I had an excellent dinner there. The staff was pleasant and as we arrived early (around 7.30 pm), we did not have to wait for a long time. We liked the black wooden furniture and the calm atmosphere. The restaurant had everything of a lounge bar. The food was perfect, and not so pricey. First you have a choice of thaï tapas as starters, such as fried seafood (around £6 per person). The shrimps were delicious! I had the greatest "Pad Thai Chicken" of my life. The noodles were very tasty. I enjoyed the dessert too (coconut pancakes)although it was a little hard to bite. Siam Central - Thai Near Me - London, XGL

The fact that Siam Central is my local has nothing to do with anything. Living in the West End, we're surrounded by numerous and sundry restaurants, a significant number of them Thai. There's Thai Metro (bland), Busaba Eathai (no desserts!) and even Soho Thai, which I thought was ok. But nothing actually comes close to Siam Central ~ not in taste, price and consistent delivery of a brilliant product. Siam Central also has a unique Thai tapas menu ~ a collection of small dishes to share, including tamarind duck (topped with tamarind and palm sugar), flash fried tofu (with fried slices of garlic) and chicken & prawn toast. Other interesting tapas style dishes include weeping tiger (seasoned beef sirloin with soy chilli sauce), spiced salted squid and Singha beer battered seafood. Mains at Siam Central are more traditionally Thai ~ we shared a pineapple fried rice, duck panang curry, chicken pad thai and a chilli & basil stir fry with beef. One word I can think of to describe their food is flavoursome, because that's what it is nothing is ever bland and everything is infused so beautifully with herbs and spices that you just breathe in the goodness before diving in for a full mouthful that doesn't. ever. disappoint. Another great thing about Siam Central is their choice of desserts, from fried ice cream to coconut crepes (pandan crepes filled with dessicated coconut), chilled mango mousse and even fresh mango with sticky rice when the season allows (ie not right now in this never ending winter we're having). I always order the coconut crepes because my tastebuds dictate me to. I do have to admit though, a couple of times they've cooked the crepe a touch too long so it's almost crispy (bad) but done right, this is one of those desserts that make you feel like you're sitting by the street side at Patong Beach, slurping up deathly hot tom yum soup, and cooling your flaming mouth on the local sweets. Anyway no website tick. No PR to speak of tick. But a queue every weekend night? Surely people who know know, and we're onto a good thing. Came here yesterday evening because Thai Metro was "full". Glad I did because I now like Siam Central much better! The place is very small and packed but then again, this is the West End and space is at an absolute premium. We had the seafood combo platter (for 2): beer battered mussels, prawns in breadcrumbs, spicy fish cakes, battered salmon fillets and jumbo prawns at £6.75 per person. The 2 person platter which arrived consisted exactly 2 of the described items and wasn't that big. However it made up for that in terms of freshness, texture and taste and is recommended. We also had a papaya salad (som tam) which was fresh, tart and very tasty (though not the slightly mashed type typically found in Thailand). I would certainly return here to try their main dishes. Siam Central is a quaint little restaurant on Charlotte street just off goodge street and is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. With affordable prices and delicious food, what more could you want! I have been here twice for dinner and will definitely come back. Especially for the pad Thai - so delicious. Tried Siam Central for lunch today. Nothing exceptional but generally good food for a good price (had a chicken curry with orange juice for £7). Worth giving it a go for lunch. But maybe not if you're in a hurry though. Service was slow for us and not really organised. The girl next to us also ordered 20mn before us and we had our food before her. This good review is based on lunch service experience. I found that the food we had was tasteful and affordable. I had the panang curry with tofu which was served in a good size bowl, cupful of rice and side salad for £6. My husband on the other hand had the pad thai with chicken breast for the same price. Delicious, rapid service, intimate.. I recommend trying the tapas flights... Great way to sample some excellent bites. The mains are as you would expect, classic Thai dishes. The only reason I give four stars is that the spice level is not where I would like, and I was unable to communicate my preferences to the wait staff. A cozy welcoming Thai restaurant with good quality Thai food. The restaurant competes with many others on the street but I'm glad we chose it. We ordered Thai fish cakes for starters, followed by Lamb Massaman curry, Chicken Pad Med and Morning Glory vegetables all to share. The meal was full of a medley of really tasty flavours and spices and the Massaman curry was really delicious and creamy. Service was fast and the setting was relaxing. Started with crispy chicken wings which I really liked - they're served with sweet chili sauce (which I don't like but I just didn't use it). I ordered the chilli and basil stir fry with pork as a main, and it was massive! Really really spicy, but with great fresh basil flavor, and the green beans and sugar snap peas were cooked perfectly - tender but still crisp. Awesome place. A quaint little restaurant that's reasonably priced and has the quickest and the friendliest service I've experienced for a long time. The food is amazing and we found that, on the whole the dishes were a tad spicier than other Thai restaurants, which is no bad thing! Also, the drunken fried rice is a must have! As well as the chicken being halal, the food was delectable. Cute location and not overpriced. It may just be a starter but the prawn chicken toast is not to be missed (they served 4 toasts but we ate 2 before taking the picture). There is a 10% optional charge written on the bill, but it is not really "optional". If you don't pay , the waitress gets angry. So I was paying for our friends of five by card and they will pay me back later online. The optional charge is accounted in total, so I decided to not pay to avoid extra calculation who will pay how much... Then the waitress asked why and became angry, "If you don't feel anything wrong you should pay it." Later, she said we are not welcomed to come here again. I am not westerner and I don't buy this tip culture (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g294232-s606/Japan:Tipping.And.Etiquette.html). In my opinion, customers may be attracted by your low price written in front of your door, but later find some "hidden" charge on the bill that have to pay to avoid embarrassment - it is cheating! The way I can accept is you don't write anything "optional" on your bill, and we are happy with your service and we want to give your tips by ourselves. Not you ask for it! If you waitresses feel earning too little, consider increase your price and pay your staff. Most of time, I pay tips just because I pay for myself and it is not really a big deal. Try next time with a good manner e.g. "is there anything you feel not well that we can improve?" won't you? read more

