We were very excited to use shotcount... his policies were clear, his estimate based on our photos seemed fair. But when he emailed a docusign document requiring a 50% down-payment before he even walked through the door to measure and confirm the job and cost... unacceptable. He cited that his reason was risk... what risk? A 20-minute drive for a 20-minute visit? We would have gladly paid the 50% while he was here for the measurement and confirmation visit had his final assessment been within an acceptable range of his quote. And we even would have paid $100 prior to the first visit as long as it would have been applied to the cost of the job. But 50%? We walked away. read more

Completely unprofessional. Told me they would come in the morning around 10 am. I took off work and waited around all day. Then at noon I call and tell the manager that no one showed up. He says he will call back. Over an hour goes by and no one calls me back. Finally, I call around 2 pm and I am told the technician will come at 4 pm. Finally, I get a call from the technician at 4 pm saying he can't make it until tomorrow and when is convenient. I calmly explain that I have an 8 am zoom call tomorrow and can't be disturbed but anything after 10 am is fine. Of course, they come at 8 am and completely messed up my meeting. When I speak to the manager, it's clear he doesn't give a damn and says the invoice says 8 am to 10 am and it's a different tech than I spoke with. Asked me whether they should "cancel" the job" after they have ripped off half the wallpaper???? I then show him a screenshot of where I told HIM, the manager, that I could only do 10 am. Finally, I get a "it's been one of those days where things don't work our" Really? You gave messed up my entire 2 days and that's what I get? I contacted Shotcount to hang peel and stick wallpaper. I was initially quite impressed with their speedy response and ability to quickly schedule me for the next day. I was told their employee would arrive between 1-2pm. At 2:30 I contacted them stating I hadn't heard anything and no one had arrived. I received a text from the employee stating he had car trouble and could arrive by 3:40. I contacted the manager to find out what had happened and the reason for the lack of communication and was told "we're all late sometimes." The unprofessionalism of this response made me question if the job would be done well. Also, we have young children, we eat early, and I didn't want a worker in the house while we were eating due to COVID concerns. I expressed that and was asked what our stop time was, which I stated was 4:45pm. I then expressed that I was concerned about the experience and was told "you can cancel" and then abruptly received a message saying "sorry we wasted your time" and "we have to pass on your project". Although the installers were a little tardy, the installer (Roberto) worked proficiently and was professional. Apparently the wallpaper I purchased from Wayfair had some slight discoloration where the lines weren't blending. Roberto noticed this immediately and did everything he could to work with the less than perfect product. He went above and beyond to match up the paper and make everything seamless. I used them for the first time to install wallpaper on an accent wall in my master bedroom, and they were extremely responsive! They were also very flexible with fitting me into their schedule, and friendly. The pricing is fair and they do quick and flawless work. The tech who came to do the install was timely and called to let me know he was running a few minutes behind. In my interactions with Ben he has been disrespectful, rude and unprofessional. I would never hire shot count wallpaper hangers again and suggest you save yourself the trouble. In an exchange over a refund that he owed me he called me names, yelled at me and got so contentious that I had to hang up the phone and get my attorney involved. If it had been in person I would have called the police. There are many wallpaper hangers in the DMV area that while busy, and perhaps a bit more expensive, would never be disrespectful or rude, and frankly, do bad business. Also oddly, he texts all day versus handling business via email or phone like most companies, it's sloppy. I would not recommend anyone hire him and do yourself a favor find someone who takes ethics and being respectful seriously. read more

Against my better judgement and out of pure curiosity I decided to look because I see Ben's responses & they did make me laugh. First off - I actually created a yelp account to specifically review Ben. Typically I use google. Second, his guys DID have to come out to finish the job because they DESTROYED my son's room. Ben - doxing me on on this platform was really mature of you. I'm also going to now report you to the BBB for your level of unprofessionalism & harassment. Luckily I document everything & am able to show emails, texts & phone records. Your ego is the problem. If you could simply swallow your pride and admit your wrong (WHICH HE DID DO ONCE - AGAIN TEXTS TO PROVE IT) we wouldn't be here . For me, it was never about the money it is your nasty & unprofessional attitude in addition to your horrible