The menu is pretty standard, as in all Wetherspoons. The also have day-specific deals, such as Sunday all day brunch for £5.99 with a soft drink. I would say the place is a typical Wetherspoons- pretty busy, but a lot of free tables, which was very convenient for our group of 20 people. The venue also featured a bookshelf - I don't think I've seen one before in other pubs of the chain. Blue, and dated. How we ended up in a Wetherspoons when there are so many good bars, I'll never know. It's fine, it was busy, it's not as cheap as it used to be, toilets were a bit grotty- struggled to get all of us sat down withinout serious personal space sharing even with the size of the place. read more

The air conditioning here was rattling as if someone had accidentally dropped their keys into it (or indeed deliberately not as if the noise would be different). While this is a nice building, my pub experience was sub standard. Why? Well at the end of the day its about beer. This pub had a poorer range of ale than its stained stablemate the Montgomery's tower and the winter beer I did choose was really not so nice. Now, I find myself having to contradict previous reviewers. I have eaten and drank here on a few occasions as I am a wetherspoons fan - mainly due to their prices! I have found this place to be a good venue; looks nice, friendly and helpul staff and the food has been good too. I must admit that its been mainly sunday lunch when I've been here, but its always been well attended by families and older clientelle. I will always call here when in shrewsbury. read more

Its a Wetherspoons. No trip out to Shrewsbury in the evening is complete without a visit to this place. It is generally pretty well packed. There are usually lots of staff on, and the quality of the drinks is always excellent. With it being a wetherpoons the prices are reasonable as well. They do serve food, but i've not eaten in this wetherspoons, and on busy nights i can't really see the attraction in doing so. As with other wetherspoons this place does show some signs of wear,a nd the lighting could do with being improved, but thesare only minor complaints. It's a Wetherspoons pub, so you should know what to expect! I visit here normally at the start of a night out, as a meeting point for friends and a few cheap drinks to get the night started. There's usually some decent offers on some of the drinks. The main basis of my review is based on drinking here as I don't tend to eat here, but have done on a couple of occasions, and it is hit & miss. It's obviously not going to be first class food, but the breakfasts are ok and you can't really go wrong with the burgers. The Shrewsbury Hotel is a Wetherspoons pub, this location has the pub and a hotel. The hotel itself is very dated and in need of modernisation as the rooms themselves are dated. The pub itself, is ok, greta prices on the beer and the drinks, the food is ok, nothing special to write about as the food is basic, usually edible, altough on ore than one ocassion I have had to send the food back for being cold. The service is basic, just the bare minimum to get them through. Would recommend the pub side, mainly for the prices, but the food is poor. read more

One of shrewsbury's wethersppons, is a generic wetherspoons pub. good atmosphere builds on a friday and saturday night as many peopple meet for drinks before hitting clubs and it is in close proximity to reflex and liquid. Good food menu with excellent prices including burger and beer for under a fiver. staff are pleasant. read more

This Wetherspoons pub is in a reasonable location in the centre of shrewsbury. The staff are pretty average but the pub does have a area outside which is often heated and covered so good for the smokers or if you just want to get away from the bodily smells inside. If you're looking for a place to stay to stay after your night out that is reasonably priced then this is a good choice. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and comfortable and when you finally roll out of bed, a cheap, greasy and rather tasty cooked breakfast will be available downstairs in the wetherspoons pub. read more

Great place to go for a cheap drink or food.

Standards have gone down the pan!!!!!! Booked a meal for 7 people when we got there we were shown to the table and next to us was stacks of dirty plates. Was put directly under a air conditioning unit, asked for it turned down and all I cot back was "I've turned the heating up for you" One meal was missing from order Kitchen staff coming out using foul language All in all stay away !!!!! read more

Are you here to drink cheap beer and fall into bed at 3 am? If so, you've chosen correctly. The room is small but very clean - no complaints about the desk or the housekeeping staff, but the other "guests"? If for some reason every other hotel is booked and you find yourself here and actually want to sleep, then DEMAND a room away from the street side of the hotel. You may not have the view of the river, but you also MIGHT not be kept awake all night by the screeching laughter of the ladies or the drunken serenading of the gents. Never again, despite a really sweet and helpful young woman at the desk. read more

I am not a fan! The beer and food is cheap but I'm a firm believer of you get what you pay for.. The food is served in tiny portions and the beer is fowl tasting! If you're heading there with a group of friends before a night out then it's passable for a quick and cheap round of shots then on to the next place for some music and decent beer. read more