We went to Siam central at a quiet time I think (around 5.3opm). It's a very small place. A bar in the middle and small tables around the edge. Some seating outside but overlooking a narrow pavement and busy street so I wouldn't realy fancy sitting outside to be honest. Not very private. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food came so quick I thought we hadn't ordered yet! They do a tapas kind of menu and you can also order a la carte. We tried both methods. Portion sizes where reasonable and so were the prices. We had the drunken seafood rice (as reommended by another reviewer) and it was delicious. We also tried the Satay chicken. Nothing special but it came with a decent, non salty peanut sauce and another syrupy sauce, both of which were delicious. We also had the Asparagus and scallops (very tasty), and an Aubergine dish (don't eat those green things, they aint peas!!!). All in all, pretty nice experience. read more

light years ahead of it's sister, Thai Metro, which is right down the street. i'm a regular. the most solid thai food i've had in london so far, though a bit on the greasy side. i stick with the tofu pad thai. i'm a picky orderer...but they've yet to mix up my dish so no complaints. service is fast, and friendly--depending on who you get. tried to write a fair review, but a worrying trend worth note is rude customer service towards certain patrons...not a good look. as a regular, though, this kind of 'welcome' is thoroughly unappreciated so i've begun to limit my visits. read more

Took a guest speaker and three colleagues out to dinner here. The food was okay, but I was shocked when they asked us to leave after 90 minutes. Literally we had just finished our coffee/dessert and they asked us to leave, since apparently they had overbooked. Our group spent something like 85 pounds here. Thai food is my favorite food and I have to say that Siam Central is probably my favorite place to get Thai food in London. It is as close to eating at the home of a Thai friend as you can get. Homemade food made with love for a small group is always better than mass quantities of food made for the public, but this food is still amazing. Order the pineapple fried rice, which comes in an actual pineapple and is full of shrimp and veggies. They will make your Jungle Curry (which can be hot enough to burn your tastes buds off) to your tastes if you need it a little milder. The menu is more traditional than some of the other Thai restaurants in London; authenticity is what I am looking for when I want Thai food. If you are just looking for a good curry on the other had you can always try Thai Metro the sister restaurant to Siam Central. All of the restaurants along Charlotte Street are packed with people on a warm summers night and they will usually open up their windows and doors, which creates a great atmosphere. read more