communication. My responses to you have always been consistent. Also, to pay your guys $10 to prove a point and then pay them again after is childish at best. They should be fully paid - you should not. They were kind & in turn I was to them as well. I went out and purchased them water and snacks while they worked, I checked on them & made sure they air was on so it wasn't too hot for them. I would ask if they wanted coffee, so to try to play me off as some sort of uncaring selfish person just isn't the case here. I have had a very good relationship with the MANY different workers on my house over the past few months. You are the only one who has been an issue & from the reviews, I am not the only one who has had an issue with you. You should probably hire someone else to handle the customer service for your business as you straight up suck. Respectfully, remove my last name from your response. It's incredibly rare that I leave a review, and when I do, typically, it's positive. So I am going to start with the positive here The actual wallpaper installers were incredibly professional, talented & kind. The wallpaper that they did instal (the job was not finished) was fantastic. These guys really are keeping a dying art alive. I also hired them to do stripes in my son's room - again the symmetry & the craft was there. Sadly, they made a mistake and did them too fast so when the tape was removed there was significant damage to the walls. I wasn't even told of this - they just left it there for me to find. But still... could have been a simple fix. Where it gets complicated here is you have to deal with Ben. He is the owner (I believe) and not good at communicating at all. I told Ben when I hired him that they were doing stripes for my sons entire room. He gave me a price, I said ok. It seems he misunderstood, so instead of communicating this he just added it onto my bill. Also - the first time the guys came out I didn't have enough wallpaper - totally on me. They told me what to order, I did & due to language barriers it was not the right amount. Typically not a big deal - but when you are paying $200 additional per trip (because I was an hr and 45 min out) it does indeed become a big deal. Also, not to mention they were needed to make a second trip regardless due to the damage they caused. Not once did Ben acknowledge the issue when I raised it to him or even offer to reduce the additional $200 trip. He left his guys to deal with it and rudely ignored my texts asking about the damaged walls. But because I know how hard it is to find someone good at wallpapering & really didn't feel like doing it I choose to still use them. When I received the bill, I noticed the stripes went up by $70 and simply asked Ben about the additional $70, instead of him just saying "I'm so sorry - I misunderstood and that 's the additional cost I should have communicated" he went on a very unprofessional tangent. So much so that I fired him & finished the wallpaper myself & hired someone else to correct the stripes. This wasn't just a one time thing either, his texts were incredibly unprofessional, at one point he even recognized his poor communication and said it was a lesson for him. But the real kicker is - he messed up but instead of him taking the finical loss of this he is telling me he is only going to pay his guys $10 an hour to teach them a lesson. To show them (and I quote) "how low people can go" That more than anything is despicable. And the ONLY reason why I decided to leave a review. I would have let it go if not for that. As a fellow business owner, if I make a mistake I deal with the loss. Never would I make my team suffer because of my ego. We have been through a wallpaper *ordeal* and I am SO glad we found Ben and his team at Shotcount. We had peel and stick wallpaper to install in our daughter's room--a big space, and a big investment. We started trying to DIY the install ourselves, but the pattern was pretty tricky and we realized we needed to bring in help. I gathered quotes from several local companies; some insisted on using their specialized adhesive even though that's not necessary with peel & stick (which we chose specifically because we want to have a lot of flexibility down the road as our daughters get older); others were so difficult to get scheduled or would go long periods of being nonresponsive; and still others quoted us prices much higher than Shotcount's, with fewer offerings/no insurance or guarantee. I reached out to Ben on a Friday in a last-ditch attempt; within 24 hours we had a technician booked to come out that next Tuesday. The day of install, the technician arrived right at 9 am. We had not yet had a chance to remove outlet covers or a curtain rod, but the tech assured us it was no problem and he managed all of that himself. He worked straight through lunch til about 2 pm, cleaned up everything, and stayed to make sure the install looked ok to us. We can't believe how perfect the walls look and how quickly he completed it! This was every penny well spent. We will absolutely be reaching out to Ben and his team the next time we need wallpaper installed; I can't imagine hiring anyone else after this experience. read more
