me overall and that would be Tammy. She is always standing around watching and commanding everyone behind the line while standing there with her arms crossed. She is loud and rude to fellow employees and comes off short with most customers. I don't know if she is in some leadership position but she sure acts like she is better than everyone else back there and makes her rudeness extremely evident to the point of being uncomfortable. I felt extremely awkward watching her do nothing and seeing the frustration towards her in the eyes of her coworkers. Overall the place is great, the food is great and the people are (mostly) very kind. It's unfortunate that I no longer want to return because of how uncomfortable Tammy made me feel. read more
