Inexpensive, fast and tasty! I drive by this place all the time so when it was time for my morning feeding I thought I'd give it a shot. The staff was warm and friendly, the prices were inexpensive and the breakfast I had was really good. I would definitely come back with friends for a cup and a stack. The restaurant itself is fairly basic, your average diner setting, and that's fine because they don't assume to be anything other than that. There's booths inside and patio seating facing Placentia Ave. The main point for me: the tables were clean, the napkin dispensers were full and the drink bar had everything (lids, straws, sweeteners, etc.) well stocked; at 9am the brewed iced tea was full. If I'm going to eat somewhere I want it to be clean. Shorty'z was clean. The staff was friendly--big smiles and warm "good mornings". The service was very good also. I was surprised to see that they would hop out from behind the counter to refill coffee and bus plates. They would check in to see if I needed anything and if I had they probably would have accommodated. I often say breakfast is idiot-proof but I've had many a terrible breakfast. This breakfast was very good. French Toast with over easy eggs, two sausage, two bacon and a side of hash browns. The French Toast was thick and delicious: not too crispy with a nice soft center. The eggs were perfectly cooked and that's not easy (ha! Mine always break or are over done). The bacon was crisp and sausages tender. Again, very simple and basic but well done. Been coming here sense. Tried a lot of places in the area but this one takes the cake. The price is good for the quality and amount of food served. The owners and workers are wonderful, friendly. I get the ABC burger almost every time with a side of fries and root beer. The ABC Burger is pretty basic. Avocado, bacon, and cheese on a juicy hamburger. They don't fall apart, which I like. Other days, when I don't get my burger, I may get the steak dinner/lunch. Both very good. I like mine medium rare. Tender and great flavor. Not too small like some places where you only get the tiny cut of fillet for a grip of money. No. Here you get almost the full cut (just trimmed) for under $10. I recommend it. Amazing. Self serve coffee (for the most part) with no sugar or cream on the table - oh well. Coffee tasted like jet fuel, but I like that kind of thing so it worked out. Had the pumpkin spice pancake combo - pancakes were really good, bacon was great, eggs cooked right and sausage was meh. Sitting outside sucked because there were a TON of flies, but there was no seating inside so we dealt with it. I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if I was within a five mile radius I would pick it for sure. read more

I only found this LOCAL place because of yelp. Good reviews, so I thought id hit orbit for lunch. It's a walk up & order kind of place. Clean, friendly, & fast service. I ordered a BLT & fried zucchini instead of fries. WOWZERS, GIANT side of zucchini! They were breaded with like a nice thick corn meal style breading. They were really good & obviously freshly made, though they could have salted them more after the fryer. The BLT was great. Hand leafed lettuce, nice tomatoes, a big serving of bacon. This quick food place offered me an excellent value and quality food. I didn't investigate the menu-had my heart set on the BLT....but I'll bet it's a comfort food kind of burger/sandwich shop. Gotta see if they have salads, I'm sure they'd make a mean Cobb because their dressing was good. Would totally do a lunch date with a girlfriend there again. read more

