Shred Northwest took care of approximately 120-130 boxes of papers, quickly loading them into their off-site truck and then shredding them at their location. The process was easy because I didn't have to remove items like paper clips and staples, which saved me hours - not to mention hundreds of paper cuts! I appreciated the friendly customer service I received each time I called them. They walked me through all of the services / options they offered (including on-site and off-site shredding) and helped me figure out what would work best for me. They even worked with me when I realized that my company had approximately twice the amount of boxes we originally thought we needed to dispose of. Everybody I called from Shred Northwest was super friendly. I really appreciated how each customer representative took the time to answer all of my questions regarding different shredding options, pricing, and the shredding process. This was my first time using any shredding company, and I had called several other companies in Portland to request quotes. Some of the other companies weren't that friendly or helpful, and others were much smaller operations that functioned out of a person's home (which didn't feel as secure to me). I definitely liked how Shred Northwest had the capacity to load 120 boxes into their truck and shred all of it at a secure location. I recently hired NW Shred to shred some old files. Super simple job, but was pleasantly surprised by their communication (driver called when he was on his way), how quick they got out (24hrs notice), and I had the receipt for the job in my inbox by the time I got to my desk. We asked for on-site shredding for documents left by a recently deceased family member. We were focused on ensuring we could watch the documents loaded, shredded at the storage unit where our loved one's material possessions were stored. Shred Northwest's driver was on-time and extremely helpful - he allowed us to see the shredding happening inside the truck - and then processed the invoice and receipt of payment online, right there onsite after the shredding was complete (which we assumed would take a long time, but turned out to be complete (with everything done and truck pulling out of the storage unit) in less than a half hour!). This company comes to empty my shreading and shows up whenever without an appt. and gets paid cash. Their drivers take the money and I get invoiced that I owe for the service plus a late fee which is almost half of the bill which I find insulting and a rip off. Maybe the drivers thought that was a tip isk but to be billed with a late fee that is almost half the bill shows me the company must be greedy. The bill is $35 and the late fee is $15. I can see a $5 late fee and I'm not even late makes me very upset and I'm looking for another company to do business with at this time. Buyer beware if you want to pay for the service at the time the service is provided - you'll have problems. I dont line companies tonhave my card because I get double charges deom some companies and it takes a long time and hastle to het a $40 or $50 back so cash is easy and get a receipt. I was recommended if you print a receipt yourself the driver can sign it. They don't deserve 1 star. read more

I have put up with them whining about having to do work, not showing up when they say they will, and generally treating us like we are not worth their time since we started using them. I even put up with them raising their prices 65.5% in the past two years. Now they have a new policy of adding a $15 late fee after six days. If you want payment at time of service, take payment at time of service. They don't know how to run a business, and I won't be using them anymore. read more

They were able to come out to our home business the day after we called and gave us a terrific price to shred 400 pounds of documents right on site. What a great company! I called Shred NW to set up a time for them to come shred documents and found the service to be excellent. The persons answering the phone were very pleasant, answered all my questions and once we set an appointment, followed up with me to make sure I was ready for the shredding person to arrive. The person who picked up my shredding was cheerful, very competent and arrived a little earlier than anticipated which was perfect in my case. FYI: When they come to you to do the shredding they bring a huge truck, fill up a bin (bin looks a lot like the big plastic recycling or trash containers for weekly home recycling) with your shredding and then connect it to the truck which lifts the shredding up to the top of the truck and dumps it in. You can hear the sound of shredding happening and see the shredded material through a window on the side of the truck. I plan to use this company again and again. read more

I drive by AccuShred NW at least twice a week, so when our business had a whole lot of boxed files to shred, my husband called them to find out how to go about it. The person he talked to was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful, and the pricing was the best my husband could find. It's a little scary to have private documents in the hands of someone other than ourselves, and we felt very comfortable having AccuShred NW handling them after my husband's phone call. We scheduled an appointment for AccuShred NW to come to our place of business the following day. They arrived on time and the young man who moved the boxes from our lower level to the truck was a hard worker and very competent, and never once complained about having to go up and down all the stairs. All our boxes were taken to the plant to be shredded although we had the choice to have them shred the documents on site, but our long, narrow, driveway would not have accommodated the larger truck. The company is licensed and bonded and we knew that our sensitive records would be protected until they were shredded. I had been in my home for almost 11 years when I got the news that the homeowner wanted to put it on the market. As a semi-pro hoarder, I had boxes and boxes of documents that needed to be shredded. I looked online at all kinds of options, even ones that involved loading the boxes in the car and driving around town to dispose of them in a secure manner. Someone mentioned I might look at a sight that begins with a woman's name and ends with list. Sure enough AccuShred had a coupon for $50 of shredding for just $25...and they would come get the boxes from me. I purchased the coupon and made an appointment for them to pick up at my home. The one thing I didn't establish was a time. Wouldn't you know that in the 20 minutes it took me to borrow a friend's pickup they arrived, and not finding me home or answering the phone, they moved on their route. Grrrr....I had taken the day off work specifically to get this taken care of. I phoned the office and they couldn't get back until the next day. Fortunately, Michael called me later that day to let me know what time the driver would arrive. I took more time off work the next day and left early enough that I knew I wouldn't miss the driver this time. Unfortunately this time he was an hour late...and didn't have a hand truck to move the boxes from the basement to the truck. Good thing I do have have a hand truck. The driver was very grateful and apologetic and even though I went over the limit for the $50, he didn't charge for the extra boxes because of the inconvenience.
