I got the Tonkatsu Ramen and a salmon roll. Ramen was ok, the pork was a little tough but the noodles were good. Broth was ok, not great but not bad. Salmon Roll was good. Might try this place again but will probably stick with the sushi.... prices were good. read more

Wie bei so vielen japanischen Restaurants arbeitet kein einziger Japaner in dem Laden - für die meisten Deutschen ist es ja ausreichend, wenn die Leute asiatisch aussehen, um ein Gefühl der Authentizität zu haben. Wir bestellten für vier Personen dreimal Ramen und einmal Sushi. Das Sushi kam dann sehr schnell - als Vorspeise für alle. Keine Ahnung, wie man darauf kommt, dass Sushi eine Vorspeise sein soll. Wir mussten also explizit darauf hinweisen, dass wir alle gleichzeitig essen wollten. Es kam dann auch nicht das Ramen, das wir bestellt hatten, aber wir haben es hingenommen. Die Suppe war ganz gut, und das Chashu schmeckte lecker. Die Nudeln waren allerdings sehr seltsam. Irgendwie wurden sie beim Kauen "breiig". Das Sushi war deutsch-angepasster Standard (also ohne den typisch-japanischen säuerlichen Geschmack) und fiel beim Essen teilweise auseinander. Ramen goodness in Munchen's craziness? Yes please!! I came here 3 times in 2 days! I would've done the 4th time if I had enough time. Munich- city of meats and potatoes with all things heavy and meaty. God~ after all that alcohol in Oktoberfest- I need me some carb and spice! Ramen being one of my loves, this place was a given. First off: this place only have 6 tables! Came here for lunch before hitting that crazy Munich's Oktoberfest festival-best idea ever. Walked in right as they opened their doors at noon. Got seated right next to the window. Yey! (Got the take out the night before but didn't get that ramen since it's hard to eat it in the hotel room) Ramen- yummm ramen! yumm yumm! I don't know if it was because I have been traveling in Europe for a whole month without Ramen or if it is really that magical. I'll go with it was that magical! I had their Tonkatsu with a bowl of salmon rice. It was delish! And they gave me peppers. Really spicy peppers. So tasty, I went back for dinner the very same night all hungover post-oktoberfest! Dinner wasn't as lucky. Had to wait 45 minutes for that little table but got seated in the same place. We lost some of our friends in the Oktoberfest and they actually found us here after like 8 hours! Crazy right? (They totally know my crazy love for Ramen!) Had the same spicy ramne, tonkatsu ramen, rice bowls! Service was nice. Only one girl spoke english and she helped us a lot both time. The rest only speak english and german. I would've went to the kitchen and pointed out my food if all else fail but I didn't have to. Overall, this place was my favorite in Munich. Ramen is kind of like water. You can have it pretty much anytime. At least for me anyway! And this place serve a darn good one for me. I'd happily come back on my next Germany trip for a bite or 10 of it :))) read more

It's my last evening in Munich and I've only had hotel food all day, so I decided to take a drive to the touristy area to see if there was anything open. If Hofbrauhaus was the only thing, then so be it. Luckily for me on the way, I saw this small Japanese place still open at 21:50 just within stones throw from the world famous beerhall. So I stepped in and took a look at their extensive menu, which includes a lot of Japanese as well as Korean dishes. I decided to order my favorite assorted sashimi klein (platter) and karubi ramen (beef noodle soup). Both tasted great and I wish I could try more stuff, but no one else was with me. As a traveling businessman, the last thing I want to be is a fat traveling businessman that I often see in hotels and on airplanes. Anyway, this place is small, only has about 6 tables and my table only seats 2. But it has a window service and I saw people ordering after the place had just closed for the night. The service was quick and the menu has English "subtitle" so it was easy to order. The server spoke a bit of English and so it was not bad either. The total including a small glass of mineral wasser (2 euros...ouch!) was 27 euros. It is expensive comparing to the US, but I am in the middle of touristy Marian Platz and so who am I to complain. I will definitely come back in a few months when I return to Munich. In the mean time, if you can't get full from eating a huge roasted pork knuckle at the Hofbrauhaus, then stop here to fill up. read more

I am a visiting tourist from California. I have been very disappointed in the sushi I have found in Munich, and Europe in general. Yellowtail and many other species simply do not exist. However, if you are in need of good sushi in Munich, Shoya is the place to come -- the best I have found locally, and run by real Japanese proprietors. The menu offers a tantalizing selection of hot food and sushi as well. The seaweed salad, under 5 euros, is good. And the green tea is nearly the best you'll find anywhere -- the real thing. The hotategai is also excellent, in large portions. The best sushi to order here is hotategai and ikura. Still, the fish offerings, as elsewhere in Munich, are extremely limited. read more

Probably the best Japanese restaurant in Munich with a really good selection of japanese dishes. Being run by Japanese of course helps, though some of the staff are not. I particularly like the ebi haiyashi (fried prawn on curry rice) mmmm takes me back to a little curry rice place in Hamamatsucho station that served a great plate for just 400 yen. read more

The best sushi in Munich, full stop. Always fresh, tasting great. The only downside is the size of the place: really small and the waiters will do their best to serve you fast, but they will also ensure to get you out fast. The location is really close to Marien Platz. The ramen tasted great, but the ramen noodle felt a little bit weird to me. Miso soup here was really good. Beers are also available here at reasonable price. Overall it might be a little bit pricy but still worth a try. read more

The service was really unfriendly; I was eating alone and they made me feel like I was just using a table that could have went to two people (there was a bit of a line up) and for the price the food was pretty unappetizing. Sorry to say, bad service, bad fish. I do not mind the touristy neighborhood but the dry, old looking fish tasted horrible in the maki, nigiri, and sashimi. I had the deluxe menu with all three. Totally disappointing service. Last night in Germany after several weeks of sausages we wanted something different. Tried to order tonkatsu shoyu ramen for the kids with only pork and no other toppings. The kitchen refused. Then tried to order some chashu (pork) on the side for the kids to eat with rice. Again refused. Apparently there was enough chashu for the ramen, and even though it was on the menu as a side dish that one (in theory only) could order, we couldn't actually order it on the side. Then added a maki roll to the order that never came but showed up on the tab. Totally unaccommodating service. read more