I came here for the first time because I was close to school and wanted some breakfast food. I'd never even thought about a sausage sandwich, I usually go for the usual eggs, sausage, hash brown etc plate whenever I get breakfast somewhere but this place has a delicious sausage sandwich that I discovered only because of someone else's Yelp picture. I haven't had any other food here but people I've gone with said they'd enjoyed theirs. It's also not an expensive restaurant so prices are decent. Every time I've gone in I've been greeted and the cashier and cooks have been friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone around the area looking for breakfast. This place is awesome! The workers are all friendly and extremely courteous and attentive. It's clean and spacious. Now on to the best part... The food! I had the Garden Burger on sourdough with a side of onion rings. The burger was excellent, and the veggies tasted fresh. The onion rings were flavorful and so crispy. My wife had an ABC Burger with a side of Trueman Fries. She stated she'd definitely be returning in the near future, it was all delicious. This place has the best quality diner experience! When I make the trip up in the North Orange County area, I have to stop by to grab something to eat. But be warned, you have to call in your order or you will be standing in line for a very long time. this place had a great reputation when it comes to there breakfast! Best pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee, etc. I love their cheeseburger combo. If you get the combo, ask them to give you half French Fries and half Onion Rings, best combination with your cheeseburger. The staff is great and friendly! the only down side is that they are not open at night they close at 3pm. I would've given them 5 stars if they were open at night. Probably our worst burrito ever!!!! Almost uneditable if you ask for a chorizo and eggs you supossed to get chorizo and eggs well we got half of the burrito with a disgusting chorizo and eggs mix and the other half was all potato WTF is that!!! If you want to add potato as a filller ok just add some but not half of the burrito (saving a lot of cost, that's why they do that), chorizo was tasteless, they don't add any salt to the burrito at all? I added salt and I said ok this will help to eat it, but no it didn't helped. Chorizo taste and texture was bad must it be a really cheap chorizo, I don't understand why this place is so crowded? I have had breakfast burritos and this place is not the right one for us, we came since we saw it was so crowded, omg!! The salsa really!!!!! Is the worst ever,how can you call that salsa, so blend, old tasting with a lot of vinegar taste, not fresh at all. I am very disappointed we will Never come back, I didn't say nothing to my husband to see his reaction and he looked at me at first bite and said why so much potato on this I didn't ask for a potato burrito, plus this is so bad let me have the salsa to make it edible. They treat you like it's a restaurant even though it isn't. You should leave a tip In their jar anyways cause they're always on top of it. Great place, great deals, four breakfast combos + a coffee for only $35. The owners are so nice & the food is awesome. I ordered the country fried steak and it was great!! It was roughly about $8 and it came with three eggs, hash and toast! Super great deal. My mom got the corned beef hash which was also paired with eggs hash and toast for also roughly $8. I always said, "it would be great if there were a place where you can get breakfast anytime of the day isn't isn't a sit down like IHOP or Denny's. Here it is! I got the breakfast burrito both times I've gone and loved them both. There isn't an eternal dripping of oil while enjoying the wrap which is a huge plus, gives me confidence in what I'm putting in my stomach. I recommend the soup as well, the last time I went, it was a chicken with rice, very delicious, great combination of the chicken broth and a bit of sweetness to it, doesn't taste like it came out of a can. read more

Lived in the area for ten years and we decided to drop in. Wow, are we glad we did. The staff was outstanding very helpful with answering questions and just all-around cheerful. I ordered French toast with two eggs and bacon and they were just perfect. It was like eating at your grandma's kitchen table. The food was great and didn't take long for service even though there was lots of people waiting to get their food either to go or dine in. I will be using them for lunch sometimes and we will definitely return for breakfast. Parking is good, prices are fair. 6/11/2016 This is an update: I don't care when you come here it's always great! I alwAys drive by this place but never stop. This morning I was craving an omelette so I decided to get some breakfast to go for my husband and I. The place was packed and I was greeted very warmly by the cashier. I told her it was my first time here and she recommended some dishes and pointed out the specials. I decided on a ham and cheese omelette and a bacon omelette. After a short wait I got my food. Even the guy who handed me my food was really nice and courteous. The omelettes were a bit over cooked. It wasn't as fluffy as I would've liked and needed more cheese. Hash browns were tasty and the meal also came with toast. So maybe I'll try it One more time for a burger. I love this place. As soon as my family and I walked in we were greeted by 2 people with smiles on their face. The place was full but we got a booth pretty fast which on a Sunday morning is great. I ordered the breakfast burrito, husband ordered the abc burger and I got the chocolate chip pancakes for my kids. My breakfast burrito was amazing! The abc burger was ok according to my husband and the pancakes were delicious. The order came fast and we were all very happy at the end of our meal. I came here for the first time last week. I ordered the Ortega Swiss Burger, lettuce wrapped. The burger was very juicy and the flavors blended perfectly. The quality was top notch. I liked how the lettuce wrap was the dark green romaine type of lettuce, and not the cheap lettuce like many places use. They were adequately staffed and the employees were friendly. Big portions for such a cheap price! Went in today and got the 4 Sausage and Egg breakfast plate. I expected a very small meal for $6 but when my meal was delivered it came with 4 regular sized breakfast sausages, 3 large eggs, a heaping scoop of crispy hashbrowns, and to top it off 4 pieces (2 slices) of sourdough bread.
