Food is great considering we are sitting in Brazil and not Mexico - they have to adopt to their local clientele of course. Notwithstanding, food is still great. Try their tacos - they are super good. It's my last night in Brazil but if I have an opportunity in the future, I will definitely come here again.

The only things Mexican in the whole darn joint were the guacamole and the paper placemats which said "Viva Mexico cabrones". Some of the items seen at the buffet: Taquitos de salsicha: these were wieners wrapped in dough and smothered with ketchup Fish sticks Potato skins Chicken fingers Potato smiley circular fries Onion rings Canned jalapeños Burrito bar: Fajitas with flour tortillas Not seen: any corn tortilla, the use of fresh or dried chiles ¡Ay chingada! My colleagues loved the place. I felt like it was more of what you'd find on the appetizer menu at an American TGI Friday's, Chili's or Applebee's. So TEX-MEX with huge emphasis on the TEX.

On Augusta, you'll find Taqueria La Sabrosa, which is a Mexican-themed fast-food restaurant. As…read moreI've never spent any time in Mexico, I can't tell you just how authentic their Mexican food is, but I can say from personal experience that their food is pretty good. They have a straightforward and interesting way to explain how to their food is ordered. As you enter, there's a huge sign that gives step-by-step instructions - a nice touch. The wall menu lists appetizers, burritos tacos, and several other items, all served on plates (not Taco-Bell style). We had four different dishes, and they were all very good. This is food that should be eaten with your hands, so beware: Taqueria La Sabrosa doesn't provide knives and forks. Some people might find this strange, but it works for me :-) If you'd like a libation with your meal, they have bottled beer, Heineken on tap, and various tequila drinks. The staff is very friendly and informal; they're always happy to explain the dishes on the menu.

What did I eat? 1 serving of taco de carne adobada: 2 tiny tacos de carne adobada with some pineapples, all pastor style. 1 cheese enchilada: the size of a small corn tortilla in the US but even smaller, with some cheese and topped with guac. 1 agua de tamarindo. Spent almost R$ 40 and left hungry! Plus, parking around that hood is hard to find. Parking $30 + lunch $40, $70 total, it's far and beyond civilization but next time I crave Mexican food, I will have to drive. Coming back here to La Sabrosa? Probably not...

I love several other Churrasacarias in São Paulo, but this one is a real standout. We had a group dinner with friends and coworkers, and we were led to a large table, and the staff fawned all over us. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food and wine were all top-notch, and they brought whatever cut of meat you asked for, instead of waiting for the "good stuff" like the Picanha. The salad bar was great as well, although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Feijoada, which is usually a staple at any Churrascaria in Brazil. Again, there are several good Churrascarias here, but if you want the best, you won't get any better than Barbacoa!

Barbacoa is a very nice Brazilian steakhouse, and the ambiance and service were solid. It's the…read moreclassic churrascaria experience -- similar to Fogo de Chão -- with a full buffet, salad bar, and endless cuts of meat brought to the table. Here's the thing: I don't eat steak, pork, or most of the meats they specialize in, and I'm not a big fan of buffet or all‑you‑can‑eat restaurants in general. We came here because a coworker invited us, and she was being really kind, so I didn't think to check the price beforehand. I ended up only eating the salad, and with dessert my total came to about $66. For someone who doesn't eat the main attraction, that price felt a bit high -- honestly, I felt a little ripped off, LOL. Not the restaurant's fault at all; this is exactly how churrascarias work. It just wasn't the best match for my eating habits. Next time, I'll politely turn down the invite or suggest a different spot that fits my preferences better. But if you do enjoy steakhouse-style dining and want the full Brazilian churrasco experience, Barbacoa delivers exactly what it promises.
